I still have those today..heavily modified. It's just a computer in a case. Easy to upgrade, once you understand them.

i build PC's....this chassis is like a tower....which makes the guts upgradeable....what the problem here?

I bought the Neko TSE when it first came out and still have that thing. So sad they went out of business. I did the windows 7 upgrade with them but really wish I could do a whole 2020 upgrade with internal parts and windows 10. If you figure out how to do a 2020 upgrade we’ll have to talk business. Great vid!

You should run device manager from the start menu and check out what devices may not be enabled due to either driver/hardware issues. Sometimes re-installing the driver from there can fix your problem. Also, it'll help you identify what is the specific model of the hardware that may not be working correctly so you can specifically search for drivers online for that model hardware to download and re-install.

I miss my Miko. I had the LX5. I went to the next level with it, as I had only had Reason 3 and a crappy 88 key midi controller before it. Damn, I was just a young 19 year old doing his thing. Now I have a crazy studio and so many great tracks made with artists around the world. It feels weird thinking about where I started.

Put omnisphere on there! Its litereally a portable studio.

I read that someone thought of intergrading a NI Machines into it, removing the typing keyboard & fader controller, replacing the motherboard, basically guttin it out & startin from scratch.. At this point that is where I'm at.. It's just a shell til I completely rebuild & modify it..

The MIKO had everything built in, they could remake it now & it would be soooo dope..... all it would need now is pads.

I have yet to find one of these that actually works. I once had the opportunity to get the large one that was used for Prince's performance at the Superbowl Half Time show. If course the unit was fried from the rain. The keyboard ended up in the dumpster.

I played one at the Hollywood Guitar Center when they were still almost $5k - many years later I got one for cheap... old gear now running WinXP, but still fun to use and can be upgraded to a new motherboard and WIn10 if you prefer (always a potential driver issue though) - love the old E-mu plugins 🙂

I will say, I regret it also. I still have my Neko. XXL Windows 7 64bit 4TB storage Quad Core. I keep it because of all my legacy sounds from ensoniq and NI. It's beautiful and was a beast, but the ergonomics were counter productive.

man! I watch some videos with guys upgraded it to a new board with and Intel i7 same Timbaland edition. I also seen the xxl version upgraded fully with all new components for still the going price. That is a great find. I would factory restore that bad boy. That was the keyboard to get, remember mysto and pizzi had one back then.

depending on the CPU socket type, you could probably upgrade it to a quad core... Or you might be able to swap out the entire chipset.. and still have a pretty usable all in one chassis

Well sir I am happy to say that I own a miko ec5 and I was sooo lucky I was able to get the win 7 64 bit before they stopped the support for them. I actually have the drivers on a hard drive that they sent me. I’m running studio one 4.6 and have pro tools 11 on it with fl and she still rocks and kicks ass for me. The audio interface popped on me a couple years ago but everything thing works fine except the screen that went out too but I have external monitor for it 💯 it’s still a beast lol

The OL MIDI panel does not seem to work past Windows 1803(Build 17134).

Have you connected it to the internet to update the driver? Also try going in windows and check the midi settings. The midi settings should be setup the same way as if you was to connect a midi keyboard to a normal PC/Mac and was running Reason or any other DAW.

Man the first 2 to 3 lines had me dying lmao Duel core processor with 4 gigs of Ram … 09 had i7 out I remember having debates about this product I was like it’s an xp that comes with free vst’s lol

I've still got my Miko Tim but I've upgraded the control panels, motherboard and processor to a 980X and run windows 7 and OSX on it, but I use my MacBook Pro and MPC Live a lot more lol

When the logo freeze it's most likely something on the hard drive you have to get rid of a corrupt file i had this happen tons of times back in the day.Usually an easy fix.

You think for that kind of money OpenLabs was demanding for their products that they would at least do better cable management under the hood for an off-the-shelf PC connected motherboard.

It's basically a pc build with piano keys lol. But still, this is THE MOST ADVANCED keyboard I have ever seen. Imagine back in 2008!!!

