I heard Billie has synesthesia, it's where one or more senses overlap. It happens to 4% of the population. You get things like people seeing sounds as colors. A disproportionate amount of artists have synesthesia of one type or another. The singer Lorde is another. There are people who literally feel music/sounds like touch. So it's not that out there that he may have one of the 75 identified types of synesthesia. (or a completely undocumented one) And be an audio empath is a sense.

Did you just coin that term? ;) I like it! I feel like it's a pretty rare affliction, as I've never known anyone else to have such a profoundly emotional connection to melody. When I saw him tear up, it was like seeing a reflection in a world without many mirrors.
@t3hsis324

@@securamox2536 beautifully put. Sometimes music is so powerful, so emotional I cannot consume it. More often than not it engulfs the senses in a good way, and I love it.... Certain genres, artists are so powerful on the emotions I have to be careful how much I consume. Sounds cray but say a binge on Amy Lee (and she is fucking talented, do not get me wrong) will put me in a really deep depression if I'm not careful.

Yeah, that picture of her she was given in Montreal. She said she was suddenly 'so star-struck at this picture' of her. And the image was so strong she had to use it. The funny part was that she basically made the whole video herself, shooting her mom sitting how she wanted it to be, going through every camera angle, when in the song she wanted each event to occur...she still has the video of her 'being a f***king dick', and basically made the whole video step-by-step, so the director just had to make it happen in the studio, rather than having to create anything, or fiddle with the angles or timing... She's just so damned amazing.

The more you delve into her videos, you’ll find that they can mean so many things. She has been orchestrating all her videos in a way that she comes in with hand drawn storyboards, knows how she wants the camera to pan, knows what colors she wants used, etc. Recently she has started directing them herself. They usually have a shocking factor to them. She’s incredible. Just like the music here gives a little taste, then goes all in, you can see her contemplate the black liquid, then slowly pick it up, then take a small taste, then gulp it down. For me, like one other commentator said, the black liquid represents the toxicity of a relationship that you know isn’t good for you, but you can’t help but continue to consume it anyway. Eventually, all that emotion has to be released. I think the lyrics indicate she’s being used and controlled and is trying to break free. “Call me friend, but keep me closer.” The demanding “Call me back!” “Nothing is better sometimes.” “Let me let you go.” She is a master at drawing out emotion and that’s why a lot of people relate. Genius, pure genius. More suggestions: “idontwannabeyouanymore” vertical video “You Shoukd See Me In A Crown” there are two videos. The vertical one gets the best reactions. You will think it’s CGI. It’s not. It’s all very real. “Ocean Eyes” her breakout that got her noticed on SoundCloud. Recorded when she was 13. Sorry for the lengthy comment. I will keep suggesting as you work you way through. There are way too many.

I was introduced to her with Bury A Friend when I heard it was about her experience with sleep paralysis and night terrors. I immediately fell in love with the song. I then went on to Ocean Eyes while dipping my toes into Bad Guy. Once I learned she had a nurturing environment where she was encouraged to express herself musically, and her brother is a producer I took it as just a teenager being a teenager, and now I love it. When The Party's Over and Everything I Wanted help get me through the deepest depression days. Something about feeling the bad feelings all the way through is cleansing. She's a musical genius, and I love her and everything about her. I stan her live performance where she talked about beauty standards and pressure, while a background video plays of her slowly stripping out of those loose clothes, down to her skivvies, and dipping into a vat of dark liquid, so you only get a taste. You don't get the whole thing. It's so artfully done and I just stan everything about this amazing young woman. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Billie Eilish.

I feel like Billie's songs are made to be interpreted. I personally first came across this song when I was being dragged through a messy breakup that was strung out for a year. I loved him, and I'd do anything to help him, but he kept me at arms length, and used me for his benefit. So I really relate to the lyric "call me friend, but keep me closer." as well as "let me let you go." It's not easy finding yourself walking home at 3am most nights wanting to talk to that person and be with that person, but this song helped me through a lotttt of those nights, lemme tell ya.

It's beyond that her diction is great, it's beyond the poetry, it's even beyond the sheer musical genius of the creation of the entire sound of the song, it's literally the relatability of the entire emotion that occurs inside of anyone who has experienced this level of heartache loving someone who doesn't feel the same way. She can transorm that emotion into art, musically, lyrically, and visually. I am beside myself with her talent and greatness.

If you listen to her show "me + dad" you'll see she gets that from her father. He has issues when people drop of parts of words most of the time. He does give passes when he likes it. But they go through music they've shared with each other and specific sounds and words they love in the songs. It's very interesting and has exposed me to a lot of new music or not "new" but stuff I'd never heard.

