Great voice, astoundingly handsome back then, very good guitarist and singer, but was overshadowed and eclipsed in the industry by so many other notable performers, Bob Dylan being one example.
Always one of my favorites. Takes effort & talent to make that spot for me. Don't care about how popular or number of big hits. A lot of those big acts don't make my top favorites.
He wrote some great songs, no doubt. His biggest commercial success was Lynn Anderson's version of "Rose Garden." It was a worldwide monster hit and remained the biggest by a female country artist for 27 long years.
