LOL reminds me of - I thought using loops was cheating, so I programmed my own using samples. I then thought using samples was cheating, so I recorded real drums. I then thought that programming it was cheating, so I learned to play drums for real. I then thought using bought drums was cheating, so I learned to make my own. I then thought using premade skins was cheating, so I killed a goat and skinned it. I then thought that that was cheating too, so I grew my own goat from a baby goat. I also think that is cheating, but I’m not sure where to go from here. I haven’t made any music lately, what with the goat farming and all.

Sometimes a sampled beat just does sound so much Richer. I made a guitar sample beat the other day and it came out full af. Beautiful. I played the guitar so technically made the sample, but the beauty and raw energy of a recorded real instrument can't be denied😂🔥🌊

I hate using already made samples as the base of my beat. I love using plugin instruments and one shot drum kits. I’ll use vocal samples to add a little flavor but as far as using looped tracks and building around them is a pain in the brain because it limits what I want to do

People who use samples need to take some music classes. This is the truth, if you can only create by samplin someone elses work then stop being lazy and read a book, take some music classes. The same loops you are using everyone else in the world are using also. I live in Detroit the birthplace of motown and i listened to two artists in the area who used the same loops for their songs. Now both of them can possibly end up in court fighting each other. Even justin bieber used some loops that other people used and he may end up in court. Dont use loops or samples if you want to avoid problems. There are people out there just waiting for someone to blow up so that they can sue them.

if you sample who cares BUT you should be able to make stuff on your own. Because if you got a dope idea and cant make it - you simply cant make it. if you rely too much on samples you probably wont get as far as a person who can do shit on their own. but you should also not avoid samples if thats what you are going for. some sounds only have their certain characteristic because they are samples.

I really just enjoy making my own loops. Sampling sounds and instruments I do all the time for sure but when it comes to melodies and loops I have never used one I didn’t create myself.
