synchronised line firing of the musket
To show off your very own musket we suggest the KR Ideas wall mount, made in the USA and available on Amazon

To learn more about the Flintlock musket, its history and origins we recommend Torsten Lenk's classic study of the flintlock which has been acclaimed for decades as the essential book on the subject.

It's amazing how today all this firepower can be done by a single machine gun!

The advantage here, if a machine gunner was within their range, they’d pick him apart from multiple positions. Any distance greater than 25 meters and conventional rifles/machine guns aren’t breathing a sweat

The sound of a flintlock musket / rifle really is great. That slight click milliseconds before the bang. Very unique.

It should be said that these are probably not full power powder charges, they are using modern gun powder *and* they aren't loading any balls which makes the whole affair much quieter than it would have been back then.

I saw another comment that you use blanks. So I have another question. Do you guys ever shoot the real deal? Or intend to in the near future? I'd love to see the actual thing working and get as much data as possible.
@dalevlog
@dalevlog 6 лет назад
very rarely do we go shoot at some targets with these things - as it deteriorates the musket. These things aren't rifled, so the ball rattles all along the barrel on its way out.
@leokim1458
@leokim1458 6 лет назад
Thanks for the reply! It'd surely be quite challenging. I've seen many videos of people shooting muskets. What I really want, however, is to understand the power and the actual effectiveness of the linear formation.

Not the best group to ask for live fire data. A lot of reenactors buy "display only" replicas and drill a touch hole vent to make them capable of firing. Depending on who made these wall-hangers, they might not be the best or safest thing to fire live charges from. Reproductions meant for shooting are available for purchase from respectable manufacturers like Pedersoli, and these can be shot indefinitely if given the proper care. "Ball rattle" should not affect any quality reproduction barrel actually meant for shooting. The 1137 steel barrels used on such modern reproductions are a lot stronger than the wrought iron barrels used in the old days.
@dalevlog
@dalevlog 6 лет назад
I would agree with you completely. Some companies that make the reproductions can be a bit shady and don't go through the same regularity checks that firearms dealers do

@@leokim1458 Well this is 3 years late... but I'm saving for a Charleville 1777 right now and will probably have it around the end of the year, which even supposing I'm not too late that's even longer to wait. BUUUT what I'm saying is when I get it I'd be happy to test stuff for you!

Like the recoil? It depends. Many re-enactors that I've met use only enough powder to get the "desired effect", that being a loud noise and copious amounts of smoke. I won't go as far as to make any specific statements as to how much they use, but when I shoot targets I use 70 grains of 2F black powder (F's designate the coarseness), whereas when hunting (particularly deer) I 110 grains of 2F.
