AlhamdulilLah. And yet, they too likely received messengers of God/AlLah coming to them as all nations did.. they likely took what was taught and, as people have done, changed the teachings of the messengers to fit their own narratives.
There is no such thing as “the blessing of Islam”. If you believe in your religion, blessing only comes from one place: God, Allah, Dieu, YHWH, the God of Abraham.
@@monocle8868 Are you dumb bro? Paul, you are the very first Muslim I have ever heard telling us about this remarkable Viking Tradition - usually hidden by one and all including by Hollywood! Thank you. Kindest regards Basheer
I'm fascinated by you information gathering and reference finding. From photos to books to all sorts of other things you have on your channel. Wish I had that wisdom and know how
Shocking account - and Ibn Faldan has done justice by giving quite a bit of detail. This book was mentioned by Jonathan Brown in his favorite books video. I thought it would be more about travels but this has cultural details from which one could learn a lot. Not sure if I could read this part that you read, so glad I heard it. Watching stopped me from imagining the scene, as often happens when one reads.
@tubba-dg7toa Jewish women use to bring poisoned meat for the prophet and use to act like she had a lot of respect for him. Jewish people are killing all Muslim brothers in Palestine as well. Still we love and respect them anyways. What's your reference for the quote that you have written brother?
Amazing detailed description, facinating beyond my wildest dreams. I never knew, I actually imagined what was happening as I was listening. thank you brother Paul
Excellent video. Michael Crichton wrote a novel called Eaters of the Dead, which was then turned into a Hollywood movie The 13th Warrior, which depicts Ibn Fadlans accounts as he journeyed into Viking lands.
Wow... I don't know what to say bout that kind of burial ceremony, so extreme. Thank you so much for sharing this fascinating 1st hand testimony of Ibn Fadlan with us. I don't think I will ever had a chance to read the book but now I know the important part of it through you. Thank you again
You might be interested in sharing this book over a podcast with Neil Oliver who is a trained archaeologist. He's done some fascinating documentaries on the Vikings...
everytime I hear the story of ibn Fadlan I am reminded of that excellent novel, Eaters of the Dead, by Michael Cricthon, on which the movie the 13th warrior is based. Crichton basically used the scant record of ibn Fadlan as a basis to weave in a semi-historical, but grounded, retelling of the Bewoulf story. Excellent, really.
SubhanAllah! I've seen Viking burials before in movies and such but not with so much details. Got me emotional a bit with the slave girl being scarified 😢. Thanks again for sharing, alhamdulillah for Islam ❤️
I thought the same thing. In Hindu culture widows who are still alive would be cremated with their dead husbands. Currently this tradition is banned under superstition.
60% of kenyans are christians so their burial are according to christianity and mixed with some rituals but vikings are extreme never seen anywhere in kenya where dead are burnt.
Thanks Mr. Paul. Very informative. What's very sinister is that in all of this the Mayans, Egyptians and some Indian cultures practiced the death of the spouse as well. Not in the same manner as the vikings. But similar doctrine.
@tubba-dg7to Injustice is forbidden in Islam in all its forms. When someone worships others besides God (such as idols, money, their desires, etc.) or says that there is no Creator (with all the design we see in the universe...just take the DNA as an example), they commit the worst of all injustices because this injustice is directed at God. With this injustice, they deserve the worst punishment. But God has been fair to humans. He warned them and told them what will happen to them after death and encouraged them to make good decisions. It's their choice. They have the chance to pass the test of life, but if they decide to choose to fail, they can only blame themselves.
Ibn Fadlans travels has been one or the best accounts I've studied about the culture and practices pf the Russian, Vikings, Tatars, Turks, etc. It was somehwat pseudo re-enacted with a lot of drama, and changes to the real story in Hollywood's The 13th Warrior where a lot of Ibn Fadlan's accounts were adopted in the screenplay. You could see the the propaganda of Hollywood in Thirteenth Warrior about this. The movie had nothing of such grim and ugliness. All beauty and bravery as if Viking were Angels.

They are influenced by TV series like Vikings where heroic burials are depicted. Even the archeologists in the popular TV show Time Team do not talk about savage rites in detail.
@@MelancholischerMond They have a tendency to be very apologetic about the Vikings, often denying the typical brutish and savage imagination most people have of them as nothing more than medieval Catholic anti-Pagan propaganda. However, Ibn Fadlan's account seems to prove this, no matter how much they deny. This ritual is repugnant through and through and clearly it's an innate part of the savage religion of Norse Paganism.
@@matthewpaulson6497 Agree with you on a lot, but disagree heavily on Norway being a "Christian" country. It's an extremely liberal and secular mess that has no religion playing any part in its politics. It doesn't describe itself as a Christian country and with the glorified obsession with their Pagan past and liberalism, it's anything but that.
I doubt they think the human sacrifice or slavery are beautiful lol. Human sacrifice was relatively common practice in most societies at one point or another. Besides honor killings and killing apostates or pagans was a common practice in both christian and muslim societies, even some today.
Ibnu Fadlaan was an amazing writer and explorer his discoveries are awesome if you’re fluent in Arabic it’s like watching a movie how he wrote it and narrated in all his journals from Baghdad to Russia.

