Great content. I also think writing in specific gnere has a stronger statement than writing in different gnere. If you can write in different gnere, that's great but when sending to library, I think sending them the gnere in which you are strong gives a strong statement than sending 5 songs in different gnere. Will be happy to hear your thoughts.
Hey there! Yes I think there's a balance to be had here. If you're strong in a genre, you stand a good chance of success as your music is probably better and more convincing than if you write in another genre. If you need to expand out of that genre for a library (if they are over-subscribed in that area for example), it makes sense to stay close to what you do well and see if there are solutions there before moving way out of your wheel house.
I made an orchestral/pop/rock album called "In the Heights Above", aimed at drone footage and aerial shots. Do you think I picked a useful title or is that too ambiguous?
Hey Jason! What a cool idea of making an album for aerial shots, you’re already thinking in a way that many aren’t. If submitting that album to the library, be sure to tell them the concept within the cover email of course. They then might want to tweak your title, (or not! “In The Heights Above” is a good choice. “From The Heights Above” might also be a minor change worth considering.) The other considerations might be to get even more obvious with the title; “Aerial Footage”, or “Scored From The Sky”, “Views From Above”, that kind of thing. But either way, sounds like a cool concept and that you’re on the right track. You might even want to create some artwork to go with it, couldn’t hurt, right? Good luck pitching it. 👍🏽