Huge fan of Billie and Finneas since the first time I heard them. I also suffer from chronic depression since like 15 years. I chose to never watch the videos. The lyrics, the silences, the ups and downs, the "sounds" they add to the music, the way each word is said... They really are a wonder team. At work and in life. The songs never bring me down. They express and perform feelings that I've felt many times. And all I feel is that I'm not the only one. I'm not alone. It gives me comfort. Like so many times in history, pain inspires art. The only sad thing is that Billie experienced so much at such an early age. The amazing thing is how she and her brother turned it into something magical that touches people of all ages across the world. I can't wait to watch them grow, as humans and artists. I care about you Billie. And I would notice.

The first time I watched and listened to this song I bawled. I have felt all the emotions she tells in the story of her lyrics and the visual of wanting something ev ven though you're scared to actually take it and then having it just consume you and overflow out of you it's very real. My experiences of such darkness literally involved drinking - I would go to parties with the express intention of getting drunk so that I wouldn't go home alone.....and yet still I knew that no matter what, I'd still feel lonely the next morning even if I didn't that night. And so in the morning I would feel so overwhelmed with darkness but I couldn't help doing it again and again because those moments of not feeling alone in the darkest hour of the night were somehow at that time worth it. So that's what the song feels like and is about for me.

And this is why Billie Eilish has so many devoted fans. She wise beyond her years. All the harmonies are her voice overlapped over and over and so it sounds like a choir singing background. The song is about a dysfunctional relationship where one person blames themselves for how uncaring the other is. The chorus says it all. "I could lie, say I like it like that, like it like that"... the acceptance of being mentally abused. Yet, they want out of the relationship but feel guilty for leaving the other person. When I first heard this song I cried because I identified so completely it was scary. As a poet, it spoke to me loud and clear. It's brilliant. She's kicked down the doors of modern pop music and made it have meaning again.

I'm obsessed with the lyrics as much as the music in a song, but I feel like this man gets me, in terms of how he feels music in such depth. I'm sure many more are like that, and I'm nothing special, but music is always next-level with me. Anyways, I'm curious if he's reacted to anything Meg Myers before. I would love to see him react to Heart Heart Head.

The first time I saw this music video I cried because she put the experience of a toxic relationship in visual and musical art. It feels like you are willingly drinking poison because there is no other option in front of you. It corrupts you and spills out and you become toxic in your own pain.

I actually watched her appearance on the Howard Stern Show where she performed the song before I watched the music video and she performs it live. it's just phenomenal but one of the first things she says is how it's really early in the morning and the song is 2 octaves so it's a very difficult song to perform but still she killed it.. it's honestly beautiful to see..

To me, this song is about how painful it is to love someone who sometimes treats you as just a friend and sometimes like they love you as more than a friend. You know it's not good for you, but you drink it up anyway. Then you get shoved back in the friend zone. You can lie and say you like it like that, but nothing is better sometimes. No talking, no phone calls, no contact, because it hurts less than the hope getting smashed does.

I’m a big Eurovision fan (and some of my videos are going to be surrounding that when it’s on yearly). Oh Boy do I agree with the pics of those singers you popped up who don't enunciate. It drives me nuts. Are you aware she won 5 grammies from this album at just 18 years old, and her brother Finneas won producer of the year working with her on it? They recorded the whole album in his bedroom when she was 16.

5 Grammies!!!!?? They're so young but soo soo so creative!! I'm blown away every time I hear their music. Usually I have artists I really like but have some songs which disappoint me. While I'm a Billie Eilish noob, I still haven't found one that's disappointing! Music Teacher Reacts Actually, they won ten Grammys together! Five each. Which is even more mind blowing. And on top of that she’s the first artist since the 80s (second ever) to have won Grammys for all the top categories in one night. At 18. And Finneas won producer of the year, she won best new artist. And the other four top categories they both won together.

The song is about being in a toxic relationship (friendship or otherwise). The glass is all the toxic stuff and she's resistant at first to take it all in, but eventually does. But it's too much for her and she cries it all back out again in an attempt to let go and walk away. For the video, it was all done in one take. If you watch it back, you'll see no scene cuts at all. The liquid was a combination of charcoal water and other stuff to make the drink as black looking as possible. She had two people below her siphoning the stuff out into a jar with a tube from the glass, but she still got some in her mouth and swallowed it in the process. Worst stuff she ever had in her mouth she said lol. The tears were done by tubes coming over her forehead and into the corners of her eyes. they used computer to make the tubes from both the tears and the glass disappear but that's the only thing done with computers on this. There was no CGI :). Edit: Incidentally, you don't need a wikipedia page to tell you about her music. There are SO many interviews with Billie and her brother Finneas about their music that you'll be able to hear directly from them what the song was about and how they did their videos. Finneas writes the music with her and they record it in his bedroom at their family home. :)

