Musician Ren Gill on psychosis, public healthcare and amassing millions of followers 

His work has hit home with many generations . I’m 60 and have been deeply touched by his work. One guy wrote that he was older than God so out of Rens expected demographic audience but Ren does not seem to have a specific demographic

I've seen several of his interviews and he really is a deeply intelligent, incredibly creative and empathetic guy. It's always awesome to find an artist who isn't just making something you like to experience, but also happens to be genuinely lovely.

@aiistyt don't get me wrong. Jeff is on another level. He's a massive influence on ren actually. What i mean by generational talent is literally that, I'm not comparing them as artists. They both totally free in they're expression. Warts n all. Its all about the story/ message and emotions that drive it. In that way they're similar.

@@bryden72I’m 67, grew up with the most amazing music. Jeff Buckley was OK to good - no more. REN is a better guitarist, pianist, singer and writer. By the way “ok to good” is impressive given his contemporaries.

For me just as getting diagnosed with MCAS and trying to learn more watching lectures about it. Then Hi Ren came up in autoplay. And he has accompanied me for many ED visits this year, and been shared in the waiting area with others, and been shared with my nurses, doctors, psychologist, psychiatrist, clinicians and b more. In ED even the MRI technician played me a 90 minute Ren playlist for a scan, and for the first time in MRI that claustrophobia and noise assault and extreme pain wasn't an issue.

@kegalormoon very good point, because without cross checking with other people you wouldn't know which parts of your experiences are within 'objective' reality.

@zaveeramini9712 some time ago boy hood school friend would start to go offish a bit and would know and go home and take meds and go to sleep but some times because I had known him for so long even when having fun I would have to say scotta think you need some med discreetly of course I was a sin to see hin like that because for years before it appeared it was some sort of schizophrenia that slowly developed as he got older from his young teens but is not nice seeing someone you know change slowly or fast at times sometimes it would be a slow onset into the other person R.i.p Scott you were a great lad always the happiest guy in in the room we scored those goals in the cup final and were doing parkour before the name had ever mentioned yet god bless you scott

@kegalormoon I feel your pain man. Some close people to me suffer from certain conditions and it's painful watching them waste away like that.

That's one thing that makes me respect him so much is how real he is with giving other people the attention even though he's the main person we are following. He's not greedy. He shares his space without hesitating.

Ren's genius has been rightfully praised plenty already, however, combine this with being independent of a record label allows Ren to make the music he is capable of and is what make's his art unique. This deserves all the support we can give him.

Lol. “A bard of Shakespearean levels”. Pure hyperbole and, frankly, utter bollix. Only someone who hasn’t read Shakespeare could make such a fatuous comment. No one, I mean quite literally no one has touched the genius of Shakespeare not only in terms of his quantity of output but in just how rich in human wisdom virtually his every line is. This guy isn’t even a minor footnote to the likes of Shaky.👍

​ @titteryenot4524 Absolutely agree. I've listened to Ren and I like his art and a way of storytelling, but saying that he's some kind of unreal genius is a bit much. There's loads of musicians who create meaningful art, but they are not swimming in the mainstream most of the time. Probably that's why people are so surprised and say things like that when one of those 'poetic' guys suddenly gets more exposure - they are just not used to it :)

He has had both.

My understanding is that the autoimmunity affected his brain causing psychosis. So a physical illness that went untreated caused his psychosis. But I could be wrong it could be the medication he was given as a result of his misdiagnosis caused his psychosis. Sadly whichever way it happened Ren has suffered from Psychosis.

​@julianginniver5785 He got misdiagnosed for around 7-8 years ended up finding out he had Lyme disease that caused symptoms.

Ren mentions that he suffered from psychosis and auto immune disease at the end of “Hi Ren” during the spoken word part. 😁
