It’s unfortunate this is actually one of the easier boss fights in the game due to the boss having low health, so many people (including myself) have never even heard the second half of the song in game. I discovered it months later through these types of videos. Great reaction

As someone who's played Elden Ring and previous Fromsoft titles, I can tell you they do it not only as an art to draw in the mood of the battle, but also to tell us about the bosses usually. In the lore, the dragon wasn't only a grand/darker foe, but actually a foe we face off with who intended something very good. An ultimate risk for his demigod friend, both considered divine by nature, blighting the dragon with Death essence on the frontier he ended up trying to ward it from the body of his friend, and becoming part of its sickness within the spiritually killed demigod, Godwyn the Golden. Part of the nature of the song would be to tell us their tragic fate, another would tell us their sense of resolve we must face. Then of course we must recognize who they truly were. My favorite example to this style of approach they've done comes from Dark Souls 1, where the final boss, Gwyn, would be played only in piano, and reflect on his fear and detriments of his decisions, and the set in motion turn of fates for the player to decide from either continuing what unfortunate cycle he had created in his Age of Fire, or start of humanity's taking over the world into an inevitable to come Age of Dark that Gwyn and his men all knew would be coming and feared the most as the holders of the Souls of Light. Some would even be unsure of how much of this is debatable, but everyone would be agreed that they remember the "plin plin plon" in the piano keys, later revisited in a later game, Dark Souls 3. In Dark Souls 3 this would be revisited in the final boss theme 2nd phase, where their moveset would even resemble Gwyn's as a real throwback to the player, and a reminder to what it all originally was told to mean in the first game, to become further imagined to the very end.

From Soft music is always fantastic, and I hope you will eventually listen to the Bloodborne OST, more specifically Ludwig the Accursed/Holy Blade. It's 2 songs used over 2 phases of a boss fight and it is such amazing music to listen to and tells a story and portrays the boss's personality in both phases of his fight.

Ah man, you should do Mohg Lord of Blood (the version with the Nihil screams is the coolest). The transition from first to second phase in that track is so unbelievable epic it gives me chills, especially with the voiceover added. Edit: Fixed the typo, lol.

Being this is a surprise boss, hearing this music for the first time and seeing Fortissax with the red lightning on his horns is something I'll never forget. A great song for such an amazing boss. One of my favorites in the whole game.

Oh man... already replaying the terror of this boss in my mind. Not necessarily the fight itself, but just the pure presence that this son of a gun had both visually, and because of this music backing him up.

elden ring is by far one of if not my all time favourite game, the soundtrack, the gameplay, the boss design, the world and its lore are all outstanding. Definitely worth playing. Fromsoft (the developers) have released some amazing games and always excel, this is the pinaccle of all their work in past games merged into one masterpiece. 10/10 any day of the week.

Many bosses will have two battle phases. The music will change with that. Hence the sudden drop during the song and then restarting not like part one. Nice catching that!

I suffered an entire 2 months playing this game

The extra spice that adds to the bombastic feel of tracks from this game is that music is almost completely absent when wandering about. This makes the explosion of sound stand out even more, and it feels extra tranquil and satisfying after a fight .

Ohhh, you tease! Reacting to my favourite ER OST, but I have to wait 3 days for it. Did you play through ER yet, Tony? You can experience these OSTs at many different levels. Only the soundtrack, listening whilst fighting the boss, listening after learning the lore etc... There's a lot of intent and thought put behind these soundtracks. I love it.

The dragon that gave everything for it's friend, in a futile battle against the very concept of death itself, and tragically it ends up joining it's friend in a living nightmare. god damn

All of Elden Ring's boss themes are written in a way that the lore comes across in the music. You may have missed it because you have not played the game (not an issue) but it adds so much depth to the music.

The best description I have for this song is that it basically kicks in your door screaming, punches you in the face and pulls you along at your ears for a a wild ride of madness.

I'd love if you could do some of Shadow of the Colossus. It has one of the best OST in gaming history. "Prologue" is an incredibly beautiful and emotional piece that gives me chills every time I listen to it. Other great themes are "The Opened Way" and "A Despair-Filled Farewell", which are amazing boss themes. I recommend listening to the entire soundtrack because it's a masterpiece and a journey through all the emotions a human being can feel.

Gotta listen to 'Ludwig the accursed & holy blade' from Bloodborne

Part of me wants to recommend Rykard's theme (God-Devouring Serpent) _just_ for that drop in the very end that goes harder than anything, ever; I rarely hear people talk about that But I'd say otherwise the biggest must in Elden Ring OST would Mohg's theme (Mohg, Lord of Blood) Love your stuff, you have a great balance of teaching little technical tidbits without losing the vibes of the music, and also a damn smooth voice

To be fair i hardly ever notice the soundtrack when playing elden ring, especially the boss battle themes, because i'm usually in such a frantic panic trying to survive i cut out most of that background noise in order to get my 3 braincells to focus in on the job at hand (which they only manage to do a majority of the time).

i'd loooove to see you cover something from bloodborne. made by the same producer and has a completely different vibe than anything like elden ring or dark souls. more specifically, i'd love to see you react to Laurence, the First Vicar's theme from bloodborne, as it's one of my favorite songs ever and is one of my favorite tracks from any of the soulsborne titles.

Man I just watched this and your Bloodborne reaction video and when you begin to describe the dynamic of what is happening in the song, it's almost as if you're describing the boss fight itself. But you've not played it, so I find it amazing that From software always matches the vibe of their boss fights with the music perfectly.

Ludwig track is always one of my favorites from bloodborne

It's an older soulsborne game, but Dark Souls 2 was my favorite before Elden Ring. From Dark Souls 2, the Ruin Sentinels theme was the first one I properly heard for some reason, and it's really stuck with me. No clue why, I think on a whim I used headphones right before their fight, and I was shocked at how good that music was.

Very cool breakdown! You should also give a listen to the "Ancestral Spirit" boss theme. That one is very underrated IMO and very epic sounding. :)

interesting that you were recommend this one first because I'd say it's so good because of the contrast it has with the other boss themes of the game. It kinda loses impact on its own imo.

Idk how much of fromsoftware games you know, but the best music in my opinion is in Bloodborne and Dark souls 3, especially in the DLCs if you’re interested.

hello there my friend, I have a game that an ost you should listen to, It is known as Friday Night Funkin, now actually, you could listen to these songs(which totally slaps.) And also listen to my favorite mod known as Indie Cross. The dev team behind this huge content of a mod is really great, not to mention DAgames helped with some stuff. But, here is a song from the mod that you should listen to. "Bonedoggle" the master behind that one is Saster and someone else, he helped make some music. But my favorite is "Knockout" Super good, but to understand, this reaction should also have the cutscenes in it, it kinda helps break down what is happening(especially for the first week)
