Just to be clear, this is not a real run. It's a bunch of savestates spliced together to look like one full credit.
Performed on Mame at 56% blitter and 37.6% CPU. I accidentally forgot to turn on the CPU underclocking until the second half of stage 4 (my bad), but stages 1 and 2 would have been unaffected, and stage 3 would have just got some bonus slowdown on the beginning of the stage when traversing the spine segments.
Because of how the audio from before you load a savestate carries over for a handful of frames, I had to lower the audio of various sections temporarily to keep things from being too annoying or loud. If I ever do another "TAS" in the future I'll look for a way to avoid this.

Who's this "TAS" person I see with all these insane scores? They're really good at speedrunning too and it seems like they can get up to WR level in any game super quickly

Big juicy counters :eyes: The low power stalling is legendary! Big numbers! Funny thing I noticed: at 7:05-7:10 you can hear a player death sound in the background, but obviously it didn't happen! I imagine there'll be lots of sound artifacts like that due to the splicing process used. Is the stage 3 boss bomb for convenience of assembling the TAS, or is it score optimal? Huh, stage 4 suicide - interesting! I assume to change weapons? When midbosses suddenly explode, is it because they timed out, or because they're programmed to not swap phases if they're leaving? Oh wow, the final attack is brutal if you can't kill the boss fast. GG!

Yeah, the audio is a little bit scuffed because of how I created the video lol. The bombs on the stage 3 boss were to easily destroy all of the boss parts. I didn't need the bombs anyways since this is a TAS (also I was going to suicide immediately after anyways). I suicided at the beginning of stage to change weapons, yes. I did it in the beginning of stage 4 instead of the stage 3 boss because you lose all gems you've collected thus far for end of stage bonuses when you die. So, dying at the beginning of stage 4 before you collect anything produces almost no point loss compared to losing all of your stage 3 gems right before the bonuses. The midbosses explode then immediately leave because I precisely timed my damage to switch them to phase two right as they time out for a little bit of safety and extra points.

Hi!. I have been playing this on mame 64 today. It runs ok apart from regular game freezes with a buzzing sound . Do you think that’s my weak 2007 laptop or can I adjust these “ blitter” settings you speak of? Thanks

Hm... I'm not quite sure I know how to fix that, sorry. The blitter settings only adjust the amount of slowdown in the game to get it closer to the original PCB. Maybe try using a newer version of mame?
