You will here electronic and synth music perfectly in sync with traditional Chinese and Japanese and other Asian instrumentations. You will hear japanese instruments seemingly transitioning to Trap beats and back

Oh man, you just found a gold mine of reaction material. Genshin has some of the best music in recent gaming history

If you were curious as to the lyrics and what they mean, the boss (scaramouche), is talking about the betrayals that have happened to him in his past and childhood, mainly his mother, which happens to be a god. He is jealous of her in this aspect, so he tries to become one himself. He is trying very hard to overcome this memory of the past, but the pain is very noticeable when he is singing. Yes, the game company hired a professional singer to sound identical to the va for scaramouche.

So, how many musical genre are we going to implement in this boss fight music? Yu Peng Chen: *Yes.*

I love how this theme really represents how his....mind, heart, and soul are not only RAGING, but _FRACTURING._ This kid is absolutely falling apart at the seams, and he's not only fighting against us and the world, but against himself, and you can *_HEAR IT._* The deep bass chanting and the deep brass show off the rage and anger, but then you've also got the tenor/s and higher baritone/s and lighter pitch elements that sing above that, weaving in throughout it, showing vulnerability and pain, CRYING OUT for help, SCREAMING for someone to hear him. And the way the theme goes back and forth between the 2 (and all the in between), gradually leaning more and more heavily towards the dark heavy rough rage shows his psychological descent into what I like to call the psychotic _"Y'know what? _*_T'HECK_*_ with it all! Let's just _*_BLOW EVERYTHING TO HELL!!"_* state very wonderfully. And with the whole gorgeous Gothic orchestra & chanting, mixed with the electric techo almost dubstep elements, mixed with Japanese style melody gives this song a really unique but AWESOME flavor!

the drop where the Japanese flutes come in is one of the best parts of the score, in the game world the nations you visit are somewhat inspired by real nations Inazuma the nation Scaramouche comes from is based on Japan although he left and tries to separate himself from Inazuma his score goes back to a similar sound that you here in that area, no matter what he dose or becomes he is drawn back to where he started, its like a moment a clarity in the soundtrack with no distortion or mechanical sounds

Favorite theme from Genshin so far, I love the mix of Japanese and Latin lyrics. It's also really fitting for Scaramouche.

The fun thing about genshin music is that because the game is seperated by regions taking influence from all sorts of different places you end up getting stuff like this where you get huge shifts in the way it sounds, to give a bit of context this character is from a region based on Japan hence the Japanese trap part, he is also part of an organisation in a region that is based on Russia and the fight itself takes place in a middle eastern based region. Also if you wanna check out more genshin music my recommendations would be azhdaha's theme, signora's boss theme and the Raiden Shogun's boss theme.

That "Unison" line that you were talking about at the end is actually a motif shared across 3 boss themes (currently) that are all from the same organization. If you want to hear that motif mixed in a completely different way, I would recommend listening to Tartaglia's boss theme and La Signora's.

This boss theme really is my favorite in Genshin Impact. It's dark, brooding, emotional and self centered. It really feels like Scaramouche is telling his own revenge fantasy with him as the protagonist.

I recommend Azhdaha’s theme. Easily one of the best boss themes I ever heard.

Speaking of Genshin Impact OST, BAND-MAID did a cover of "Dawn Winery Theme" recently. That would be an excellent transition after this reaction. And as a drummer, you certainly love transitions 🥁😏

So, basically to kinda explain this beautiful chaos that is going on with the song: - The main leitmotif is the one the choir sings for most of the piece and it's the theme of the Fatui, the 'evil' organization Scaramouche is part of. - The Japanese sounding portion is the leitmotif of Inazuma, a fantasy Japan region of the game from which Scaramouche originates from. - The electro/D&B aspects of the song are there because Scaramouche is utilizing a huge mech. - The baroque/oratorio/Bach portions and church organ parts are there to signify the religious aspect of the character, as Scaramouche has ascended into godhood via the mech. Essentially, Scaramouche is an artificial human from Inazuma that is a member of the 'badies' (Fatui) as one of their 'leading' faces who has ascended into godhood thanks to a 'mechanical God', a huge mecha suit that was created from years of accumulated human knowledge and a 'god heart', in a way. The way the Fatui theme and the Inazuma theme keep 'fighting' one another is kinda reflecting how Scaramouche himself is having an internal struggle with his past and his present trying to see what will shape their future, and both of those are wrapped in a blasphemous, distorted wrapping of a mechanical god who acts as a living armor to shield a very clearly disturbed and confused person. This track, for me, is by far the best boss theme of the game so far, because it tells a story all on its own, purely through the clever use of samples and leitmotifs, but a lot of its beauty comes from recognizing said leitmotifs, unfortunately. Otherwise it simply sounds like a chaotic mess. A beautiful chaotic mess, but still musically confusing.

