I’m an Indonesian muslim living in Taipei. FYI, not all Indonesian restaurants are certified halal. Some even cannot guarrantee the ingredients that they use. They think as long as there is no pork, they claim their products are halal. So sad about this, so be carefull my muslim friends :)
0:15 0:25 Do they still keep "Chinese" in the logo, or have they changed the name to "the Taiwanese Muslim Association" already? Do Muslims in Taiwan think they are Chinese? Thx
Assalamu Alaikum I am a Bangladeshi. Muslim I am traveling to Tai Wan next month. please let me know so where else can I get halal hotel and halal food please pls let me know.
Kinda but most sellers are either Christian or Hindu or Atheists Indonesian selling non-halal food wearing tudung/hijab. Even in Indonesia, selling pork satay wearing hijab is normal. Sorry, you're right, but need more facts check.
Hi luke how are you I am from Indonesia, my advice if you review food from various countries, try to review the food of millennials (young people), for example if in Indonesia there are names of Cilok, Cireng, Sempol, Seblak etc. if you review that food I'm sure you're the first foreigner to review millennial young people's food in Indonesia, thank you
The Little Indonesia region and many of halal food are my favourite in Taipei, the food is mostly cooked with herbs or spices and I personally just love it even I'm a Taiwanese
Dennis Chu 1. Taiwan’s aboriginal population is Austronesian. The aboriginal people from Hawaii, the Philippines, New Zealand, Indonesia, and Madagascar are Austronesian people. The most adopted theory of the origin of Austronesian people is actually TAIWAN. At least check google or wiki. I don’t think Tsai would say Taiwanese aboriginals are from other places. 2. Tsai herself happens to be 1/4 aboriginal from her Paiwan grandmother. 3. Most people in Indonesia are Austronesian people. Indonesia is also the country with most Muslim population in the whole world. Also, there are about 275,000 Indonesian foreign workers in Taiwan in 2019. 10k Indonesian students studying in Taiwan. 4. Taiwan’s “local” Muslim population are mostly Chinese Muslims who came to Taiwan after 1949 with KMT. They are within the population of Chinese Mainlanders or Waisenren. The beef noodle shop is likely opened by someone with the background rather than Mainland Chinese who moved to Taiwan recently.
paksuman62 Because we have been confronting China for a long time, our government and people do not believe any words that China says. When China says everything is fine, we know that it must be shit
Happy to see there is no sorrow in Taiwan in April 2020. People can still having yummy food and fresh air. LuknSab, happy to see you in perfect condition. Many thanks for this kind of journalistic report on cuisine.
Thank you Luke for presenting HALAL food ( my food domain ) but there is one problem is you are too late to make me enjoy it through the day because now it is Ramadan month for muslims, i.e. fasting month...
This video is very helpful for Muslims to get halal restaurants. Especially now that Muslims are celebrating the month of Ramadan, very pleasant. Thank you very much for making a video like this. Lovely 💓
I really love it when travel vloggers explore different food cultures for people's dietary preferences, even if they don't follow them. Thank you! We appreciate it very much.
I had been to beijing last year n lot other tourist from Indonesia. Malysia.n white people olso rusia we are free walking anywhere..about hundred mosque in beijing states..we prayed there n we still alive today
Thank you so much for this video I always want to travel Taiwan but I was always afraid of lack of halal Taiwanese food after watching this video I want to visit
We're growninly reminded in this aspect these years as we have more an more Indonesian workers here, and Taiwanese tends to go PC right that we should accept multiculture and respect these Muslims by helping them feel at home, rather than be descriminating... Well that doesn't mean every Taiwanese are kind, but mostly we tried to be nice and open 😅
Tapi itu pake gugel translate per kata lalu disusunnya sesuai susunan kata bahasa inglis kayaknya. "beef dumpling" aja disitu diartiin "daging sapi pangsit". Harusnya mah pangsit daging sapi. Susunan kata Indonesia dan english kan berbeda 180 derajat. Katanya dibalik. Tpi gapapa lah. Secara garis besar msih bisa dimengerti. Tpi utk bbrp nama dish kyknya bakal terlihat aneh wkwk
Yup. Most of muslim indonesians tend to close their food shop/vendor when it's ramadhan. Beside it's for Ramadhan it is also of course not worthy to sell when there is less seller. Only few of these Indonesian Muslims that still open in the day. Some even 24 hour.
