Idk if anyone explained but, it’s a song that explains how many times 2 people are together not because you love each other but because you’re used to being together. And that they keep coming back together over and over. It’s a “costumbre”, a habit, to keep coming back. Rocio was from Spain, that’s why you hear that Arab influence in her vocalization, it’s from flamenco, which has Arab influence. I love this lady, when she passed away in 2006, oof it hurt!!

There hasn't been another Rocio Durcal and boy, have many tried but even to cover her songs has been so difficult. She really created her own vocal style. She makes it look so easy but a lot of people go out of key when singign her songs or can't convey the magic she delivered. Spanish singers usually have the flamenco style which is kind of Arab and it's believed to be their influence. Rocio didn't even had a lot of it but she combined that with the Mexican style and it was beautiful and unique. What you've seen of her it's just the tip of the iceberg.

My mother was very good friends with her.. they met in Vallarta and became like sisters. have memories as a little little girl being woken up at night at our place in Vallarta because they’d (the adults) stay up till late and she’d be singing. Today thinking about it I wish I had been an adult or at least old enough at that time to had been there hanging.p with them. She was always loving and sweet, big smile and very happy. You pointed out that at one point rocio’s singing sounded like an arab technique or style of singing. Spain has a huge arab/muslim influence in the sense of culture, arquitecture, and even language ! The moors ruled spain for hundreds of years at one point

She is Spaniard. Consequently, she had a Flamenco way of singing like most of the Spaniard singers. It's true that this type or style of singing sounds very Arabic and even Indian. I think that was part of the Arabic culture left in Southern Spain, which was inhabited by The Moors or Arabs. The gypsies also have this way of singing. If you want to hear that justs listen to Lola Flores or Rocio Jurado, tow singers from Andalusia, the Arabic territory until 1492 when they were expelled from Spain by the Catholic Queen and King Isabella and Ferdinad. This song is about a couple that ends the relationship and find out that they can't stay away from each other because being together became a habit, a tradition. They don't feel anything from each other. However, they have a hard time to move on because the tradition of being together. They miss each other and they realize that "La costumbre es mas fuerte que el amor," Tradition is stronger than love.

Boudyyyyy!!, what a wonderful reaction to COSTUMBRES = ACCUSTOMED TO in this case. Thank you 🙏 Of course it had be beautiful with Roció because it’s my adorable Juan Gabriel’s creation just for her adjusting it to her voice and personality with a little touch of Spanish flamenco there💃 Translation: Costumbres = Accustomed Tell me about yourself, tell me about your life, you know very well that I am convinced that you cannot even try to forget me. Whenever you will come back, again and again, time and time again you will always come back, although you no longer feel love for me, just a resentment , I don't have anything to feel either and that's worse but I miss you, oh how I miss you!!…. there is no doubt that it is true that custom is stronger than LOVE. Rocio Durcal was from Spain (she died in 2006). The Arabs were in Spain for seven centuries and left an enormous influence on the culture, music and way of singing. Although this song is by Juan Gabriel, Rocio added that Arabic influence to it and it turned out wonderful. Tell me about you Tell me of your life you know very well that I am convinced That you can't Even if you try to forget me You will always come back, again and again And again you will always come back Although you no longer feel love for me, only resentment I have nothing to feel either And that's worse But I miss you I miss you too There is no doubt that it is true that custom It's stronger than love

“Costumbres” in this song can be better translated as “habits”. It talks about about how you could miss someone not because you still love this person, but because you were used to their presence. “ You come back to me over and over, although you don’t feel love for me , only resentment. I either have anything to feel But I miss you… Oh how much I miss you.. There’s no doubt that a habit can be stronger than love.” This is actually one of my favorite songs just because of the poignancy of the lyrics.

The translation isn’t tradition but habits. The theme of the song is a person telling their ex that they miss each other but not because they still love each other but because of habit… getting used to someone. The lyrics say that there is no doubt that habit is stronger than love.

Hello friend, awesome reaction! I know this is about more about singing analizing, in the case of JG/RD, is very important to know the lyrics, with this song is even more, since it is about acknowledging that a relationship of love is already exhausted and there is nothing to do about it, and of course the sadness that comes along with it, and that we stick to relationships because of costumes. Therefore the main and strong conclusion of JG, saying “The costumes are stronger than love”, which is the end of the lyrics, a very important song in the mexican collective culture, and finally, but as important as everything and a touch of geniality, the phrase of the trumpet which you identified wisely is repeating itself throughout the entire piece as the very “costume” itself, representing the feelings of the lyrics that we repeat in life on and on… you chose the best very version of this song, the most mature stage of Mtra Rocio Durcal, thanks!!!

Costumbre is a habitual way of acting or behaving. In other words, how you are accustomed to being. The song says: no cabe duda que es verdad que la costumbre es más fuerte que el amor = there is no doubt that the truth is that custom (being accustomed) is stronger than love. In the song even though he doesn't love her anymore he still goes back to her because he's so accustomed to her.

Mexican culture has a very strong oral tradition. Our music is very deeply tied to that tradition. That's why singers and vocal interpretation are a huge part of Mexican music. Ask any Mexican (especially from an older generation) who their favorite "musician" is and they will almost certainly give you a list of singers. Part of Juan Gabriel's genius was his ability to compose simple yet elegant musical melodies over which vocalists like Rocio Durcal could create their own vocal melodies and interpretations over the music. The music lends itself to allowing a singer to interpret the song how they feel it. So your conclusion that a different singer would interpret the melody differently and sing it differently is absolutely correct. Couple that with Juan Gabriel's amazing capacity to write some of the most beautiful lyrics that are also telling you a compelling story and you can understand why so many artists always want to record his songs.

"No cabe duda que es verdad que la costumbre... es más fuerte que el amor": Literally, "Without a doubt, habit is stronger than love"; about when a love relationship has lost its spark, fallen flat, and now surviving on inertia. And even though the love is gone, the separation is still emotionally brutal, heart-rending.

*Customs/Rocio Durcal Tell me about yourself, tell me, about your life. You know well that I'm convinced that you can't even so you try to forget me. You'll always come back time and time again time and time again you'll always come back even though you don't feel love from me anymore, only rage. I don't have anything to feel either and that's worse. But I miss you, I miss you too. There's no doubt that it's true that customs are stronger than love. I know that you can't even though you try to forget me you'll always come back time and time again time and time again you'll always come back. Even though you don't feel anymore love from me, only rage. I don't have anything either to feel, and that's worse. But I miss you. How I miss you. There's no doubt that it's true that customs are stronger than love...