100% recommend you listen to other tracks of Genshin Impact - La Signoras Theme - Azdahas Theme - Tartaglias Theme - Divine Damsel of Devastation and - Swirls of the Stream are all my recommendations The great thing when it comes to Genshin music is that they implement and represent many and multiple cultures

The composer is a psychopath when it comes to music He doesn’t give a f about the theory He jumps from tradition Japanese to hip hop Like a frog jumping in water after hunting on the ground

Very unexpected. Genshin has one of the best music for a video game btw. It would be cool if you check out more since they also complement a lot of traditional musicians and instruments into their music with EDM, dubstep, and so forth.

OST of Genshin Impact is honestly a masterpiece. The sheer amount of different themes in each piece that tell a story is just outstanding. It's the part of the game that actually makes you keep playing :D

Azhdaha and La Signora's boss themes are also good if you wanna give them a try.

Btw there is a part where the boss charges up a nuke and the music starts fading slowly it’s like you’re losing your breath and about to die (you have to race with time to survive the nuke it’s really immersive)

You know a boss is hard when his soundtrack has Latin in it

I like Alex's (the music producer youtuber) interpretation of the end of Scara's music (at 16:30+). When you have all this buildup, but not quite getting the dramatic end we all expect -- it's like Scara almost getting thiiiis close, very close, to achieving his ambition but still never did. And from then on, I can't unhear that. I'm not a professional musician -- but I really appreciate good music, as well as any music appreciation reacts/videos/sessions esp ones I can relate (eg. here is because I play Genshin).

Seriously what's stopping Genshin from winning all the best soundtrack awards Music is consistently good 😭

Genshin is a treasure trove of good music and it has MANY passionate fans willing to hear analysis on it. I'd love to see you continue with Genshin music, the boss themes are a good place to start but the live orchestra recordings are incredible as well

the reason for the robotic sound over the voice is because the voice is the character we're fighting, and he's in this big robot turning into a god. it's like his voice is muffled ! he speaks in italian to talk about his godhood, and switches back to japanese to talk about his past after the 2nd phase japanese instrumental drop, because he's originally from the japanese inspired region

The 2nd phase of the boss' OST is a banger!

genshin impact music always mixes and mashes different styles of music from traditional to new funk electronic and from various different cultures as well. They always make a masterpiece

Former Opera Vocalist here. Love your perspective! Genshin really is a gem when it comes to their music. As a gamer it's beyond incredible, but the musical composition is extremely interesting.

Yue Peng Chen (the composer of this song) said that this was his most technically advanced song. I love anything he does, and this was the first boss music I’m straight up just vibing with

I recommend checking Tartaglia (Childe), Signora, and Azhdaha's boss themes. The regions' music are also really nice, but I'm not sure which one to recommend because there's a lot of them. Maybe some music from Sumeru or Enkanomiya, since a lot of people really like those areas' music

The high production budget of Hoyoverse allowed them to record orchestral tracks with added region appropriate instruments played by local musicians accustomed to those authentic musical flavors. Then they combined it with pop-, rock- and electro music to get something absolutely unique & fresh. Hope yo react to more tracks from Genshin Impact. Oh yeah. The concerts were crazy good too.

If you loved going through different styles and ages of music, you'll definitely love Azhdaha's and La Signora's Boss themes from the same OST. They are something out of the ordinary. Every single boss theme done by HOYO-MIX is just above the others.

Genshin is such a goldmine of well-crafted music. Every melody over the last two years has been absolutely wonderful and the story behind the music is just as good!

