I can relate. It's crazy how just changing to a modern controller changes the whole PS3 experience. I've been playing Sly Collection and God Of War Collection and its been a real treat using the Dualsense. Wingman is worth every penny of the $45 price!

Great review, thank you. Another thing I noticed is that without the wingman the triggers don't function as intended. What I mean by that is while playing racing games the R2 trigger when pushed down even the slightest bit will register as being pushed all of the way down. For this reason alone I have to buy one.
That depends on the ps3 game discs. I used a ps5 dualsense controller on my ps3 Slim console without the Brook Wingman XE2 adapter, and I played Skyrim and Call of Duty MW3 and the ps5 controller all buttons worked. The only button on the ps5 controller button that did not work was the ps button (home button). With the Brook Wingman XE2 adapter hooked up all functions and buttons worked on the ps5 dualsense controller with all ps3 game discs.
because Dualshock 3 controller R2 and L2 button is not level pressure button like Xbox 360 controllee, it is shaped like that, but essentially it is just a button that goes from 0 directly to 10 instead of 0,1,2,... until 10 like Dualshock 4 and Dualsense controller
@@UchihaDareNialActually, all the DualShock 3 controllers come with analogue trigger buttons for L2 and R2. They're not just buttons, they have pressure sensitivity capabilities like the other controllers you mentioned.

I’ve been trying to find used working Dualshock 3s for ages but they always have some kind of issue, stick drift, phantom button presses, overly sensitive triggers etc. It was becoming a nightmare until I heard about this little guy. Enjoy your never gonna wanna go back and why would you. I'm gonna pick up a PS5 contoller cyber monday or black friday this year. Right now im stuck with the PS3 contoller but im looking to pick up the adapter and DualSense.
My question is why ? While the PS5 controller is much more comfortable than the PS3 one, it also has horrific battery life. 4-5 hours at best so a much better option is the Retro Fighters Defender Bluetooth controller, which can be bought for the same price as this dongle. It doesn’t need any dongles to connect and features six axis, rumble, home button etc, it also has about 3 times the battery life. For me this is a much better option than having something sticking out your PS3.
You basically answered your own question with, "For me, this is much better." Having options is always nice, and it's all preference. You would rather use a Retro Fighters, but others would prefer using OEM accessories on their console, myself included. So, for those who really like the comfort and feel of a PS5 controller (which you agreed is much better), this is their best option for using one for their PS3.
Just in case someone comes across this like I did, I bought the Bluetooth defender and it's barely better than the Voyee PS3 controller I bought. Only thing it's got going for it is pressure sensitive buttons. The sticks don't have full range of motion, the shoulder buttons on mine are trash, the d pad and face buttons aren't so bad, and the triggers have a weird dead zone. Had I known about this product, I would have bought it instead and used it with the PS4 controller I already have.
Does this work for playing psp games on the ps3? I’m thinking it will. But when I pair blutooth controllers it says a controller isn’t recognized when launching ps2/psp games. I never had a ps3 before so I got one off eBay. Super slim. But my luck it was missing a hdd, its bracket and the generic controller they sent didn’t work at all. So I had to 3d print a bracket, using a spare hdd that I had from taking it out of my Xbox one. And using my dualshock 4. Which atm I got synced to my ps2 lol. So I’m trying to play catch up with the ps3. Edit: I got one and it’s amazing how easy it works. I was able to play pretty much everything with it, ps2 and psp games as well on the ps3. Playing ps3 with the dualsense is spectacular.

Wow, you just saved me the headache of having to hunt down an actual authentic ps3 controller which is a pain with all the fakes out there. This is the same price so Ill go with this instead

