Drug store alternative videos is really something I don't see many YT beauty gurus do anymore. They're too busy promoting each other brands and their PR packages.
Daija, I totally agree! As I would be considered a "mature" viewer, I have actually unsubscribed to the mature RU-vidrs who are constantly using $54 eye shadow palettes, $35 mascaras, $45 blush palettes (and I won't even get started on the expensive clothing hauls they do, lol). Some people live paycheck to paycheck and cannot afford that, and the drugstore brands are killing it now with their quality makeup and skincare products. Also, those same RU-vidrs get monetary gain when a viewer clicks on their links to these overpriced products. A couple years ago I splurged on a Chanel lipstick, and I truly think Maybelline Color Sensational cream lipstick is even better quality than the Chanel. Being mature, I cannot do matte lip color, so I like the cream version. And thanks to Emily for including products that are also appropriate for mature viewers! We watch too!! :)
I totally agree! I just love her so much. She is honest! That is hard to find anymore!!! She is just such a good person in every way!!! As a MOM, AS A BEAUTY YT, WIFE, CHRISTIAN AND SO MUCH MORE I AM SURE!!!! But I enjoy every video she makes so much!!!!! And will support her anytime!!!
Also to add - if no one has told you lately, you are KILLING the mom game. Your kids are so so so lucky to have a mom like you. A mom who is so loving. Caring. Motivated. You’re doing wonderful, Em.
It totally hit me what a great mom she was when I saw her instagram, with all the flower activities for Belle and Eve. Such a great idea and Emily is an amazing mom.
I’ve been eyeing that L’Oréal product for a while now. And I’d like to say, Emily, I’ve been working 12 hour days in for an “essential” company. I come home, grab a shower a little to eat and head to bed. I’ve been avoiding network tv b/c I just can’t right now and turn on RU-vid. Your channel has been an excellent distraction. Thank you, thank you!! I can imagine this time is more stressful being a mama to the littles. PS I would love a tutorial on your look today. It looks light and easy. Something I could really use right now.
Summer Rose thanks, Summer. Your men must be exhausted as well. I came back to add a note when I read your reply. How sweet of you to comment. I got today off so I did a little shopping. Sephora has a mini Bobbi Brown face base so I went ahead and bought it along with a couple other items. I think I’m going to do a comparison of the BB vs L’Oréal.
Your videos are keeping me sane right now! I’ve spent hours watching old videos too. Thank you, Emily. Much love to you and your family. I work in healthcare and our saying right now is “say your prayers and wash your hands!” ❤️
Brittany Brown Thank you Brittany for everything you’re doing to keep us safe. Take care of yourself and Family. We’ll get through this together. Virtual 🤗 hugs 🤗
I am LOVING my Hada Labo lotion in moist! got it from Yes style .com It's clear & almost runny but on damp skin t drops will do my entire face 2 more drops is my neck & decolletage & i'm good! I'm dry skinned, living in WY but I find this product works better than my Clinque moisture surge!! And was only $15 & will last forever! Give it a try! I also haven't always put a moisturizer on after & my skin is radiant!
Oh ya I’ve heard that! Forget until I saw your comment! I needed that reminder! ❤️ since HA attracts water, you’ve got to give it some water to attract to!
I ADORE Timeless serums! Yes... from Angie, of course! ;-) Some of The Ordinary serums are very good as well, and recently I started to really enjoy skin care products by Good Molecules (the Hyarulonic Acid is super, so is their Squalane Oil) from Beautylish: highly recommended!
Emily, ty for taking the time for us in a difficult time. I like the alternative product because ain't no way I can spend on the high side of makeup etc. I''m into skincare now more than makeup but like both. I'm in your Mom's generation and feel we seniors can pull off makeup rather well as some don't agree. I look at you tubers in their 20's/30's and think yep, you'll be me some day in the future. I'm not envious of them, I just know the road of age. Love you
As much as I love a full face of Full out glam makeup.. I’ve been leaving my face masks on just a bit longer, and giving my skin a break from foundation while I’m at home cooking, cleaning, and reorganizing my home! Just trying to make the best of this crazy world right now!
I just wanna let you know how AWESOME your video uploads have been. My baby girl is due any day now and you having time for life even with 3 makes me so ready to handle this 💗💜💗💜
Emily! I have what we’ll call “mature” skin and have always taken care of it with moisturizer. I tried the Elf Hydrating moisturizer that you recommended and I will NEVER use anything else. Thank you so very much! Have you ever thought of doing some tips and tricks for mature gals? Blessings to you and yours! Beverly
Australian Gold Botanical Tinted sunscreen is the only one I can wear! Works great under makeup for me too. I have combo skin. I bought mine at Ulta for about $16. It’s a zinc sunscreen.
