True, it is noisy. But, so were the bars, bordellos and riverboats where Jazz was born. And it is great to see someone playing a metal clarinet so well, Prez would have loved it.
This is a fantastic video. James Chirillo gives a masterful guitar performance, in fact a lesson on how to play guitar, . Scott Robinson's clarinet is interesting and as usual plays wonderfully. Bria Skonberg is a maestro. What a great performance. Just forget the audience noise, the music is great.
Love your videos, swingyoucats. Have you tried the stabilizer feature RU-vid offers in their editing suite? It should take that little bit of camera movement right out. cheers!
Thank you for your equanimity -- a characteristic not often displayed in these comments. Save your quarters and come to The Ear -- even better in person. Look for a grinning man with a video camera who is being transported into Joy. May your happiness increase, TS!
Looking/listening to this from New Zealand, the Ear Inn on a night like the one recorded here is one place I'd definitely love to visit. Incidentally, I can relax and play better to a noisy, goodtime crowd than to one which is staring intently!
Excellent ! - Bria Skonberg!...Europe is producing some great girl trumpeters. Scott Robinson is everywhere - and deservedly so - it would appear that where there is great jazz,. there is Scott Robinson !!.
Thanks for putting me straight guys and apologies to Bria. Current favourite European girl trumpeter has to be Andrea Motis from Catalonia ! Give her a listen if you're not yet familiar with her. She also plays alto sax, soprano sax and sings.
I know Andrea well thank you very much. She's for me not a better trumpet player than Bria. She's more flexible with her instruments, but not "better". This is my personal opinion. She is very clever, don't play to much in concerts.
A well documented video. I am listening to Scott and I am thinking boy that sounds like a clarinet but it's metal so it must be a soprano but no; the notes set me straight a metal clarinet. Scott is a collector of unusual instruments.
I understand, but see comments below. Bring your silent rapt admiration to the Ear rather than complaining about the conversations on the video: if it worked, we could patent it as a way of keeping people quiet, but it doesn't.