I want to note a few things i noticed and analyzed from the ost, this will not be spoiler free so read this at your own risk ! The mechanical and robotic type of music is very clearly used because of his Mecha form, but always mixed with classical elements to portray Scaramouche's emotions that he's so desperately trying to get rid of. The Fatui leitmotif is consistently used in every phase, despite him leaving the fatui, he would never have gotten this far without them, only with dottore and the sages help was he able to ascend to divinity. The little maraca shakers in the back of phase 1 are actually the same as when used in a fandango - clearly a reference to bohemian rhapsody's "scaramouche, scaramouche, will you do the fandango?" The tenor is supposed to represent scaramouche. Initially people believed it was his Chinese voice actor, but this has been debunked - it's just a singer that sounds a lot like him. The beat in the transformation theme sounds like a beating heart - the very thing scaramouche was looking for his entire life. The organ is a symbolism for the church and religion, a connection with Scaramouche becoming a god. The Inazuman music throughout the second phase symbolizes that despite being in sumeru and having a sumeru vision, he is still inazuman, specifically a creation of Inazuma's goddess. A huge chunk of his life was spent in Inazuma, his homeland. The Inazuman music can also be played simultaneously with the Raiden shoguns boss theme. This is a minor detail, but the Raiden shogun and Scaramouche's playable model both have a small insignia on the back of their necks. When putting them back to back, they connect into a full circle. The tenor solo conveys scaramouche's suppressed sadness, pain and agony. The feeling of being "thrown away like worthless dross" by his own mother, Katsuragi's murder, Nagamasas betrayal, the death of the sickly young child he took care of still haunt him (Chanting) Novis Natus = New born, referring to the sages creating a new god by using Scaramouche as the vessel There's definitely a lot more that i haven't mentioned, but I'd love to hear what else people have found out !!

so.. the reason for such a VARIETY of music styles is because the boss is from a region thats sorta based from japan, named after a character from italy, is part of an army based off russia, AND the boss fight itself takes PLACE at a region based off like india and the middle east TLDR: the boss is Mr.worldwide and is from EVERYWHERE all at once

I love how especially with the soloist in the second phase is there are a lot of moments where it feels incredibly melancholy with the chord structure, and it goes from that to giving the feeling of being not exactly emotionally neutral (it still feels very sad), but this sort of resigned version of melancholy. It's so good and fits Scaramouche's character so well.

Literally the best boss music ever,I literally add it to my playlist and it made me love scara even more ,I would look forward to his boss fight bcuz of it x"D

Genshin impact have a marvelous OST reaally recommended, Raiden shogun demo theme, rex incognito, azdaha batthel theme, of course signora battle theme, and porto ormos theme, really all the music yu peng chan made is genius

There's a recurring riff in all of the Harbinger's themes, as well as an operatic melody that ties them all together. They're all so unique and different, it's really immersive in game, I really suggest you check out La Signora and Tartaglia's themes. Really just any soundtrack from Genshin Impact is amazing, and it's all orchestrated by one person. My favourite game by far.

I have no memory of this music. I was so immersed and blown away by the plot I didn't even notice it.

If you haven't already, I also recommend Childe's (aka Tartaglia, another Commedia Dell'arte character like Scaramouche and La Signora) battle theme as well! It's called "Wrath of Monoceros Caeli" It's got a lot of interesting meaning and even a slightly sad fact in it (that fact being it contains a sound frequency that's the same as the loneliest whale in the world, 52 hertz blue, when his constellation is a Narwhal)

This boss is born from a god of a country based in Japan, then Joined a organization based on Russia, then we first met him in a country based on Germany, and then finally fought him in a country based on east asia.

Please listen to Azhdaha's battle theme, this was such a great reaction...!! They often change musical influences in a single track in this OST.

the reasoning of why it jumps from russian/european-ish sounding to a more asian sounding is because, the boss here was originally from INAZUMA (Japan based land) before he became a Harbinger which is a more russian/Euiropean-ish vibe something.. I hope that made sense why there is a fusion between these two type of sound :) great analysis!

I've binged watched almost all your videos a while ago and have been absolutely taken by Scaramouche's theme ever since it came out. I was hoping to see you react to it and my wish came true! So happy about it. You should try more of Genshin music, it's great quality.

I love watching music analysis over many different game music and I found this channel. I think it is currently the best channel I have ever seen in terms of having both true emotional expressions and accurate musical analysis. Not to mention the excellent voice line. Sometime it is very interesting to see people reacting to games OST that they never played which means music comes without any biases.

the reason it jumps across the world is really interesting and has to do with the backstory of the boss, the boss is originally from an area in game inspired by japan and was made to be the "god" of that region but was rejected, and his boss fight takes place in an area inspired by parts of the middle east, south asia, and north africa so the music tells his origin story in a really cool way

Interesting bit, the organ piece that starts at 10:18 is a leitmotif for the Fatui/Harbingers (organization the character belongs to). Those notes have been in every Harbinger boss fight and this time is played on the organ which is most often used to represent Snezhnaya(country the organisation is based in). A lot of great musical storytelling within this piece but this part is one of my favourites.
