I was offered a free cab ride in SDL-39 #586 in Winona, Minnesota in 1975. I had a Dodge Magnum SXT AWD painted like 586 and now have a 2006 Buick Rainier carrying on the tradition.
sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost the account password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me
@Hayes Lorenzo i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Not my cup of tea but I really appreciate that you guys are going the extra mile to mass produce niche locomotives like these. Truly makes me hopeful for the future of model railroading, especially from such a smart company. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s announcement!
As usual, you guys did an amazing job. It’s great to finally see some SDL39’s in HO scale that aren’t brass. While I model present day stuff, I still might get of of these for my freelance railroad just for the heck of it!
@@SturtevantRails Check my video... I know it's bigger loco, but just as an inspiration... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0JSXj0yI5ck.html
Would be cool...anyone else remember the early Proto 2000 Alco FA's that had rubber band-driven radiator fans? They were amazingly detailed compared to anything else that was around back then
Thank you so much! Locomotives for smaller Layouts seem to be harder to find. I run in the 80's (which I know stretches the SDL39s timeline!). But I've also got a freelance Railroad.......😉 I hope you're coming out with more 70's Power as well.
While i can't use this model, I'm glad that something other than a modern diesel , that people have been asking about is finally being made. It will make lots of Milwaukee rd/soo line/ WC modellers happy. Maybe the next museum quality or rivet counter loco could be either the C&O GP39 (20 produced, repainted chessie, csx in various schemes, and on to second operators ) as well as AN had one. Another unique loco would be the C&O /Chessie/VLIX/ADM/and other private grain elevator operators got 2nd or 3rd hand. The SD18 was unique with its slanted low nose, and Alco Tri-mount trucks. Talk about unique. The body could lend itself to other SD18 models for DM&IR , EJ&E and CKIN.
This is completely outside of what I model, but I may have to get one of the "modern" WC units with ditch lights since these are just SO cool. Similar vibe to the B40-8Ws, sort of a compact pocket version of an existing locomotive.
Great job on this one guys. Not my choice of road names but still a great locomotive. I have a CN tier 4 Rivet Counter from you guys the best model I've ever seen. Tell you guys something, if you were to make SD 60s & SD70s you would blow the competition away.
Im not a big fan or modeler of the WC or MR, but I got admit, the amount of detail and work put into these models is stunning!! I don’t know how you did automatic curve squeal but it’s great! You guys are the kings of the model railroad market these days, setting the standard for low prices and high quality models. Even though I don’t model those specific road numbers I still might have to get one! Excellent work on bringing an uncommon diesel to life!
Curve squeal (curve sensing) is a standard feature from ESU... Have you seen brakes sparking? Watch my video and skip to 8:50 min: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cny1P54cDKg.html
@@MaxSupercars Yes, I’ve seen curve squeal as a standard feature, but it is activated by a function, I’ve never seen a locomotive programmed with a sensor to automatically squeal as it goes around a curve
The MILW also ran these on the Pacific coast between Tacoma and Bellingham after SD40-2s and GE U-Boats were sent east just before they quit running out west in 1980.
Would love me a few Milwaukee SDL 39's in N SCALE, and a WC just for fun, as that is the only one I have seen with my own eyes. Hope the CN heritage T4's are in the pipeline too in WC & EJ&E. in the mean time, looking forward to the racks.
Glad you are making one of these. Since so few were built, I never thought any manufacturer would ever produce one in HO especially as nice as this. Nice job ScaleTrains.com!
OMG!!! Deck and Control stand lights!! Hope the SD40-2 gets this refit! In any case, my drool cup is full!! Totally unexpected! Can an SD40A's or P30CH's be far behind? THANK MUCH!!!
We’ve been working with our factory and have identified what is causing some pilots to droop. Our factory has already made tooling changes and sent us a sample for evaluation. Future production runs will not have this issue. -Drayton
We need great GP30s or other 4 axel power. Why this? this junk is a waste of a museum quality engine! No one is interested in a sD18 from C&O/ Chessie and other railroads that had it. But, this unexceptable model is ok? Wow! I'm at a loss for words!
Get over it, people have wanted an SDL39 for ages. Nobody wants more boomer trash eastern railroads. There is more than enough of that garbage oversaturating the market already.
This as museum quality? It's just a Rivet Counter with few more details - cab light and truck light can I do also on myself - automatic curve squeal (I do not need) You should add thing like spinnings fans or something uncommon. For ex. smoke generator like BLI, although it will no one use. But it's worth of Museums Quality... As a museum quality locomotive I have awaited rather any steam locomotive... not this common diesel which we got ton of them... Here my spinning fans on SD70ACe: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0JSXj0yI5ck.html
Hi Max, we can't please everyone. However, we do expect you'll like our announcement tomorrow at 1:30PM Eastern. Make sure you turn into Virtual Railfan's stream. -Drayton
The thing is that this is NOT a common diesel. I'm pretty happy with scaletrains making these because they're something fresh which many haven't heard of before. Plus, this is the first release of this that's not brass or custom, so it's much more professional for modelers of these roads.
