I am just getting started in this adventure. Because I don't know what I am doing these videos are worth their weight in gold. Thank you.

Best accessories mentioned: Gloves and hand warmers. You won’t be out long in winter without them. For summer, wear cooling outerwear to cover any exposed skin and spray all your clothing with bug spray if, like me, hundreds of mosquitoes descend on you without relief as soon as it gets dark.

I live in Canada and we know cold. Typically the clearest winter nights are the coldest as well. Good list in general.

When doing flats, I just pointed the camera straight up, stretched a tshirt over the lens hood and then placed an ipad with a white screen ontop. Easy

Thanks for this and all of your other videos - especially the ones on Sharpcap. As one other fan has asked I 'd love to see the toys in the background if that's ok with you. I kept thinking about them while watching this video. They are huge!

Very helpful, very motivating and very „down to earth“ video, including the price tag to all of these must haves, well done! And the pictures ... geee, they striked me! Unfortunately fog really found the area of lake constance in the center of europe just as pretty as I do, so it has been sticking around for WEEKS 😡! First world problem, I know ...

I got a £20 dew heater and it's really made it so then I don't need to worry about condensation

Can't argue against any of your must have accessories, but depending where you live, I would think dew heaters are essential. Not all of us are lucky enough to live in texas. 😊

Brian Griffiths valid point, and I do use dew heaters where I am too. I think I was thinking about things not permanently attached to my scope. They’re so built into my setup, I don’t think of them as accessories anymore ;)

@@lazyastronomy3348 Yeah, I can understand that. I suppose the only other essential on a cold night at a dark site, is a flask of hot coffee. 😊

One of the most important aspects of a pair of gloves isn't necessary about the cold. I use gloves, but to handle the OTA, mounts and heavy duty hardware. They also have leather pads. This allows you to move the OTA or other sensitive gear with out the fear of it slipping out of your hands. They do double duty in keeping my hands a little warmer. Remember, it's the leather padding that enables a secure grip on the OTA, especially in the cold.

Thanks for the great advice! BTW, was trying to look at your out of focus cool Star Wars collection in the background. Any chance of some sharp footage next video? :)

Mark Bennett you mean my artistically blurred background? I just finished redoing my office room to display my Lego Star Wars sets and thought it would make a nice backdrop. I may stop down the camera next time to have things in focus more just for you!

Polemaster is a waste of money. In an era of platesolving, it's a bad suggestion. You can use Polar Align apps on your phone to get you very close without having to bend down, straining knees and necks. Quick Align your mount if you want to bypass aligning routines, and platesolve for accurate goto. Also Sharpcap has a Polar Align routine in it for hundreds of dollars cheaper.

Thank you for sharing. I had the chance to witness a rocket launch in 2018. Incredible experience. I posted a pretty fun montage of the trip to my page.

So I have some great data in Ha, SII, and OIII, all stacked in DSS. I would like to combine them in Pixinsight to make excellent Nebula photos. Could you make a video that starts at this point and then moves forward, really just the basics. Thank you.

Johnathan Edwards looking back at my videos, you’re right, I don’t think I have done a basics of narrowband video that wasn’t part of a bigger thing. I just finished a bunch of Crab Nebula narrowband, I’ll put one together on that step by step. In the meantime, check out my California Dreamin’ video, that at least discusses the steps, although I do breeze through it.

Polemaster is Nice to have. Not a must have. Especially for the price. The ipad just makes no sense. Don´t touch the lens pen! You are getting grease on it.