@bruce wayne Akhii, I’m not condoning their evilness. Rather, I’m pointing out that Allah Azawajal never created man inherently evil but peoples customs and environment make them behave in ungodly ways. Moreover, guidance is from Allah Azawajal as you well know so without His Guidance, man is lost as the Vikings and their like can attest to. And as always… Allah Azawajal Knows Best. Asalamu Alaykum.
That was not disturbing at all! Now a days that would be considered as a great movie with millions of viewers all over the world! All the thanks to Allah for Islam's bury traditions !
@@noob-kun7768 Well, there is no need to spread the name of such a movie, it is better to just remove the name and not let people know about such a thing!
Just want to add that around the same period elsewhere in the world , Hindu,s were doing a similar practice of Sati where the wife of the deceased , the widow would be burnt alive with the dead husband at his cremation. Muhammad pbuh gave women rights and stopped the Arabs who before the advent of Islam were burying their daughter's alive. The practice of Sati was stopped by the British when they colonised India.
"Muhammed gave women rights" That is an historical myth. One that is already evident from Mohammeds own life. Kadiyah was a trader and owner in her own right. It was not Mohammed who gave her those rights. It was her culture that gave her those rights. Real historical research will show that that "giving women rights" as a blanket statement is a myth. In fact muslim women's rights were not in all cases superior to the people around them. In some they were, in some they were not.
Thank you brother Paul for this beautiful and interesting video even i don't understand english well. I have also heard a interesting story of a muslim diplomat andalusian's visit to Danemark when muslims ruled iberic peninsula and have been attacked brutally by the vikings. Nice continuation. Enjoyed listening to that bro Paul. I've read this fascinating book, gave me shock and joy in equel measure. I've related the incredible accounts in the book to many of my friends/colleagues. The Viking washing ritual is also an eye opener...
if you watch the great film "13th Warrior" with Antonio Banderas, who is playing the part of Ibn Fadlan in the fictional storyline.... there are elements of the real writings of Ibn Fadlan in the scenes of the viking burial ( with old witch and slave girl etc). Also the Ibn Fadlan record of how the vikings washed their faces in a bowl and passed it around to their friends is shown in the film scene with Antonio Banderas dressed as a sophisticated Arabian ambassador looking on in disgust as the vikings pass the bowl to their friends😂😂😂

Thank you for sharing brother. Ibn Fadllan was commanded to go to today’s Russia and Scandinavia based on the request of help from muslims there , they wanted help to build fortresses protecting them from the attacks of Khazars .
Just wonder what inspired this kind of gory burial, it sounds that there are so many random rituals incorporated into it. Like everything that is "bad" seems to be included
In the ninth and tenth century AD, every house in Cordoba had a bathroom, and there were dozens of public bathrooms and its streets were lit at night with lanterns, and their children went to schools and universities, while they were in Europe floundering in the dark and wearing high-heeled slippers so as not to drown in the dirt that filled their streets
Very fascinating mr paul! Great narration and some funny commentary. The vikings way of life is interesting to me and listening to a real life story of a muslim being among them is just amazing. I wonder what the muslim guy was doing there though?
After your warning I delved with the motive: "No shame in science" then later was glad I watched this. I now appreciate how these rituals are no longer being carried out! Also my stomach is disturbed

Yes it is satita pratha in hinduism, 🤧 Burning Widows: The Basis of Sati in Hindu Religious Texts Agni Purana 222.223 The widow who practices self-control and austerities after the death of her husband, goes to heaven…the widow who burns herself on the same funeral pyre with her husband also goes to heaven. Parasara Smriti 4.32 If a woman follows her departed lord, by burning herself on the same funeral pyre, she will dwell in heaven for as many years as there are hairs on the human frame, - which reach the number of three crores (ten million) and a half. Vishnu Dharma Sutra 25.14 After the death of her husband, to preserve her chastity, or to ascend the pile after him. 🙁😪
A more than wonderful topic brother. Perhaps there were many historical records that were burnt and turned into obscurity after the Mongol occupation of Baghdad in 1258 AD, and the burning of the Grand Library of Baghdad with the books in it.
4:00 is it odd that this practice of sending the dead person off with “nice things” and one or more servant/companion was sacrificed alongside to serve in the afterlife. This practice is similar in ancient Egyptian, Mayan, and also Hindu as far as I know. Shaitan the cunning has a pattern of deviating insaan.
