I dig Jeff's playing as much as anyone, but if you check out the video of his clinic at PIT (or whatever it was in '86), he plays a little bit without all the gear and he sounds much more human. I remember the day I heard that Jeff had died. I was in a record store in Auckland NZ and a customer and an employee were talking about it. As a young drummer myself and huge fan of his, I was shocked and simply couldn't believe it. When the employee saw my face, he asked it I was all right and I said "No I'm not. He was my hero". I remember walking home in stunned disbelief. It had a profound effect on me and as I think back on that day many years ago, I still feel my eyes welling up. There will never be another Jeff...

I'm not entirely sure Jeff Porcaro was of this Earth. How can anyone be so talented and yet seemingly modest. In jazz, it can be felt as a quality of persistently repeated rhythmic units, created by the interaction of the music played by a band's rhythm section (e.g. drums, electric bass or double bass, guitar, and keyboards). Still have this VHS, even though I have no where to play it.... I think that’s the only time he hits that splash on that VHS haha. So much good stuff on it.

The Music - with M - that starts at 0.36...immediately takes you to another dimension...made of dreams, thoughts, isolated gardens, secondary luxury streets, less known supermarkets and so on....endless beauty!🤗🍒

Un grandísimo Genio. Merecíamos más de tu arte. Simon fué un grandioso sucesor, pero no quita ni por un momento tu cuantiosa perdida. Eres Grande, Jeff... Te recordamos siempre junto a tu hermano Mike. Dos Leyendas!!

If Jeff could make jazz drumming legend Peter Erskine cry, that says it all. Jeff was the ultimate groove master.

I miss Jeff Pocoro’s playing, he and his brother Steve I met, Over in the good old San Fernando valley, then ended up running into Jeff later to which he was a customer of mine for a bit, right up until the last year before he passed away, what an amazing and remarkable talent this guy was...Not too many drummers play like him - His legacy will live on through the drummers who esteem his influence through their play.
