I was lucky enough to see this original band reunite for one night at the old September's niteclub in Cheektowaga, somewhere around 1988-89 I believe. When this song started, the entire place went bonkers. Thanks to local DJ, J.P. from then station WPHD for giving this airplay so often. Wonder if he has this in his collection now at Buffalo station WECK?
Can't believe this song finally made it onto RU-vid...one of my all-time favorites!Would love to get a recording of it...Mp3, cd, vinyl, wax cylinder...whatever! Heard this originally on 'WPhD Presents Western New York's Best New Talent' album. Thanks, Bob!
WYSL....Great song. Top hooks and vocals. Should have made it out of the WNY region as a hit. Bob..thanks for the post...and for THE CLASSIC Buffalo music!!
The vocals during the verses sound like all harmonies with no vocal bottom, plus the slow instrumental part in the middle of the song absolutely kills it. It's sad - I love this song. I know how to mix them and with a few hours in the studio I know I could have fixed this beautiful mess. It's a shame. Today this type of song would never work, but it could have back then and might have been the break out song for The Road.
Wow....I've been looking for this forever!! Does anyone know if there are any recordings of The Road from the early 80's? We used to hear them at The Surf Club and they were so incredibly good!!
Hey!!!!! After the Road kicked me out of the band for getting pregnant so many times--and replacing me with Sal Joseph --he was excellent!!!!! Saia made me the roads "manager" Kenny always hated me even though it was me who talked him into becoming a Road member (he was the piano player for my Aunt Maria Callas) I always thought MUsic Man should have had a bigger beat but Sal couldnt play like that. I always figured him out to be the drummers excuse of a pianoman. Soft--even though he went on to be with STYX and other notable bands. The flip side was even sort of better--Hard to tell you goodbye--Phils vocals were second to none--as always. The best song that Kenny EVER Wrote was "Take My Hand" I would love to record it. Tell him to check me out on facebook-----J.Nick DiStefano-Phillips
