30:24 I believe it’s for carrying the coins around more convenient. Like you said but I doubt they would have wear them as a necklace. Hanging around the waist seem more comfortable.
At a different museum, I saw another display about currency in Vietnam. And this display talked about how the hole in the middle was used to string up hundreds of these coins into one group. They would count out 500 coins, for example, and put them all on one string and tie a knot. And that made it easier to make big purchases. They didn't have to count hundreds or thousands of coins all the time. They could pay for something with groups of coins that were pre-counted and held together by cord. It was a bit like putting the coins together into a group so that it was a larger denomination. They didn't have bills like 100 or 1,000 or 10,000. So they strung the coins together using the hole in the middle.
Holes on the coin is for people back then to string it together as a bunch, it like there wallet. And when you buy somethings large, they just put on a scale each stack of coin.
Museums! Some are so Boring! I assume you have been to Siem Reap in Cambodia 🗿🗿I went to 10 of em there and was Pleasantly Surprised how Good they were in Presentation and the General Layout of the Exhibits ... Oh and a Few Temples 🕌🏯 hope you get to Hanoi Later on! 🏝
Thanks. I often end up with extra video like that. I'm never quite sure what to do with it, but I figure it doesn't hurt to stick it in as "bonus" video clips. (Though it does make the video look even longer, which probably isn't a good thing for the whole RU-vid algorithm business. 😀) Thanks for the tip about Harald Baldr. I haven't watched one of his videos in years, but I'll check out what he is up to in Vietnam. Should be interesting.
Good evening Doug. Your museum history is very interesting, but the foods look so delicious.. I’m glad you get to enjoy the museum and foods. Thank you for sharing stay safe and see you on the next video.
There's also a lot of museums about a specific subject like you mentioned. For example Ao Dai (traditional dress) museum on top of the Bitexco tower, or Southern Women Museum in Tan Binh District, etc. There's a lot more outside of the centre of Saigon, towards the local side of the city. Have a nice trip!
One of tips to have more views on the RU-vid is to stay in Vietnam longer 😂(just joke😊). If you do this on purpose, please stay safe and have good time in Vietnam 🎉🎉😊
Where the ghost? I didn’t c anything related to ghost. U will need ghosts $$$. They’re only accepting ghost $$$. Be careful with the ghost.😊thanks 4 sharing.😂
Remember to call the city by its original name if you respect its people and traditional cultures. The ruling government has no worthwhile cultures and only knows lies, corruption and abusive power. BTW. if you like having pizzas then pop into one of the Pizza 4Ps pizzeria for "the best" pizza and crab pasta in the word in that price range.
Doug can’t get over the wealth creation in Vietnam since he was there last . Seems like the government has done a good job bringing people out of poverty
@@kevbrown1867 You forget who got the South Vietnamese people into poverty in the first place after 1975. Saigon was much richer than South Korea and had more cars than in Paris at the time. Got it?
@@Rua1Tran Tell me one person the entire Vietnam Communist government who is NOT corrupt and has not taken enormous bribes? Remember the VC guy whom ate "Beef wrapped in Gold Leaf" at Salt Bae in the UK with only a measly salary? The people is the country NOT the incompetent VC officials. Got it?
