This song is from a Chinese competition called Singer in 2017. Dimash was the youngest participant (22 years old) and the only foreigner. He finished second in the competition, but won first place in the hearts of the Chinese people. I regularly watch the whole show, it's so amazing to follow Dimash's path through the competition. Btw. Dimash did not know English at all before the competition. Many Dears (myself included) think it sounds absolutely adorable when he sings in what we call "Dinglish". Another cover he has changed into his own is Lionel Richie's Hello. Thank you so much for another really great Dimash reaction from you. Love them all😊👍

You would really appreciate a Queen medley by Dimash and the Super Vocal Group. Even if someone was not a Queen fan, everyone loves this medley.

The first part of this song Dimash's face and eyes are dull and empty, showing hopelessness. The second bit he uses a higher voice that sounds like a cry, showing the inner feelings "Inside my heart is breaking...". The next bit he sings with determination, not to give in but to keep going on with the show. The final part where he gives it his all, is the show! Going above and beyond! Well, that's what I see in this performance. Thanks for your great reaction!

Some of Dimash’s I Am Singer 2017 performances were in my opinion his best. He was young, 22, innocent and mesmerising with the voice of an angel and the stage presence of a seasoned performer. FYI, Dimash had only a smattering of English here and learnt the song phonetically - brilliant performance.🙏🏻🇦🇺

Oh, I like your reactions! It was so fun to see how you enjoyed Dimash's interpretation of the song. It's always exciting, because one can't really know for sure what he's going to do. It's the unpredictability that makes even a cover song so captivating and bewitching. As others have told you, Dimash didn't know a word of English (ok, thank you very much...) when he came to China (and no Mandarin either). Eventually he got better and spoke something we Dears called Dinglish (a language very dear to us). Today he speaks English with accent. A reactor said once: "May he never lose his accent! I associate the accent with his voice and somehow it makes the performance even more unique" (not an exact citation).

Did you hear that rock voice in the beginning when he hit that high tone, he only did it one time. But it was definitely a rock voice there. I'm curious of when he's original rocksong will come. He have done some contests in his life but the one I think got the worlds intension is "The Singer" (Allso called "I am a singer" or "Singer") from China in 2017. The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500. Dimash Qudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside). They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night. Dimash got many new friends from this show and he said at some point he learned a lot from it to. Dimash made this song his own, a tribute to Freddie but also with his seal on it. His voice let you feel the emotional charge of the song, it is overwhelming and powerful!! As one of the contestants in the backstage said it was “killer” … 🎤❤️🔝🌹🌹👏👏👏👏👏

Yes it was a singing competition and yes those were his fellow contestants (feel sorry for them). It was "I am Singer" (China) 2017 (he was 22 yrs old) and he opened the competition the 1st night, 1st performance with "SOS", which was AMAZING. I know you reacted to his 2021 version of "SOS", but in your free time, please check out his 2017 performance (perfection). It shot him to overnight fame in China, where he woke up the next day needing bodyguards. He went from total anonymity the day before, to being chased by a mob of Dears (not yet named at that point) the next day. Not sure if you know this, but when his debut album was released in China, it went platinum in 37 seconds. At this time he didn't speak English (barely) so he learned this song phonetically, that is why his pronunciation is not that great. I know you have reacted to his more recent performances, so you can hear how much better his English diction has gotten (he has worked hard). If you have time, you should really checkout his other performances from this competition (except "Uptown Funk", lol), they are amazing. You have really become a real dear. As you can hear, his English wasn’t that good at that time. Another cover, from the same show is ADAGIO, original from Lara Fabian. Here, he really gives it all.

Ok can we disagree. Love this song. Dimash is completely extrordinary gifted, however his version was lost in translation and lacking for me. Freddie's original still out numbers this rendition.