Everyone here’s talking about something like a “toxic releationship“ and thats right but it i‘s also able to be interpreted diffrently and she also told once in an interview that her songs and lyrics can have a any meaning to whoever‘s listening...so I think the song‘s also talking about (in general) the pain ,in this case the dark ink, you swallow soo many times even if you know its not good for you at all but you won‘t show any feelings..till some day everything is getting to much and it comes all out cause you just can‘t hold it anymore. It kind of represents what especially young people have to deal and struggle with today..in such a sad generation .
@Shrimpy389
@Shrimpy389 4 года назад
@Lorena Klein You seem to think that it's just this generation that's sad. It's not. This is the first generation that Drs have seen that "growing pains" are real. Before now, young people have had to live with mental illness that could've been helped with counseling etc. It's a sad world out there, always has been. Being young isn't easy.

Her brother produces her. Her parents encouraged her and her brother's enthusiasm for music as children. She can play multiple instruments, and has vocal training. She's absolutely stunning every way. I watched her live performance where a video played of her where she slowly strips down to skivvies and walks into a pool of a dark, viscous liquid while she talks on stage about how everyone expects something from her, either to dress modestly because that's what she's done as a teenager, or to show it all now that she's an adult. It's a work of social commentary and art married in the most poignant and beautiful way. I was introduced to her with Bury A Friend. I heard it was about her experience with sleep paralysis, and I had to watch it. I then discovered Bad Guy, Bellyache, Ocean Eyes, and many others that I just love every aspect of. And that doesn't happen often with me. I'm quite picky.

"What's she drinking?" Second in my list of cheerful observations is that the liquid in the glass is actually powered activated carbon (albeit mixed with xanthum gum to keep it in suspension for the video). This is the same stuff they give you in hospital after an overdose. ... whether that is deliberate or not I have no idea, but I suspect it is. It's certainly consistent with the emotions expressed, and themes in other videos. I have a theory that this video leads into Bury A Friend's video (which to me has a psych ward vibe), and that in turn leads into the All The Good Girls Go To Hell video after she dies. To me, the twitch in the middle of the video looks like a representation of her Tourette's syndrome (not a true tic but an artistic representation of one, maybe). Again that's just my own theory + not confirmed. Take a look at "You should see me in a crown", the vertical video version (not the other video). Much more upbeat, although with a sinister tone. Both videos are good, but the vertical video is much better for a reaction channel.

Turns out the video portion of the song was inspired by a fan art made of her crying black tears. Bury A Friend is about her lifelong experience with sleep paralysis. She talks about her music videos and what inspired them in interviews all the time. It's a fun concept, though. Most people think When The Party's Over's music video is about a toxic relationship. That's the beauty of art. It can mean to you personally whatever you want, even if that wasn't the original intention. Also, my interpretation of the twitch was that it was the poison causing pain in the body as it starts to run its course. But now I know that not only does she have sleep paralysis, she also has tourette's syndrome. Poor Billie. She's too good for this world. We don't deserve her.

I just heard a song of hers for the first time a few days ago called Six Feet Under. It was a single released a few years back, and it’s a gorgeous song. Not sure if it’s one you’d want to do a reaction for, but it’s definitely worth listening to. She does have a music video for it, but I personally prefer her acoustic versions (I just think it’s really well suited to that acoustic sound). She recorded a version for NYLON (it’s loaded here on RU-vid) and it blows me away each time I hear it. I think it’s just called “Billie Eilish Performs for NYLON,” though I could be remembering that incorrectly. Anyway, it’s a lesser known song of hers but well worth the listen! I love it!

I first heard this song after the 3rd friend died in a year; the perils of being sick, you make sick friends. I always was told I’d go first. Bury a friend I heard the day he died. Found LP lost on you that day...It also gripped me and they both inspired me to finally sing. My mother was a singer songwriter who died when I was 15. If you grow up with that...it’s hard not to feel you have no voice. 20 years on I face my mortality and have learned to sing, learned chest voice. Yes; I was the rare throat voice speaker...it’s been wonderful to see her evolve. See the lyrics be more her less her brother. I’m glad I survived to see it. It’s beautiful. You’ve earned a subscriber for your honesty and seeing the things I see. You know the “I” 99% of people hear when it’s left out? I know if it’s there or not so music is my language these days. Not sure if you did “muddy waters” live with wood barn background feel. Same place as “lost on you” I’m a muddy waters girl. I am lyrical...lol you doing Hozier will take you to a different plane. I chose to be a writer rather a musician. I wish I’d seen myself as I was while I was young and free. Thank you for your honesty and I look forward to seeing more from you.
