FUN FACT: Malcolm X disavowed many of his more black nationalist views after his Hajj trip in 1965, where he saw Muslims of different races worshiping Allah with no discord.

The rise of Christianity and the rise of Islam kind of mirror each other in many ways. -Both religions became popular with the oppressed of society (women, slaves, prisoners). -Both religions were persecuted when they first arose and were horribly mistreated in captivity causing multiple martyrs. -Both of the founders were deeply religious in their faith. -Ali is kind of like Peter (not in the sense of being hand selected by the founder) in the way that they were the closest to the founder during the founder's life. -The Sunni-Shia split is kind of like the Gentile-Jewish split. -The Gentile- Jewish split happened at the first ecumenical council at Jerusalem in the 30s CE (a few tears after Christ died). -The main issue in the council was whether or not Christianity should stay a sect of Judaism or outwardly proselytize among to the Gentiles. -In the council there was a fierce debate between Peter and Simon (both in the proselytizer camp) whether or not the converted Gentiles should follow the dietary laws of Judaism outlined in Deutoronemy. - Peter's view of Gentiles being allowed to not follow the dietary laws won out in that debate.

Corrections *the sunni-shia split is very different than the Jewish law debate *the council happened at 50AD * It wasn't a debate about whether to proselytize to gentiles but whether gentiles had to keep the jewish law to be Christian, or even if Jews had to continue to keep the law. This debate continued throughout Christian history over how much of the law should be followed. The council agreed that the only laws gentiles must keep are not eating blood, no idolatry, no fornication, no eating strangled meat or meat sacrifed to other gods *The debate was between Peter/James and Paul/Barnabas *Paul won the debate after Peter had a vision

36:17 I think he is referring to Turkey here, where their state's founder Atatürk wanted a strict separation between state and religion which is why since the 80s headscarves are banned in all public buildings and schools there. It seems to be a hot topic at the moment as Erdogan wants to overturn that law but many who oppose him and think he has become too conservative with age see it as a betrayal of the founding father and the ideals of their country.
@Radonatorr
@Radonatorr Год назад
Cogito is not wrong tho: in 20th century Turkey and Iran, during Ataturk's and Reza Shah's reign respectively, veils and headcoverings for women were officialy banned, especially in state institutions and public places. Also, regarding the succession after Muhammad and beginnings of the Sunni-Shia split (it's going to be a text wall but bear with me): there are some historians who say that one of the original fault lines was the difference in early Muslim society between the North Arabian nomadic Beduin tradition and South Arabian sedentary tradition of Himyarite Yemen. In Beduin tradition clan councils had the ultimate authority and chose clan leaders, so power was elected, while in great cities of the south tradition dictated hereditaty rule passed through the bloodline, as they have been monarchies for hundreds of years. Yemen, much more populous than northern Arabia, was conquered by Muslims around 930, so 2 years before the prophet's death. Muhammad rebelled against so many traditional aspects of Meccan society that it wasn't really obvious if the power of clan councils would be kept intact and he indeed never directly stated who should become his successor so there was a vaccume and uncertainty of sorts. After Yemen's conquest the northern and southern traditions were likely competing with each other and after the death of Islam's prophet those who subscribed to the southern Yemenite tradition saw Ali and his children as obvious successors (inheritance through bloodline), becoming the foundation of "the Party of Ali". Beduin clan leaders meanwhile obviously believed that succession should be decided by the council, as they have always done in the north (power through elections). Northern Beduin tradition won out and Rashidun caliphs would be decided by clan councils. But the southern Yemenite tradition would become fixed aspect of Shia political and later religious doctrine, in later centuries only strenghtened by the influence of Iranian monarchical tradition, as after the conquest of Sasanian Iran many Iranians joined the Shiites, seing in them political allies against caliphate's establishment

sorry to say this but never to harm animal's. is a bit ironic, since sheeps and cows are eaten during eid. ? pls correct me if I'm wrong. just trying to understand.

@MuslimMindsUS Год назад
Harming animals unnecessarily or purposefully torturing them is prohibited. According to the stipulations of Islam the animal that is being slaughtered must be: In a calm state Have the neck cut with a razor sharp blade as fast as possible Through the jugular vein The purpose must be for consumption or distribution of the meat to the poor -Rohaib
@sumitpatil870
@sumitpatil870 Год назад
slaughtering animals is harming them. taking a life is sinful isn't it. on top of that, earlier due to shortages of food i accept it might have been necessary at times. But a good Muslim in todays world doesn't need to slaughter animal's. they are rich as well that slaughter for the gain. Main point being is harming any animals is sinful? right? I'm trying to understand this. not getting it sorry for the trouble sir
@CannedFruit999
@CannedFruit999 Год назад
@@sumitpatil870The specific way that Muslims slaughter an animal is designed to limit the amount of suffering for an animal, it is very specific. If one sacrifices an animal in an improper way that caused pain to the animal, it is not accepted. Along with this, the food is used for feeding the poor and families, and other good causes, it is not used for wasteful causes.
@MuslimMindsUS
@MuslimMindsUS Год назад
Muslims believe that we have the right to eat certain animals as made permissible by God. It doesn’t matter if other food sources are available. We believe these animals are a blessing for mankind to use and benefit from. But they have rights in the sense where we cannot torture them or harm them. The only exception is obviously when we kill them to consume. However, this has many rules attached to it. So I’m any time or context is a Muslim kills and animal properly to consume it, this is never sinful. Just like how murder is wrong, but to defend yourself, at times it is permissible. -Rohaib
@sumitpatil870
@sumitpatil870 Год назад
@@MuslimMindsUS killing a unharming animal is not the same as murder or defending yourself. how is that the same. 😅 as the animal has no way to defend it's self. i wonder what god would think. Btw is it written down in Qur'an that it's permissible to eat animals?

In Islam, what happens to Christians and Jews when they die?
@MuslimMindsUS
@MuslimMindsUS Год назад
There isn’t a difference when you die if you’re Muslim or anything else. We will all be judged by Allah/God. It’s that simple, even Muslims can be punished. It’s all based on our actions and intentions. Hope this clarifies! Appreciate your comment and question! -Hamza

@@MuslimMindsUS So in Islam, a devout Jew or Christian who lives a good life and serves God would go to Heaven? How about an Atheist or Hindu who believes in no God or many gods respectively?
@MuslimMindsUS

Up to God to judge, Muslims have a more secure idea of salvation. But for those who don’t have a proper understanding or were sincere, have a chance of being saved if God decides -Rohaib
