Musicians react to hearing DPR IAN for the very first time! 

He does play bass himself so that is a reason why he adds it into his songs. His music is also a reflection of himself and as you guys read in a comment most (if not all) of his songs are related to his own situation of having bipolar syndrome but also dissociative identity disorder. He represents his different alter egos/personalities with characters: mito and mr. insanity are two of them plus Ian himself. His EP titles Moodswings in to order and Moodswings in this order refer to the different moods he has gone through. This song (don't go insane) is part of a series of the album Dear Insanity in which he shows the switch between mito and mr.insanity. All of his mvs are related as they are part of his storyline so really recommend checking it all if you guys can/want to know more about him and discover more songs like this masterpiece.

DPRIAN is such an amazing, talented artist and such a nice guy. Still completely underrated, all his videos are crazy little movies. Maybe next his new song “Saint” or an older one “No Blueberries”. Or an other one, it doesn’t matter because a bad DPRIAN song doesn’t exist. I forgot something important: you should really take a minute to check out his background story to understand his incredible work. And there is a storyline in the MV’s.

Ian is very vocal about his struggles with Bipolar disorder and DID and how music was his therapy/outlet to help him deal with it, it's really hard to explain the whole lore and story between his alters in his music but it's so awesome!

Definitely recommend Zach Sang Show interview of DPR IAN, where he explains his producing process. i think you guys, as musicians, would appreciate it a lot.

He is a very interesting and very loved guy. He stretches so far across genres and is amazing.

He's a fascinating person/artist to dive into. He has Dissociative Identity Disorder with two alter egos that show up/take-over as he goes through the writing/producing process that have very different personalities and musical tastes, so his sound takes different directions depending on who is present. He writes, produces, and directs all his own stuff and has his own successful Label.

I believe his mv for "So I Danced" follows directly after this one in the storyline so maybe I'd check that one out next. But truly all of his songs/videos are incredible so theres really no wrong choice.

DPR, especially DPR Ian has had my heart from when I first started discovering Korean artists several years ago. I really don't get R&B from his style, certainly not enough for it to be a main label. Even from songs a few years ago he's always had more of a new wave pop sound. I'm an 80's baby and that sound is a big draw for me which is why I love his music so much. He really has never made a bad song. You could listen to a playlist of his entire discography (I regularly do), and have no desire to skip. He's an artist that not only makes great sounding music, but you also feel the thoughtfulness, creativity, and sincerity behind it. I don't think he needs to be more popular (he is already quite), but I'm always shocked he's not more popular. You might be familiar with his song Nerves. I swear I heard it a lot on the radio here in the states, and never knew who it was.

DPR IAN and JACKSON WANG are two talended men... both very unique, with their own world...

I can see people saying to do So I Danced next because the video is "next" in the story line. I'll just point out that Ian himself released the videos in reverse order of story timeline so I'd suggest you watch them in the order things were released. That way it's like you're going back in time but each successive video uncovers another layer to the story. If you do them in the reverse order like people suggest it does mean the story is going forward in time, but you miss the impact of making the connections between the different elements. I recommend doing the Mito Movie (a short sample of several songs from his second album with a cinematic story line) then go into the Dear Insanity album videos with Peanut Butter & Tears, So I Danced, Don't Go Insane Teaser video (not music, but it's important to connect the storyline) Don't Go Insane (the one you just watched), Limbo, and then his newest video Saint.

you should check his MITO MOVIE, is like a recompilation or sneak peaks of some songs on his MIITO album, as always he produced and wrote the songs and directed and edited the video, really cool stuff

Exactly, he is also studied drumm at an Art high in Australia. And he was a famous B-Boying dancer. He basically is an all-in-one type of artist. He sings, dances, writes and produces all his music. But also directs and edits all his and DPR music videos. He even directed/edited for other artists like Taeyang, Mino, Bobby or IU.

I always recommend watching all the videos in the chronological order to get a better understanding of the storytelling. From the miito album my favorite is so I danced. I think you could put limbo->don't go insane->so I danced teaser->so I danced

So I Danced MV is after this one. It's one of my favorite and LIMBO is before this one. His music videos are all like movies. He just recently released Saint. There is a whole lore behind it but basically all of it is inspired by his disorders. He is interpreting his Bipolar disorder and D.I.D into characters in his music videos and songs to try to explain what he goes through.

I feel like dpr ian has his own gener of music i can't really put him in one specific category this man is way too creative to stick to one gener so he has such an amazing diverse discography that u should definitly give it a listen .the production is always top tier & as you mentioned his unique vocals which i love so much makes everything even better don't even get me started on how much of a visual genious he is im pretty sure everyone can notice that by watching his videos so yeah to sum it up this guy is a true multi talented artist that u should definitly do a deep dive for believe me u won't regret it 😊

So happy you checked out my favorite guy IAN! He's one of the most brilliant, complex, and dynamic individuals and artists I've ever come across in my life. You definitely won't regret diving into IAN's discography, and I hope you also dive into his interviews and recorded past livestreams on RU-vid. He goes in depth about his struggles with DID and Bipolar, his inspiration for his music and visual concepts, explains his other "personality's (aka MITO, Mr. INSANITY, HYBRID)", what they look like, and where you can actually see them in the music videos. He's just an all-around musical genius and an exceptionally kind, funny, down to earth, humble human being. I'm so blessed I'm going to see him live in Atlanta in September 🥰. I hope everyone goes out and buys tickets to see him because this man truly deserves more recognition!

I'd recommend No Bluevideos. Amd So Beautiful by DPR IAN. They're amazing and dark and cinematic like all his vudeos.

Definitely check out LIMBO - I think it's my favorite MV from him and its a precursor to this one. His artistry and imagination is intense and I love how well he expresses himself through his music and visuals. Overall, I'd say DPR Ian is his own genre honestly!
