When I met WATAIN at an in store they had a chalice of blood and they splashed whatever they signed for you with blood. They were in a small room with a very small red light, it was eerie as hell....I LOVED IT. I met them again in March...can't wait.

Hey you guys, just wanted to say this was hilarious to watch but as a HUGE fan of Watain, the way you described the video after watching it is exactly how you feel watching them live. Right down to the nasty overnight intestine smell. If you plan on standing afar, that is very much recommended

Haha! Couple of things... they DO stink! I believe that in their video, they are wearing mostly their live gear (although it looks like Erik got new boots) and as far as I am aware, they use it for extended periods of time without ever washing it, allowing it to decompose with blood (and whatever else) added at the shows. It smells like it looks like it smells, and from a distance. I've seen them 6 or 7 times. They use blood at EVERY show (as well as real rotting animal heads sometimes), which, for all intents and purposes, are legit satanic rituals. It's not a bucket, it is a chalice. It is an EXTREMELY powerful experience and would NOT be the same without the Devil's blood, as the use of it fully immerses the crowd (or the first few rows anyway) with an experience not just for the eyes and ears, but for the nose, skin, and (if you're not careful) tongue as well. Furthermore, there is much more going on than just a show. The ritual is sacred and it's elements are above (or below) whims of any attendees. It is one of the most horrendous and beautiful of things. If one should expect anything from this band, it is real blood in the live shows. They are known for it and getting surprised by it would be the fault of someones own ignorance. Anyone not cool with that should not come or get a balcony seat. Hail Watain.

WATAIN IS THE BEST BEAND TO COME OUT SINCE THEIR BIRTH!!!! ALSO....THIS..is what you get LIVE!!!! Maybe not in the States thanks to assholes Great White but..this is what metal is all about. Huge stage show, brilliant music...all metal. Now they receive flack from "the underground" because too many people in their opinion like them. See the underground people would hate you guys...because THEY feel YOU should not be listening to this. Fuck the underground...a bunch of losers who never made it. I am an old Kreator fan and to me it sounds very little like Kreator. They are WATAIN, they stand alone.
