I know you said Go The Distance seemed like a weird song choice for this medley, but I've read that each song represents a different kind of love. Romantic love, motherly/familial love, and finally self love. I appreciate that it goes a little deeper than just romantic.

First it's love for another, and then love for family and finally love for yourself. Beautiful

Thanks Chris. The reason that Jeremy and Kirstin smiled so much was they were just in awe of the sound surrounding them. There is a very short clip of them all rehearsing around the piano and both of the "kids" muffed it up and basically said.. I just can't and Jeremy pointing at Kate, the 1st soprano, just shook his head... too good"

Wonderful video, Chris! I realized something interesting while watching, though. A Sing-Off winner is reacting to the performance of a finalist from his season, and one of the winners of the previous season. Irony at its best.

Kirstin is a Disney Princess in my book. That last note she held is amazing to me.

Thanks for this Chris. I never realized where Voctave started, so I learned something.

I enjoyed watching it! I think Chris' voice is like a prince too, so it fits the Disney song. I am still watching the RU-vid where he used to duet with Tristin🥰

I love Kate's control to be able to soar so high without being overpowering. The video for their Princess Medley likely is live recorded as I recall it's a single shot with someone moving around with the camera.

That is a talent that is so underappreciated. Anyone can belt, but can you sing REALLY high without overpowering everyone in the studio? I was in choir for 14 years (12 in school and 2 in church) and most people couldn't seem to grasp that high notes don't have to be horrifyingly loud.

I believe the video is a montage of multiple live sessions to allow the camera person or people to get the various shots needed. Parts of it have Kirsten and Jeremy facing each other, in other parts they are standing at right angles to each other.

yeah, its not really live sessions per se, theyre all lip syncing to what they recorded earlier

Aside from Jeremy giving Kirstie some of those smiles I think he is actually smiling at those crazy high soprano notes. There is a cute BTS vid of Kirstie/Jeremy rehearsing with Voctave. 🤯🤯 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rjZpz0EvnV8.html

Nice reaction, thanks. However, after having watched many of their videos, I think you may in error about it not being live. All the close up shots are done from a distance with telephoto lenses. But, what ever. Ive seen them five times live and they are just as amazing on the stage as they are in the studio.

The songs make a "love medley" because they showed (1) romantic love, (2) parental love, and (3) self love (acceptance of self).

Good reaction. Great a cappella talent there. Speaking of great talent, we saw Home Free at the Florida Strawberry Festival today. Your brother’s beatboxing was unbelievable.