I absolutely love this sunscreen and feel that it acts as a primer for foundation, smoothing over pores and Fine Lines. It can be drying so in the winter I use a heavy moisturizer with oils and let that soak in before I apply the sunscreen, but my face is combo to oily and don't need to do that in the summer.
I only use Korean or Japanese sunscreens. The formulations are way ahead of Western skin care. Even the mineral sunscreens leave no white cast and most absorb so nicely into the skin and work so well under makeup. Most also have skin nourishing ingredients in them also. Some of my favourites are Dear Klarirs Soft Airy Essence, Missha sunscreens, Cosrx Aloe and even more. They feel more like moisturizers than sunscreens. Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!
Great recommendations. I just bought the Rimmel Reloaded palette because of your mentions, BTW. And I got it for ZERO DOLLARS because I had a $10 reward at Walgreen's! Shut the front door! 😁😱
Watching your video on a Saturday morning while sipping coffee, brought a sense of normalcy during these crazy abnormal times. Thank you Emily. Love from 🇨🇦
@@Sashas-mom I don't know that he has a video only on that product, but Hyram (that's his name and YT handle) can't shut up about that sunscreen, he loves it so much!
I love the Ordinary so much. It’s totally transformed my skin at a very reasonable price. Tip, put your hyaluronic acid on a wet face. It will soak up all the moisture really quickly and also soak up the moisturiser you put on top of it.
I know you did one before, but could you PLEASEEEE do a updated video about makeup for “mature” skin with your mother? I’m supposed to do my moms makeup for a wedding in a few months and I’d love some tips or advice!
Thank you so much Emily🙃 I have been on a quest to lower my costs on skin care which is irrational in my view. To be honest, genetics has a huge role in how we age and our skin type. My mom passed a few months ago at 97- her skin was flawless soft and less lines than many 50 year olds . I know when she felt dry skin she used good olive oil. I am grateful I got her skin, but with this virus, I have realized what are the things that are really important to me. Love your chanel- you are real and have a lovely personality. Best of luck and stay safe with your lovely family🥰😘
I love that you have our financial backs! I live in a nursing home and get to keep only $62 each month, so my purchases must be frugal. You, my dear, are my favorite beauty guru!
Emily I bought the L’Oréal day cream and omg! I have the driest skin in the world and I put it on for the first time last night and my skin was glowing and I saw no trace of dry skin. I woke up this morning and holy guacamole my skin is still glowing and dry patches were gone! Thank you thank you thank you for sharing this video! Please if you could show more favorites that maybe people aren’t talking about that you love! I have learned over the years that I can always trust your advice and opinions! I have been watching your videos since your apartment days with the dark wood closet doors! Anyone else still here an OG subscriber? Lots of love going out to you and your family during this crazy time. Thank you for being my little escape from reality for just a little bit you will never know how much it means to me.
I love Cerave! My husband and I use the salicylic acid face wash and alternate with the hydrating face wash. You can use the SA face wash for preventing razor burn too anywhere you shave.
Emily you are the best! You always make these videos that are different from the same thing we watch over and over on RU-vid when it comes to beauty .. I enjoy these kind of videos!! I also loved your video on makeup tips you received from your RU-vid subscribers. You are amazing . Thank you for these video ..
The Cereve hydrating sunscreen 30 face, sheer tint, is really beautiful, and plays great under all my foundations. Works as a glowy primer, two for the price. Love it!!
This video was awesome Emily! I really appreciate a beauty guru giving great drugstore alternatives and not promoting sponsored high end makeup all the time. Especially since so many of us can’t afford the high end products but covet them all the same!!
Hey emily! I really enjoy your videos, such fresh ideas and not the same as everyone else all the time! You are one of my fav youtubers! I am especially loving your continued uploads to keep us occupied during this time! Starting my morning with you right now !
For an invisible sunscreen that sits well under makeup or by itself I tried the CVS brand clear zinc lotion and I like it. I also have super goop unseen sunscreen and I use then interchangeably. Biggest gripe is that it comes in a tub but for under $5 I'm not complaining. A little goes a long way too
Em, i’ve been binge watching your videos, and i’m loving your channel. You’re one of those beauty influencers that i TOTALLY root for! All the success u reverting is beyond well deserved!!!
Can’t wait to see the Instacart vlog with the yummy foods!!! 😃 What a fabulous idea! I may also do this 😁These are the videos we need! Affordable alternatives, especially right now - Emily, as always you bring the happy with your thoughtful video ideas and your kind, helpful personality 💖🤗
Loved this!! No one ever talks about the skin prep! And your skin is always, always, so glowy and beautiful!! I agree with Mary Alice about your mom skills!! Great job! ❤❤
Hey Emily, just want to say Thank you so much for taking the time and making the effort to keep putting up videos. It brightens my day to watch them - kinda like comfort food! I know it’s gotta be a challenge for you with your folks not being there and Bub working. I’ve watched you forever so seeing your shining face adds some normalcy to a tops-turvy time. So thanks again !