You're welcome! I'm not entirely sure how the Xbox controller compatibility works for PS5, but according to the description on the wingman, you can use this adapter for multiple systems, including the Nintendo Switch! Can't hurt to try it when you get it 👍
If I use this wingman device on my PS3 for my PS5 controller, will I be able to use the headphone jack in my controller to listen to the in-game audio from the PS3? Currently, I don't have a suitable solution for getting in-game audio through any of my headsets for the PS3. Makes me wish sometimes my TV had Bluetooth inside of it. That would ultimately solve my problem, tbh.
Do you know if this adapter works with gran turismo 5 or 6? I know those games have issues with controllers that dont have pressure sensitive buttons and I wanna know if this adapter lets me play gt6 with a ps4 or ps5 controller.
GT6 lets us remap accelerate / brake buttons to R2 / L2. That's how I completed this game even with DualSense connected directly to PS3 without any adapters
I didn't have the chance to connect 2 of these on the same PS3, but they should work for 2 players without an issue since they pair independently from one another.
The other problem with just using ya DualShock 4 or 5 on ps3 is that they don’t work on all games for some reason, so this bit of kit is priceless. My only question is what about games like mortal kombat, which is very timing specific??

I just ran into this. I play metal gear online 2 and the character stops moving when moving the analog fully. Wonder if this will fix that issue. Only reason I bumped into this product.
Question: To use the wingman on different devices (switch, ps3), once you have it on the ps3, do you simply plug back (nintendo, ps3) and forth the usb receiver on any device and the controller instantly works?
So when im using L2 and R2 and push them lightly it'll work right? usually when its connected to Bluetooth i try to use the triggers slighty, for like driving slow or whatever and i cant do that because it does it FULLY. so will L2 and R2 work perfectly with this usb dongle?
The PS3 DOES support the PS5 controller out of the box - however you will either need a USB cable or tinker with Bluetooth. No dongle required unless you need to go to the pause menu.
Correct. As I mentioned in the first minute of the video, I said that the PS5 and PS4 controller does work out of the box with PS3 via Bluetooth, but you won't get sixaxis support, rumble support, or homescreen button functionality if you just pair via Bluetooth. This converter enables those functions. I also found out that PS2 games and certain PS3 games will not recognize/function properly with the Dualsense either if played via Bluetooth but works perfectly when using the converter.

@@trumpameri1638 It really depends. I believe most games support it, such as Uncharted, or LittleBigPlanet 1,2,3. Did you connect to it using a microUSB cable/bluetooth?
I am planning to buy one so i can use a dual sense on my ps3 but i have a question, can i connect 2 dual sense controllers to the same wingman adapter? Another thing, can i switch on the ps3 whit the dual sense and the wingman like i do with the dual shock 3?

Sadly no. The reason is because the PS3 already have that functionality though its hardware. But for the Wingman to work the console needs to be already On. Also, it doesn't "wake up" the console while in Sleep mode.

Unfortunately, no. Once it's paired to either the PS5 or PS3 with Brook, it has to always be synced again. That's why I own multiple dualsense controllers and have one dedicated for PS3.
Im buying it so ill know soon enough, but whats the process of switching to 2nd controller after first one dies. This only happens to me during my super long sessions, but can I have two paired and when one dies I can turn the other on? Will I need to repair the sexond controller?
It will stay paired for the controller that is in use. If you want to use a second controller, you will have to alternate because 2 controllers can not be paired to the same converter.
i bought the wingman X2 and everything works fine with my PS5 controller on PS3 but it keeps saying my controller is empty even though is not. How can i fix that?
So will the movements be correct ect ?? Because in some games your character moves slower... so on this is without the dongle jw if the dongle fixes this
Check out my other video on my channel on the Wingman vs. Bluetooth. The only function you can't do is turn on the console. You can turn it off, though, and return to the homescreen/dashboard 👍
I recently got this thing but it doesn’t wanna work on my ps3. Once I pair a controller with it the controller disconnects after 3 seconds, even when I connect it wired to the wingman the buttons don’t work. Do you know if theres a fix to this ?
You may want to reach out to customer support on the Wingman or get a replacement cause it might just be a defective unit. Did you try other controllers?
@@compulsivegamer623 I used both of my ps3 controllers, a ps5 and a ps4 controller-none of them would work. And the thing is, the wingman works fine with my ps5 console using my ps3 controller.
The M-Classic? It's a decent upscaler. It actually works very well for PS3/360. Cleans up the jaggies a good amount and adds some additional color/contrast. I've switched it on and off numerous times and prefer it on. I can definitely tell the difference.