I laughed when the "Ooo, that's nice" arranger geek jumped out. Yeah, my favorite part of that arrangement also. I I was a bit surprised that you never commented on that soprano they've got that is constantly cruising around not so much in the stratosphere but more somewhere the other side of the moon. Now, for some somewhat Voices of Liberty and related stories you might (hopefully) be interested in. Bryan Hardin sang in our church choir many many moons ago (he auditioned and was chosen for Voices of Liberty while singing there) for a while and even took over directing for a couple of weeks when our primary choir director was over in Kyiv Ukraine. I am a bass/baritone and when Bryan sang behind or beside me it was truly a wonderful rehearsal or performance, what a voice. He sang an antiphonal (center rear balcony, spotlighted in an otherwise dark sanctuary) a Capella solo rendition of "I Wonder as I Wander" that was so captivating and moving that when he ended Roger just let the complete and total silence hang for about three or four seconds before saying "Bryan Hardin, ladies and gentleman". It was powerful. I think that one might have gotten an Ooo out of you then, had you been present, maybe in a slightly different tone and feeling. :-) One of those magical moments that infrequently occur every now and then. Our paid choir director at that time, Roger McMurrin, began Music Mission Kyiv and brought much of the music of Bach, Handle, Verdi, and all the choral and many other classical to contemporary masters to their beautiful, formerly Soviet controlled city, to present these works, often for first hearing for many of the Ukrainians attending those concerts. The are a goodly number of Russian and Ukrainian composers who composed great music, but can you imagine hearing the entire rest of the world's greats, including like, well, BACH for the first time? He accomplished this utilizing members of the Kyiv Symphony and professional choir members from the area. He went over for the couple of weeks Bryan directed, then promptly deserted us (kidding, but it really was a loss, he brought the techniques and knowledge gained from personally singing in choirs like Roger Wagner's and I remember one local critic, reviewing a presentation we did writing something like "church choirs are not supposed to sound like that", so it was fun. He ended up continuing this, living in Ukraine, until his retirement decades later. He really loved those people. The Ukrainians I met, were, almost to a fault, some of the most gentle loving people I have ever met. I remember a story, related to me by my father, who toured with them here and recorded several of the Ukrainian concerts with his self designed home made capacitor mics and equipment (DAT had just hit the scene, and Dad, too, was an engineer) of them going into a grocery store the first time and several of them laughing and jesting that they'd seen these kinds of stores before (govt showcased versions that looked nothing like the typical outlets, for propaganda show). After seeing about five or ten different ones along the trip they realized it was just a general run of the mill Publix or whatever, and one of the more elderly soprano soloists broke down and said "We are so poor". Heartbreaking. That very same soloist gave my parents a beautiful set of Matrushka dolls, handmade, so they may be poor, but they are open-heartedly giving as well. My mother pointed out to her when she said it that they may not have much in the way of material things and amenities but that she thought that was probably one of the reasons they had such a strong community. I remember reading about a guy who discussed and taught about that a bit, guess he was right (the reference is obvious). What is going on over there right now is beyond an atrocity. Sometimes the 'love your fellow man' is pretty much impossible in every case with individuals like Putin in existence. I don't love him, I don't like him, I'd like to see him ended, period. Can you imagine being a guy like that, one that if he acts on his insanely ridiculous and infinitely irresponsible threat could actually possibly end civilization? If he does let loose, and people actually follow the command, everything as we know it is most likely history, at least for the foreseeable future, maybe for millennia, maybe permanently. That is not hyperbole. These TV shows purporting to show a post nuclear world haven't even come close to what the reality will look like. He saber rattles all the time wrt nukes and hopefully this is just more of the same. It's hard to believe that there are people in this world that think their 'winning' is more important than humanity as a whole. If that isn't the very definition of insanity, I don't know what is. He is obviously delusional, if he really does believe Russian troops would be welcome with open arms, and I'm not at all sure he didn't. I am disgusted with our govt's stance on Ukraine. We flat out ignore a country that has fought tooth and nail to get a duly elected democratic govt, one that has actually brought them amazingly less corruption that previous versions, and is actually bringing some joy, prosperity, and freedom. And one with an INTELLIGENT leader that actually has the convictions to fight PERSONALLY for his countries right to exist, and what they have accomplished. I KNEW they would react as they have, unlike the US they very much know what it is like to be subverted by the very entity that is now trying to crush them yet again. In WWII we took the stand we are currently taking toward Ukraine, and the other previous satellites that have already been assimilated, almost Borg style. It worked so well then. I suspect it will work pretty much exactly the same way now. Laying low is sometimes not the best course of action, or inaction as the case may be. Putin is quickly running out of non NATO countries to invade, so quite soon he will be after countries we are REQUIRED to support with our full military. Waiting is not likely going to improve the situation. Russia will be weakened in the short term, but if they succeed, maybe not so much in the long. I fully understand why Ukraine being a NATO member scares the hell out of Pootin, the Russians are maybe one of the few more highly paranoid peoples on Earth than we are, and we were not any too happy with the nukes headed for Cuba at the time. My father was heavily involved with that little endeavor, but that's a story for another time. Suffice it to say that what you read about actions like the Bay of Pigs have virtually nothing to do with what went on at the time, and Kennedy was absolutely no god, saint, or genius, not even the tiniest slightest little bit. I can't think of a leader we've had in my entire lifetime I would even qualify as intelligent. Possibly Obama was near the top, but his 'transparent govt' turned out to be utter lies, as is always the case. Back to music. Sorry about the interim, but this matter is really impacting me. Rutter is one of my favorite contemporary arrangers, his "All Things Bright and Beautiful" or "Gaelic Blessing", which our other goofy somewhat irreverent other earlier director used to call the Garlic Dressing are a few good examples that come to mind. Rutter held the Chair at Cambridge and also had a magnificent choir there, but you probably know all that). The current situation makes me very mad and very sad, I actually met and hung with a few of the Kyiv orchestra and choir members from the tour to the states when they were in Orlando for a few days, and several stayed with my parents in Ocala. It infuriates and frightens me to think about what they are likely enduring right now. Hopefully many got out, but with the men being required to stay, obviously they did not. BTW, all the 'hero' garbage that gets thrown around in the media today over entertainers and football players and the like is also a bit irritating. The fellow that blew himself up on the bridge, knowingly, because he either had to do that or allow troops over that bridge to kill hundreds or thousands more people in his city, and likely his family friends and neighbors. THAT is a hero, that is what the word intended. Cheers, for what it is worth after all of that, but sometimes stories need to be told, especially when they are so currently relevant. There are times the Disney 'rose glasses' (worked there for years, again a whole 'nother story) need to be removed.

It's apparently been coming for years through complicitness and greed on a lot of politicians' part. Ton of Clinton donors are in Ukraine, and it wouldn't surprise me if other politicians have stuff somewhere like that too. Also, it was formed around 2 sets of people that apparently don't really like each other, so could be some civil war stuff, too. Defense contracts are major $$$. Definitely a mess. :/ Many prayers to the regular folk.

Thank you for this! I was watching a Cinderella lyric video. I thought the song was called: " l will be brave ", but it was Christina Perri's, Thousand Years. In the real world we can still find brave hearts. Cometh the hour! Cometh the man! Cometh Zelenskyy!

Voctave, at least, is probably not lip-syncing. I have seen the members talk about the music videos they have done and they say are actually singing.

@@charliecampbell6851 Yeah, Kurt von Schmittou, the Baritone of Voctave has a RU-vid channel where he says that he's in the recording but couldn't make it to the recording of the video. And you can see they did multiple shoots because in one Kirstin and Jeremy are facing each other directly and in another they are at 90° to each other, which confused me for a long time because I thought it was one setting.
