How can people think it's not Momoko? Maybe they weren't a fan of hers before she joined Babymetal, but that's her voice, I know it. Momoko is known because she loves monologues, in Sakura Gakuin she did several of them. She also has experience in theater, and she has mentioned that she loves it, and this is just an Traditional Kabuki theater monologue, perfect to her. Also to top it off her dad is a famous comedian who has told stories in the Kabuki style as well. What we didn't know is that she could make a guttural scream like the one she did at the concert yesterday, that did surprise me.

祭りだ!わっしょい!!🏮 It was the same with megitsune, when a song has a lot of Japanese culture in it, it is difficult to explain. Read only if you are interested, as the content may be a little removed from the song itself. METALI is a word that adds METAL and 祭り(Matsuri=festival). And this song is a representation of a Japanese 夏祭り(Natsu Matsuri=summer festival). For us Japanese, these sound and lyrics make our Matsuri blood boil. Matsuri is the heart of the Japanese people. It is said that there are a total of 300,000 festivals in Japan, both large and small. Matsuri means a ritual for worshiping Gods or Buddha, or an event held in gratitude towards nature. 神輿(Mikoshi=portable shrine) is a carriage for Gods. In the festival, Japanese people get around the Mikoshi and carry it on their shoulders in order to worship Gods. While carrying the Mikoshi, the carriers will yell "Wasshoi, Wasshoi" or "Soiya, Soiya" or "Sore, Sore".(However, the calls vary considerably from region to region.) 神輿(Mikoshi=portable shrine) and お囃子(Ohayashi=festival music) of Matsuri have a history of more than 1,000 years and are etched in the DNA of the Japanese people. "Pii hyara" in the lyrics is the sound of a 篠笛(Shino bue=transverse flute) used at Matsuri. "Dokkoisho" is the voice used when lifting heavy objects, but it is also used in shouting. MOMOMETAL speaks in the middle, that is 歌舞伎(kabuki) speaking. The lyrics "Odorin chai" and "Utain chai" are in the dialect of SU-METAL's birthplace, Hiroshima. In standard language, the words are "Odori nasai" and "Utai nasai", meaning "you should dance" and "you should sing". If you are interested in Mikoshi, musical performances, etc., please search youtube for these characters and watch the videos. When the Japanese see this, our blood starts to boil. Mikoshi> "2011 焼津神社荒祭 1" ohayashi(festival music)> "お囃子乱舞!" Festival dance> "REDA舞神楽 【YOSAKOIソーラン大賞披露演舞】" From Japan🦊

During the talking part Momoko was centre stage at yesterdays concert and there was a scream/shout added. Japanese fans where insistent it was Momoko, but you never know with translation issues. I'm sure someone can provide you with the fancam. There's a Kami band intro and lots of back & forth talk with all three members and the crowd. They'll likely perform Metali at Summer Sonic this weekend. The second day with BABYMETAL will be livestreamed by WOWOW. BABYMETAL Tube are showing it live and someone will capture it.

I didn't recognize the spoken part at first, but after I heard people speculate, I believe I recognize her voice. I can absolutely imagine her saying this (and acting it out) with her scrungy face we know from SG. Regarding the screams: Apparently Momo was lipsyncing the spoken part, and the screaming wasn't on the recording. So everything but her adding it live would be a little strange. Again, with that in mind, I believe I recognize her voice, but I won't rule out that it's my mind playing tricks.

People relate this to Papaya, because both songs are about festivals. Where Papaya was about a summer festival, Metalli is about a metal festival, in a metal village, but a more traditional Shinto festival. And they're shouting "wasshoi". Something you say at festivals, like "sore sore" and "dokoisho". Just traditional chants. That spoken part, is Momoko doing and old lady impersonation. And yeah... Su's singing is totally different. Feels more adult, just like her singing in a lower registry . 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻

MOAMETAL: It's MOMOMETAL-sama. -Oh, really? That's surprising! SU-METAL: Most people don't know. We don't get to hear her voice much anyway. The musical elements sound like inspired by Bon-odori(traditional mid August dance festival), Awa-odoriferous(..another local and traditional all night dancing festival…their saying is “hey dancing fools and watching fools..as are the same fools..it’s your waste if not dancing!” that Momo-metal is saying in Japanese in the middle, followed by ‘Metali! metal!’, posing like a Kabuki actor’s to show up their faces to the audiences.

@@whargapmoe if you're refering to Su's last wasshoi high notes, i think it's not yodelling, but rather a vibrato. I love how she's experimenting on vibrato a bit. in the past she mentioned in one of her interview that she's the type to sing straight without any added effect like vibrato like this. she's pretty conscious of it and worried a bit that she might sound boring. also, this part reminds me a bit of Jack Black's vocal on high notes lmao

@whargapmoe 10 месяцев назад
@@bufosp yeah she's belting there but when she belts she usually never uses a vibrato- they are usually a straight note (also unusual for a singer) this one sounds like she started maybe 2 notes lower than where she ended. Also think the vibrato was used to carry into Morello's guitar work! Which is also cool. I love it when Su uses her vribato because its usually soft and adds texture to the song. -I like Metal Kingdom because she uses her lower register for the song and has an awesome showcase of the vibrato.

The talk of Japanese Twitter was Momo's solo dance. The idea Momo shouted was not mentioned until people who heard the recording started discussing it. The fact you are stating that people who were 'there' were talking about it is just wrong. You can tell from the audio recording it's likely backtrack if you are wearing headphones. Su's live vocals are obviously coming from the front of the phone, at the stage . Whereas the old lady voice and the scream is omnipresent. If someone was shouting like that, the person is close enough to the stage, it would be obvious if it was live vocals.

Tom Morello’s influence is all over this song, so it sounds quite funky and different to most Babymetal songs, and Su is really expanding her vocal range and repertoire. The way Su is singing Wasshoi almost sounds like an Australian accent like at 8:21 on your clip.

The riff sounds a lot like Gaddaar from Bloodywood.

Cause they are both inspired to RATM sound ... mixed with folk music, Indian there, Japanese here... similar paths lead to similar results. 🤘🦊⚡️

@@DeePal072 Granted, but in this case here, it's practically the same, maybe on a slightly different key. You would have told me they did a collab with them and I would have believed it. Then again, maybe Bloodywood ripped it from someone else also 😁

9:55 Well to be fair Alan, the one with Lil' Uzi Vert was his song, featuring Babymetal, this one is Babymetal's song featuring Tom Morello. Besides, people who knows Tom Morello at least a little bit, understand that they're more "in tune" with each other's musically.

Su's a vocal genius man. I am so happy hearing her singing a new style. Very versatile. Can't wait for this live😭😭. Cool that the monologue or something was Momoko, she has her own center stage. I couldn't recognize it because I never heard her talk, I thought it was an old lady, lol. She did great (if it was really her).

Better than any other collaboration? Including Road of Resistance? xD In an interview the girls confirmed it was Momoko, but at Summer Sonic they didn't do it live it, it was on a backing track, so we can't be 100% sure. In the same interviews, the girls said that this song is kinda like a mix of Megitsune and Papaya, and I kinda agree :D Papaya because it has the summer festival feeling, and Megitsune for the traditional japanese feeling. Good song. About Su's singing style while it's unmistakenly her, all I can describe here is she's singing it aggressively with a little bit of Enka style here and there and I love it. 👍

I absolutely love Su's "wasshoi". This song is a "Brett" as we say in Germany. But, Momoko's part takes me completely out of the song. -.-