I know some people don't like Dr. Dray but she is the suscreen expert. There are lot of options for dry and oily skin. Chemical and physical even cruelty free sunscreen.
I am in love with the Australia Gold Mineral tinted sunscreen in SPF 50. It’s amazing under makeup while hydrating the face. My skin is fair and it’s not so tinted that it wouldn’t work for a lot of skin types. It’s amazing!
I so enjoyed this video! Great job!!!! I’m definitely going to try some of these. Thanks for being my calm, secure place when the anxiety of the world starts to weigh on me. I know you are that comforting place for so many of us, and we love you for it!! 😘❤️
Olay has an amazing drugstore sunscreen. There’s different varieties but it’s called Olay sun facial sunscreen with antioxidants. I use the shine control and it’s awesome
Thank you for taking the time to do these! I will be looking forward to trying some of these alternatives, especially as our budgets are changing. Continued blessings to you and your family. Love, hugs, and positive thoughts.🙏❤️🤗🍀
I use the EltaMD tinted sunblock and I love it. I don’t get mine at a drugstore, I get mine on Amazon. I’ve been using it for about 3 years now with no problems. I highly recommend. Thanks for these alternatives, they really do help the pocket book.🙏🏼
I so enjoy watching your videos. I am focusing on skincare during this "life break". I am moisturizing, toning and more. Makeup is becoming an every couple of days event where I am trying new things (and let's face it, a glittery eye certainly makes cleaning the kitchen alot more fun!) Thank you for continuing to brighten my days with your videos.
I use it as my make up, since it is tinted. Very, very waterproof, excellent if you exercise, it won’t run in your eyes, and is mate, a little. It on the dryer side.
My foundations dont look that great on top of it (using the appropriate amount). But I use natural to matte, med-full coverage foundations. I also get allergies from it when I start sweating/getting sun. AND its hell to remove. I have to wash my face so many times to get it off. I like the smell though. I bet some people will love it, just not me. Just fyi Ive had issues with every mineral sunscreen ive tried honestly.
Aveeno protect & hydrate spf 50 is wonderful, no white cast, no burning, soaks in quickly and leaves my skin moisturized. My dermatologist recommended it to my Mom and me. Walmart usually has it, target too. Thank you for your videos always but especially now, they get my mind off what's going on. Take care & stay safe.
My go-to sunscreen is the CeraVe Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion with Sunscreen. It's an SPF 30 and it absorbs wonderfully into the skin. I love it for makeup and no-makeup days.
Emily hope you and your family are safe, I appreciate a lot your videos...we all need to take care of each other and your videos are so good for us, kisses from Argentina
Thank you for talking about drugstore brands! I’m in Arizona and work outside. Eucerin Daily Protection Face Lotion SPF 30 for Sensitive Skin and Banana Boat Sport SPF 30 (in the orange tube) are my daily go-to’s for sunscreen. Neither are greasy or break me out.
Emily Thank you so much for this video. It is amazing!!! I really am grateful to hear you tell me so many skin care products I can buy without spending a ton as I would at Sephora. I really am excited to know what I can buy now for less. Thank You!!!!!
This was a totally helpful video. I love to pamper myself but I love spending money on my kiddos more than myself so finding drugstore options is a HUGE help. Thanks for all the awesome options! 💞💞
For SPF I 😍❤️❤️❤️ skin aqua . You can get it on Amazon and it wears amazingly under makeup. Then I adore Australian gold mineral tinted sunscreen for arms, hands , etc bc it’s so much thicker. Thank you Emily for all your hardwork bringing us all of these affordable options. I work in healthcare and with everything going on your videos help me to unwind. Love ya bunches!
I've been looking for the Hard Candy smoothing balm at my Walmart for the longest time. It really must be that good, because it's always gone! Great video!!! I love finding dupes for high end all day!!! Thank you, Emily 😊
I have oily skin and I absolutely love using the Vichy mineral 89 booster serum as a moisturizer for daytime it feels so nice putting it on and I feel like my makeup always looks better when I put it on before
Watching this in the future, but if anyone is looking for a drug store sunscreen I love the Olay Regenerist one! It’s in a slim red bottle with a pump. Slightly glowy and hydrating, no issues under makeup.
Hi Emily! What an awesome idea! This video was a long time in the making so thank you for all your effort! I'm looking forward to trying some of your suggestions since I'd never spend so much on a Bobbi Brown or CT moisturizer.
