I "discovered" this band in 2020, and after 3 songs I bought tickets to the first show near me. Been a fan ever since, will be seeing them for a 3rd time in a couple of days. They are absolute superstars, and I think Tatiana could damn near do anything she put her mind to. She reminds me of Hedy Lamarr, an actress from the golden age of filmaking who was extremely intelligent, she came up with the idea of "frequency hopping" which became the building block of the cell phone etc...
Awesome reaction as always! Jinjer plays in drop A tuning, but their first two albums were in drop C tuning. They switched to drop A when they lost the second guitar player.
FYI, Jinjer’s symbol (on the wall) is a gear wheel surrounding the business end of a coal mining drill bit. The band said this when they chose it: “Comrades, we are happy to announce a new JINJER logo. Apart from a genuine band title logo we have decided to accept as one of our symbols - an element taken from the coat of arms of our native town Gorlovka, namely a gearwheel with a drill inside. Thus we would like to give a tribute to our roots and show that the place where we were born and grew up has left a remarkable trace on our music.”
There would be more views on this MV, but the Tatiana vocal one take video that has 9.1 M views. Chris did do a solo reaction to that one take a few months ago, show it to Sam later.
What I love about her performance in this is that it wasn't super serious and "evil". She was grinning, laughing, having fun... this is what that character _loves,_ her moment of joy, and Tatiana not only grasped that, but let it dominate most of the performance, which made it all the more creepy and believable!
Jinjer does use backing tracks to keep the full sound. They were once a five-piece, so when playing their older songs, they have to use tracks anyway, and once you have that set up, you may as well use them on the new stuff too. At least, that's how I imagine their reasoning.
Hello. I like your reacts because your clear and with your background you are able to say interesting things. I think you've put the finger on why I generaly don't like so much "high pitched screams", but like Tati's ones. Most time more it's high, less we hear the distortion and more it's "smooth". But her high is still lot distorded and crispy. (sry if my English is not perfect, not my native tongue.
In the studio version, the guitars are multitracked. This is clearest in the 'reggae' parts where the off-beat 'chink' sounding chords are one track and the widdly bit is another track - it allows some textural contrast and very clear articulation of the two parts. When they do the song live, Roman combines the tracks into a single part.