Interesting video. At the end of the day its just a computer. You can fix almost anything on it. the only proprietary thing are the panels. The IO is a passive IO that just passes through for the Presonus. But you can use almost any interface and i would because i wouldnt put much faith in Presonus quality. The Qwerty is built from common at the time parts and runs on the default drivers. You can put PCI cards in. We use to put in UAD cards or better interfaces all the time, you just need to measure and be sure, some video cards would be too tall or something like a long pro tools card would be problematic cause its touching the southbridge heatsink. I notice that yours has the stock intel fan on it. that was added later at some point i suspect, we used different fans(or somebody fucked up), I actually hate those stock ones, lol. So as to why yours doesnt boot, you need to approach it like troubleshooting a computer. Your master panel is shorting. unplug the usb, it might be a frayed cable or the panel, or a psu. Try a new PSU for real. if that doesnt work message me i can prob fix your panel. Here are the real drivers you might need for such panels. Cards work fine in them the hood doesn’t hit them at all. I added a Wi-Fi card to mine.

I saw one of these at a local pawn shop years ago for $1250. Open Labs went out of business, so no thanks.

Wow man lol. I remember a couple of buddies that had these. One had east west colossus. The sounds would load but warnings popped up about ram being full. The other had a studio and i tried to talk him out of buying one lol. Later on he bought a damn mac pro intel for about half the price of the neko smh.

Always thought this was one of those "I got money" studio flex moves to show off. Sad part is this was nothing but a midi keyboard strapped to some software and hardware so if you didn't have one you weren't missing out. I do remember a lot of people desperate to sell their and get some of their money back over the years hahahaha

I'm trying to repair mines as we speak but I own a Neko QX6 not a Miko and I'm pumping money in this thing and hoping for the best. but my concerns are ...say I miraculously get it working again how can I get the Windows drivers to get these working parts working properly. and can you tell me what the VGA card number for the internal touch screen display it will be very appreciated.

Did u get it to play? I think its telling that not even Timbaland himself has a vid making beats on this. I don't think it was very successful at all.

Being an IT pro i was never impressed by this when it came out, it was overpriced as well for what it was , even if i found the idea cool. There s nothing special to it, its only a pc in a bigger chassis to connect soundcard etc. 20 kilos wasnt even that portable. When you think that now we can do dope music on an ipad haha

When this thing come out 11 Years ago: everyone,... i mean every one i know, laughed at that product. At that time i worked years with a Mac and Windows was dead for me because it is not stable at all.

Do you need drivers and tim bios for this? I still have the upgrade hard drive for this unit.

Kind of Reminds me of the Korg Kronos. Similar concept, except the Kronos runs on this weird linux OS.

I got a Miko LXD from 2010. It gets stuck on the boot page. Very sexy unit. Anyone out there know how to upgrade it. Please send me some info. Peace.

Get rid of that ram. OL used cheap chinese off brand ram which caused them to crash or not load. Ive had my neko since 2011...today..its fully loaded and updated with 2 SSD, i9, 32g ram

Get a new drive and get someone with the same machine to send you an image or the company to send an image... You have driver issues and probably from memory location conflicts...

That must be absolutely terrible for ergonomics. I feel my neck hurting just watching this video.

Sadly the company doesn't exist anymore as they were way too expensive for the mass market that end up as a failure. Laptops and mobile interfaces have became more accessible and way more affordable.

I ALMOST bought the Neko XXL...price was $8,700!! I called "Open Lags" so much with questions that I got to personally speak with Victor Wong regularly...in fact I still have emails between he & I, lol. Needles to say, he brought it down to $7,200 then $6,800 with a whole bunch of Free VST thrown in as a bonus. Still, thank God I didn't pull the trigger.!! Maybe in a decade If they turn out to be High Priced "collectibles" I'll...never mind. The idea that these will go up in value is laughable considering how expensive they used to be for such little computing power...