Hi Luke, thanks so much for posting this video - it is so helpful! As an avid muslim traveller, often it is a challenge to find halal food in non-muslim countries. Videos like this really make my life, and I'm sure many other muslim travellers' lives, so much easier. All the food looks absolutely delicious! As an Indonesian myself, I was unaware of how much Indonesia was represented in Taiwan.
for ten years I lived in Taiwan, I think the Indonesian restaurant around Taipei Station is not very interesting for me because for the taste is not so noted according to the original taste. because most of them only seek profits to sell Indonesian cuisine to migrant workers from Indonesia who miss food from their hometown. I will recommend you a delicious Indonesian restaurant in my opinion (SATE HOUSE ) in Daan distric, taipei. it's my only favorite Indonesian restaurant.
Hey, Luke and Sabrina. Thank you so much for this guide. This would definitely help me find Halal food in Taipei. Hopefully gonna get there soon. Be safe, and have great trips!
Hi Luke, I hope you are good and doing well. Your videos are keep us going in these lockdown days. Very refreshing and yummy videos. Lots of love from India. Thank you.
8:31 I would usually put the rice in the soup bowl instead. I'm that type of guy that like their rice 'banjir' (flooded), if you know what I mean. BTW, I'm not Indonesian.
Sepertinya kalian, sangat menyukai kuliner indonesia, sampai2 datang ke pulau formosa cari makanan indonseia, Salut buat kalian, Semoga Sukses menggapai cita2 kalian, Mantap 👍👍👍👍

When I miss Taiwan, it is often a food memory that triggers the feeling. I love and miss Taiwan cuisine. Sharing a meal makes people like each other or as the feel closer with strong bond. Eating the same food leads to trust and cooperation because they feel closer with the feeling of intimacy among those eating together, share the experience with eating and drinking. Get away Corona Virus, I miss friends and family…
It's not something new when you eat a dish that contains carb and then you got a rice beside of it. That's Indonesia's thing, Carb + Carb = Full Belly 😂. You are not "Eat" without Rice even thought there's a carb on your dish Anyway, nice content. Keep it up! Please, make it more Halal food tour. It will be helpful for me and the moeslim traveler who wants to get a Halal Food when Travel abroad. Break a Leg! 👍👍👍
The Indonesian restaurants near Taipei Train Station do not serve HALAL food and they are a little expensive too. The fried chicken store in Gongguan has delicious food, and there are three more stalls of HALAL food, one Turkish and two Pakistani food stalls in the same night market. There is another HALAL food store 15 minutes walk from the fried chicken store on tingzhou road.
Thank you Luke Martin for the insight of the Halal Food in Taipei! Youre indeed unique and insightful to share hidden gems in every city you visited. Well done and I will add my Taipei to my next list of city since it is also have Halal & yummy food! May God Bless You, Pal.
I go to a New Kahala where I live in Carbondale, Illinois which is in the deep south near Kentucky. It is a typical Chinese takeout style place. Inexpensive and generous portions. However, the lady who owns it is from Taiwan and makes this dish which is excellent and comes with the pickled greens, they chop right through the bones and all.... "A Taiwanese classic; Slow cooked chicken quarter served over a bed of steamed rice, minced pork sauce, and a hard boiled brown egg"
Please visit ya guys, hopefully my place can inspire ideas that can be useful and be a blessing for everyone Silahkan berkunjung ya guys semoga ditempat saya bs memberikan inspirasi ide yg bs bermanfaat dan menjadi berkah buat semua orang
I think why they put Bahasa in the menu because Indonesia is the no 4 biggest population in the world and no 1 Muslim population in the world. I think.
