The song continues to to be a crowd favorite at their shows. When they play this song live now, Pau and Ale have a synchronized head flip they do at one point. Ale and Dany have a synchorniced guitar wag at another point. This shows that they are so comfortable playing the song (to the point that they could do it in their sleep) they just want to have fun interacting with each other during the performance of the song. On tour a couple of years ago, there were a couple of shows where the design of the venue permitted it and Dany went out into the audience (with an escort from the crew) where she jammed out with some of the fans crowd. IDK if she will be able to do that again now that they are drawing thousands of people to all of their shows.

Should still be able to do that. Papa Roach's singer still goes out in the audience once a show. Even going up on the sides.

At their show at the Metropolitan CDMX in 2022 the audience start singing almost immediately, Dany and Ale just stand there strumming lightly at their guitars while the crowd is screaming out the lyrics. This song is a real crowdpleaser and anthem like. Cool reaction from you two!

This song became the “anthem” for XXI Blood, just like “Dust to Dust” was on QOTMS! Ale goes bass heavy instead of using her traditional keyboard intro at Teatro Metropolitan, though. Ale couldn’t play bass & keys in the outro, so keyboard was tracked. Edited for punctuation error

This song is one of my favorites that they've done. It's just so good and so well written. Everything is so perfect with this song: the back and forth lead vocals, Dany going absolutely nuts on the guitar at the end (which is awesome to see live), the audience participation that is almost mandatory when they play it, and Ale's little bass part at the end. And even more mind boggling is how young they were when they wrote this song.

Wow, can't believe this was a first time listen to Survive for you guys! This song hooked me hard, along with many others in the fandom. This was the closer for their shows for a long time. It is still played at their shows to this day. A few times now, Dany likes to leave the stage, and join the crowd as she dances and plays during the song. I was lucky enough to be there for one of those, AND record it unfold in right front of me. Guess you really need to see the 2017 Tedx Talk where this song really shines, and the multicams does each of them Justice.

The Foo Fighter cover is good but in my opinion the one of Dany covering FF Walk is the best FF cover. She has lots of acoustic stuff that many reactors don't even know about. Everyone does Pau Creep which is great and all but Dany is more than worth a listen.
@maximusaurelius9906
@maximusaurelius9906 7 месяцев назад
Most of Dany's covers appear to be from her Instagram live and posted on RU-vid. It would be great if she, they or some fan made grabbed all of them a put them on a RU-vid channel. That would make it easier for reactors to get to and go through. Might have to do some editing as she'll go through several songs in one post.

Count me as one of the old rockers whose gateway drug to The Warning was their performance of this song at their 2017 TedX talk (go watch that one on your own. much better camera coverage to see all the changes Pau makes). The outro is one of my favorite bits of music in the past years. Just makes me smile. Yeah, their vocals almost give them a fourth instrument on stage. Close your eyes and hear their voices as a keyboard to add a bit more thickness to their sound. And the tightness of the voices due to genetic is so tasty. OK, if you really want to see them jam and dance, Check out the footage from their show in 2022 Houston. During the outro, Dany brought their opening band (Hero the Band) up on stage to join them dancing around. It gives you an idea of the energy in the room during the song. I love how infectious that energy is. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-juMOlxRK4rs.html

When you mentioned about wanting to see the crowd and it being “dancy”, there are videos of their live performances where Dany actually goes out into the crowd during the solo at the end and there’s exactly that kind of experience you’re wanting to see. I more during their Mayday Tour but some in the Error tour. These would be for their smaller indoor venues, of course. Some other TWA members may know a specific one to find but it shouldn’t be too difficult.

Love this song, first heard it when they played it as their last track on a TedX performance. On another version, that sound (like picking) you heard in the background sounds very much like individual notes on a keyboard, a piano sound like the one Ale used to open the song with, going down the scale and back up again about every 2nd beat. Very simple, but so effective in the overall mix - very cool. 👍

It's amazing you still had not heard Survive to this point. It's definitely one of the fan favorites and you can see why. The Outro is an incredible piece of song writing and one of those moments the fans wait for at every show. Over the years, at smaller shows where the stage set up made it possible, Dany has even gone down INTO the crowd while playing the outro and danced around with fans. There are videos that can be found of a few of those moments. Glad you finally got to hear this one. Still amazing this was written by young teenagers.

