I have a sterling cutlass and love everything about it. I changed the 5 way switch because it was a bit scratchy, but it wasn't really necessary. Well worth what I paid for it. And I don't constantly bang the volume knob like when I've played strats.
im 61 and have worked retail from late 70s til mid 90s and collected bought/sold traded more guitars than l can remember. l kept my USA Steinbergers and my 2nd year EBMM eddy V. l cant tell you how many offers lve had on that guitar. lts very heavy but has incredible playability and tone. lt literally has never needed to be reset-up. Perfect intonation and tuning stability.
Greetings fellow USA Steinberger owner! Mine is approaching 30 years old now and was my main guitar for many, many years, until I got my Majesty. Nothing feels like an EBMM.
Mine's a Dime tribute ml. Had it since 06 and it's been through hell and nothing's ever moved on it. Been perfect since the day I bought it. Been a long while since I've played it and I could tune it up right now and I'm guaranteed satisfaction.
I love watching you two come around on these newer, modern appointed guitars (particularity in the “metal/prog” space like the Kaizen). The interviews with Aaron Marshall, John Browne, etc. are super informative, very unique and masterfully conducted. Right on 🤘🏼
@@KenithCopeland Hey been interested in the Valentine for a while now but can't really buy any here in Europe, I am mainly a HSS strat guy but wanted to get something different in the future so that I have two main guitars for live use, one HSS/maybe HSH with a good trem and a hardtail guitar that is a different to the one I mentioned. What guitars did the Valentine replace, what genres do you play with it, what is it good for, etc?
I have a majesty. Jp6 and a valentine. For some stupid reason I was looking for more single coil sound and bought a squier tele and a prs bluesky se. The Valentine blows them away on both sound and feel. The valentine neck is perfect and so easy to play.
@@markcarter5438 We play everything from pop to heavy rock music so not sure if I ever see the Valentine sold here in the EU to spend the big bucks on it or better to buy a really nice HSS strat.
I can’t afford a Kaizen anytime soon…but badly want one because it’s the most innovative blend of new & traditional that I’ve seen in decades. And the craftsmanship & tooling to build these is impeccable!
The Kaizen sculpture carve is beautiful and you guys should also get your hands on some Parker guitars. The contour would blow anything else out of the water. You'd get the feeling it just wrapped itself around you.
I agree with Pete, I typically go for very classic-styled guitars and avoid the pointy, super modern styled stuff, but there's something about the Kaizen that is so sweet! Crossing my fingers for an eventful Sterling version though because I don't have 4 grand to drop on one guitar 😅
I have to say, I agree with Pete's sentiment on the Kaizen. Such an incredibly cool guitar. Same thing for the St Vincent, more specifically the Goldie models. Killer guitars and incredibly unique
This video inspired me to seek out the 30th Anniversary Luke 4 and I feel so grateful that I managed to snaffle Andertons' only example of just 150 Anniversary L4's to be made…And what an absolute privilege. Thank you Captain and team…It's a work of art and an absolute weapon…I shall it treasure it and look after it well, for whomever gets it after me…I'm just a custodian.
The Luke has always had commentary about the neck, but I have no problem swapping between it and a Strat, Tele, Les Paul. Don't let the neck profile put you off, you'll get used to it - incredible guitars!
If I was in the market for a new guitar at that price point, then it would definitely be a Music Man. I don't own one but they are on my guitar to buy list :)
The Silhouette is a key part of EBMM history and should be more celebrated, I agree, not least because it's a fantastic guitar in its own right. I love my Strat and my LP but my Silhouette Special is my most playable guitar. Best neck I've ever played.
That said, I do wonder if EBMM is slowly phasing it out. The Cutlass and Sabre must be cutting into Silhouette sales, and there's definitely an overlap between all 3.
@@cchuvan Very true. I guess they're trying to cater more to Fender fans instead of pushing their own designs, and reissuing the pre-Ernie Ball designs is a cool move too. Even the Luke 3 has abandoned the bevelled body horns of the Silhouette range and the Stingray 5 and is moving away from their earlier design language.
