WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE ABOUT MUSIC STREAMING RATES & DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES? Let me know so I can try to address them in my upcoming videos! :)
Have you heard about TuneRegistry?Should I sign up with a P.R.O + them to collect everything? Or a P.R.O + Soundexchange, SongTrust, TuneCore, ETC. Kind of confused which is better... & I appreciate you, I liked just about all your videos and I’m subscribed 💯😄
@@YattaBeats yes, I know about TuneRegistry. I understand your confusion though, it's a lot! I think a lot of your confusion will be cleared up when I post my digital distribution companies vs publishing administrators episode in 2 weeks. I will explain factors that will help you make the decision for what is right for you. & thank you so much! :)
Heyy Tynia Coats , I asked a few questions before on how to properly do splits. I have a new question. I applied as publisher and song writer with BMI. Paid the $150 and everything. I signed a few things, but it’s been a few days and I haven’t heard anything from them. I was expecting an email or something at least. What are your thoughts? Am I being impatient?
Aww thank you so much! I definitely work hard at it and also just love the business side of the industry. Well I don't love the politics lol, but I love that I have the knowledge to pass onto others.
@@tyniacoats You are welcome Tynia, lol, me neither do not like the industries' politics. I'm proud to say i'm going to also refer others to your channel.
A world of blessings to you 💞...I only encountered your amazing intellectual work last night and as an independent artist from the Caribbean island of Dominica and signed to the PRO - ECCO, I am willing to use your videos as my building blocks... you're my musical protein... appreciloved and you're my Queen 👑
Awwww ;D of course we understand you are doing your very best to support us all while also studying so that you are in an even better situation to help more people. All your generosity is deeply appreciated and we much value your precious time, energy and gift of information dear Tynia . Have a beautiful few weeks and may everything go your way with ease
If you are a non U.S citizen exclusively signed up with an American PRO like BMI, can that make you eligible to sign up with a pub admin company like song trust and be able to collect your mechanical royalties?
thank you very great info! just started working on my streams in sep 2019, now i have a little over 1.5 million streams from tidal, napster, spotify and apple, my question is, why do the distribution companies vary so much with royalty payments,? spotify and apple seems to pay the fastest, but why?
I appreciate you... I dig on your edits and the timing... It'll get smoother still I'm sure, but... Strong work. Thank you for your vote of confidence (that comment you gave me about the intro to On the Shoulders of Giants)
Oops its call The shoulders of Giants (right? The file is named a little differently in like 4 different hard drives cause I'm always refining right up to the point of release)
What if I'm a songwriter and I'm not signed up with a Publisher. The artist is with a record label and they use Tunecore to release the album. How can I make sure I collect mechanical Royalties as a songwriter. Do I bring up Mechanical royalties to the record label? or do I go solo somewhere on my end to collect those royalties? the song has already been released. and all I did was copyright it and put it on BMI should I have also done a contract with the record label about the mechanical royalties? I think they are soon switching with Universal as their publisher. so im not sure how to protect and claim my mechanical royalties
I just registered with BMI. They’ll get back to me this week to start registering my music. I have distrokid. Do I need to register with Harry fox agency as well?
1. Masters from distribution companies (i.e. TuneCore, CD Baby) 2. Performance from PROs (i.e. BMI, ASCAP) and finally… 3. Mechanical from the Harry Fox Agency, which I still have no clue about. Anybody know enough to explain the HFA?
If I dont have a publisher but the other artist featured on a track does have a publisher, do I have to give them 100 percent of publishing or do i write in my own name as a publisher even though I dont have a publishing company? So i can get my 50 percent ?
You give great info, and with a real world presentation. Wonder if you've done anything yet on the Harry Fox Agency, and when or if it's advisable to affiliate your publishing company with them. I've only just found you, so apologize if you've done this to death. lol Btw, you're a cutie.
You’re the best when it comes to giving game about the music business in such a simple understanding way, u earned a subscriber and you’re unbelievably gorgeous which makes it even easier to watch you compared to a random dude in a studio who never actually worked for BMI, I love you ❤️
Hi Richard! I actually just covered this topic in my newest video: SPOTIFY ROYALTIES | APPLE MUSIC ROYALTIES | WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT MUSIC STREAMING RATES; hope it helps you!
love this Tynia! Thanks for the great content. I just came across your channel while writing up a producer/ artist contract. Do you do 1/1 calls? If so, where would I sign up/ learn more info about it? Have a great day