A lot of people get this wrong, and wonder why this break up song is so upbeat. Nah, listen again. The song is called Survive, not I’m hear broken and I’m going to crawl underneath a rock and die. It’s an epiphany! A realization, that the protagonist has had that she doesn’t need the deadbeat liar around any more. Survive is about freedom and independence, and the upset chorus reflects that. Now, there is a touch of sadness in the verses, but the chorus is a joyous revelation.

Its funny that you guys came late to this song and it still stands out as one of their best! That ending layer-cake of a breakdown is just rock perfection, and the additional guitar really makes it. Their skill in layering and knowing how to transition between parts I think personally is unmatched. They take the simplest things and with amazing lyrics weave it into something like this where the additional guitar is such a natural and necessary groove. This song is how I feel when I'm just shredding alone, though obvs. it doesn't actually sound this good. It feels just like this tho.

It dawned on me the other day that I don't think they ever faced a tough audience. A time where the audience just wanted to see the headliner, and didn’t want them taking up their time. If you watch their concert at their elementary school, their classmates are singing along to their originals. Pau even tells a story about a time when they were playing some sort of festival. They played at about 9 a.m. and in front of 3000 people. Hours after they finished, she went back and the crowd had vanished and the following bands were playing to an empty field. Everyone had shown up for The Warning.

Russ, I think the fact that they are a three-piece, all female band, intrigues everyone that doesn’t know them. I was watching this show from Pittsburgh the other day. They are opening for The Pretty Reckless. Watch the crowd reaction after every song. It builds, and builds, and builds until the end of the show where they’ve got the audience wrapped around their fingers. the first time i heard *Survive* was watching their 2017 TEDx video... they played 3 songs there and spoke to the audience between each song... *Survive* was their closer and that jam session at the end was a wildfire to watch... actually, you should watch both of their TEDx sessions, 2016 and 2017, if you haven't seen them yet... each one is maybe 30 minutes long with 3 songs and DPA/TW speaking between the songs... what they talk about is enlightening and very informative... *Survive* is off their 2017 album "XXI Century Blood"... it is obviously about a relationship going/gone bad... some think of a boy/girl relationship but it could be about any relationship... especially a relationship where partyA is telling partyB that partyB won't make it without partyA in their lives... to me, this sounds very much like it was inspired from the failed negotiations with those labels "that wanted to change them for the wrong reasons"... i can see those label people trying to get them to sign by trying to scare them with words like that... the album's title song has a OMV that really tells a story... it, too, is a must see... it was nominated for a few awards and won several of them 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

in the outro, i think you are talking about the keyboard playing its melody... i can't tell if it is a track or if Pau's computer triggered it on the keyboard in the corner via midi... when they don't have a keyboard with them, it is definitely a track that is fired from the computer along with the click... at this point in time, Dany's peddle board setups were also able to be fed from the computer... later when Dany switches from the Line 6 Helix she is using here, the computer is no longer used for several reasons... at their shows where they had screens behind them (eg: Lunario for QOTMS), the computer also fed them... that's also not needed to be done from Pau's computer beside her any more... If you're looking for some more The Warning performances, how about this short set from a SiriusXM radio show. You can tell the band has been on the road and probably had to get up pretty early for this show (please correct me if I'm wrong), but they were still awesome as usual. This performances also give you a good idea of just how much they amp up the performance aspect for their love shows, as in this set you can see how chill and relaxed they can be. Although Dany always seems like she's about burst with fruit flavor, as if she has to restrain herself. If you haven't seen the official videos for these songs, check them out first before watching this set. This is perhaps the best live vocal of Martirio that I've ever seen. The end of the song is extremely challenging to pull off. There is a reason Ale switched to Spector. These shows before she switched, her instrument is easily drowned out.

I could have sworn y'all reacted to their TedX 2017 presentation! They closed their talk with Survive like absolute legends. I guess it would be the youngest you've seen Ale yet?

I think they’re not there in the light yet. It may be because people have moved on to other genres. This band may bring them back !
