As a musician, music teacher, mindset coach, singer and producer I can highly appreciate this amazing a cappella arrangement of timeless song 'You And I' by Stevie Wonder.
The harmonic complexity of this version is breathtaking and ‪@jacobcollier‬ together with ‪@Take6Official‬ are doing a great job performing the amazing composition at the Travis Smiley Show. Here's my first hand reaction from a perspective of someone who helps musicians achieve peak performance states, effortless self expression and simply flow with the music.

Really enjoyed your analysis - especially when you stressed the importance of how we are able to listen: we often can only "hear" what we "know." Experience and knowledge is the context, by which we discover our limits of what we are able to recognize and understand ("hear'). Collier and Take6 take me to my limit - after so many years and thousands of hours, I am always learning. I also like that you linked this performance to an earlier recording during which they discussed their process and preparation - nice addition to your presentation! Finally, I am looking forward to seeing your list of things that hold us back from performing/presenting/creating with authenticity and freedom. Thank you again for sharing and letting us enjoy your musical thoughts and feelings!

Thank you so much for such a detailed and wonderful comment! I love what you wrote: 'Experience and knowledge is the context, by which we discover our limits of what we are able to recognize and understand ("hear').' Such a great quote, I'm gonna have to ponder this some more!

Wow, such a small channel, after watching your reaction I thought you were much larger. You certainly have a great voice and really speak to your audience in a clear, easily understood way. Very impressed and subbed, thank you.

It's certainly true that he does not remotely write like this anymore. If you want to see how he has radically simplified his harmony palette check out any one of his new songs from Djesse Vol 4. The change is startling. As you can tell I preferred the old Jacob but I understand you can't make a living appealing only to music nerds@@FaanaMusic

How hard and impossibly difficult would that have been? To sing in harmony is hard at the best of times, and those damn harmonies… 🤣 Man, ima gonna check out that podcast, for sure. Jacob has raised the bar on absolutely everything, and the sky’s the limit ⭐️ Insane 👍🧡☺️

Btw, and as you might know, Brian McKnight, Claude’s brother, happens to be a fan of Jonah Nilsson’s as well ☺️

Great analysis. I can hear that all sorts of exciting, ingenious things are going on, but I don't have the musical education to know what's happening or why it works so well. This helps me listen to it through a musician's ears, which is a pleasure and a privilege. Thank you 😊

Wow, your comment means a lot to me, thank you! I wasn't realising that it can be valuable for someone in this way, you opened my eyes and I'll focus on doing more videos like this.

Since you are reacting to Jacob Collier, for the future I'd recommend "Don't You Know" with Snarky Puppy and the Mahogany Sessions version of "Little Blue" where does the audience choir thing with some fans instead of a full concert audience. "All Night Long" is older but still great to see him play multiple instruments and is also with Take 6 and Quincy Jones. Or "Moon River" if you want pure a capella. Snarky Puppy (and their song Lingus) and Saje are a couple of good groups to look at separately. This one below won't be released until February with the DJesse Volume 4 album but when I saw him at the Kennedy Center it was the world premiere of this more classical piece for a chorus which has harmonies as complex and powerful as what he did with Take 6. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qwxRyUnujvg.html

WOW! Thanks for this comment! I do know most of the songs you're mentioning, but it's a good reminder and I haven't thought of doing reaction to Snarky Puppy and it is a really great idea! Thanks for the link, that is really unique to watch!

First time hearing this. Sounds a bit Nat King Cole like to me. Really cool. Less the 'voice' and more the music 'style'. I'll need to check out more from him (and them).

Welcome to a deep rabbit hole. I see what you mean with the Nat King Cole reference.