Yeah. It's cool that a company patented a design that was in production for over a decade before they even existed and several before they used it. Very cool.
I bought a Squier CV Jag & a Sterling Cutlass to shoot them out. (I know they are very different but I could only buy 1). They were both on sale and I kept the Jag cuz I had been wanting one. But I’ve regretted returning that cutlass ever since. It played, looked, and sounded so good. Chunkiest neck I’ve ever played. (It really does make chords easier but shredding slower). I would love to try a USA MM Cutlass.
Its a shame the Silhouette lineup is dead,I think it was the best MM guitar ever made, that silhouette special with the dimarzio hss configuration was so versatile!
Always loved the look of the Axis’s, Silhouette, the Majesty and JP. I had a lot of time with a JP15 and for the hands it’s awesome, but the pickups are too dark and hot. If you could get more traditional pups with the piezo and all I’d be dreaming about them now. Only dreaming because their high priced high end guitars.
IDK, Ibanez has Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, and PRS has Holcomb, Orianthi, Santana, and a plethora of others. Don't get me wrong, I have a Kaizen and it's absolutely second to none. BUT, I think EBMMs artist roster isn't quite as strong as Ibanez or PRS.
I love my Jems and Parker Flys but I've always wanted a Majesty in 'Majestic Purple' or 'Enchanted Forest'. Might have to add a Kaisen in 'Kryptonite' to the shopping list - it IS uber cool... 🤤
I have five in my collection and a few sterling’s as well . I have little hands so I’m in love with these necks . Some of my friends like them as well but with larger hands it takes some getting used to . I wear medium gloves at the factory so yes small hands . The sound of each guitar is very unique in a good way of course.
That blue Luke 4 does not have regular pickups. Those are the new Ernie Ball Music Man HT pickups... hence why the guitar comes with SSS configuration for the first time.
Love my kaizen and about to pick up another EBMM and want it to be very limited. Going to get either the 6 string Majesty purple nebula or the 8 string majesty crystal amethyst. Need an 8 string and love the low production of the 8, but that purple nebula finish is just nuts and I think I’d find myself playing a 6 more vs an 8 despite having many 6’s. Great guitars!
Way out of my budget but those 8 string Majesties look awesome...the amethyst finish in particular. And Pete's little demo here really showed how useful the piezo is when you can blend it in with the magnetic pickups...even nicer in coil split mode. Similar sound to an acoustic guitar but so much easier to play! I saw Tosin playing a Kaizen at an AAL show recently. He used it on a few songs including The Woven Web but I think he shifted the heavy riff that goes down to the low F# up an octave as I don't think the Kaizen is going to go down to drop E. Interesting to see how he changes things up a bit...I've never heard them use trems in their music but now both Tosin & Javier have signature models with trems it's cool to see them add in these little embellishments live. He also pulled out an Abasi with some 8 string Fishman single coils. I suppose when you're at that level you can ask for whatever you want and companies will make it for you.
I do love my EBMM dark ray, but I’ve yet to play one of their guitars. I’d love to get a kaizen but that $$$$ is quite the investment. Need Bea to come out with some more fun colors too so I can support him by getting his sig.
finally you have something good to say about MM unlike those times when rob chapman always had something snarky to comment on MM, not to mention how badly he plays them and how bad the tones he dialed for them.
Haven't tried a Majesty, but my JP6's is basically the same width as my Ibanez Prestiges, just not as flat. The fretboard on my Axis feels tiny! Too bad the prices on the MiA EBMM guitars has pretty much doubled in the last 10 years. Such awesome instruments, but just too pricy for me to buy another.
mm is a weird market. i have one. quality is obviously there, but i think their demograph is really small. i never hear anyone talking about them. doesn't seem to be a go to guitar for many players
Maybe I missed it, but are all these guitars going through pedals into an amp? If so, what amp, or are you using the Headrush as the amp in 4CM? If that's the Headrush, it sounds better than I remember!
