Ohhh no no no. The whole purpose of wearing a money belt is to keep it on your body AT ALL TIMES, including on the aircraft. If you remove it and stick it in the seatback pocket in front of you, you're risking forgetting it at the end of your flight, as well as having someone reaching over and stealing it while you're sleeping. The rest of your suggestions are great but this one is a HUGE no-no. If it's uncomfortable to wear it because it presses into you, loosen the belt and push it up a little higher above where the seat belt sits. Or go into the bathroom and loose the strap enough so that you can wear it crossbody style under your T-shirt. But whatever you do, DO NOT remove your money belt! Dude, seriously.

As a regular flyer economy (especially economy plus) is OK, but a LOT depends on your neighbours! Flew the new Comfort Plus class last week with KLM and i LOVE IT A LOT!!! 8 seats wide instad of 10 and 4 seats deep instead of 5. BIgger seats end lotsa room for "only" a few hundred bucks. PLUS sky priority, plus prio labelled ckecked bags.

Puts the money belt in the seat back pocket… Me: NOOOooOO!😬 Just use a body bag and snap it around the arm/s of the tray table (after disinfecting everything you’re likely to touch, including tray table arms, of course). When you’re going to the loo, take your bag with you.

I don’t use a toothbrush and paste inflight because they keep saying the restroom water isn’t potable. So to brush your teeth you have to take bottled water with you to the restroom. On the plane I use Wisps (or equivalent brand)-tiny individual toothbrushes with a dab of paste built in. I always try for reusable things but this is one of the few disposable exceptions that’s worth it.

May I strongly suggest not putting your valuables (money belt) in the front pocket. This is super niche, but most accidents are during take-off and landing (and most people survive), and if you have to evacuate it will make a huge difference if you have your passport, cards, phone on your person. Also, anything in the front pocket can be forgotten, stolen or get dirty. But the rest are great tips.
@beverlyweber4122
@beverlyweber4122 10 дней назад
EXACTLY! I keep my necessary stuff like my passport and money on me, attached, so that if ANYTHING happens, I am not slowed down looking for things, nor am I ever going to be that person who prevents a safe evacuation by bringing their damned luggage with them on the slide!

Carry a resealable silicone sac to hold that money belt in before you put it in the back pocket to keep it clean. Permanently tape a ribbon to that sac and hang it over the edge of the seat pocket to remind you it's there.

Careful about putting your money belt in the seat pocket. First of all, that seat pocket is filthy. Ever seen it being sanitized? Think about what people put there. I put the items I want to have handy in a silicone bag and then placing it in the seat pocket. Easy to wipe off! Also, if you don’t know your seat mate, that money belt could be tempting. I hate to say that, but I actually found someone in my purse when I woke up during a long haul flight. I really enjoyed your tips! I already have the Airfly in my cart!

About the money bag - I would never put it in the seat pocket, but having one on you for the plane is a great idea. If you need to evacuate the plane in an emergency, your most important items are already on you (literally!) and you won't be tempted to grab bags or extra things. It's also helpful if you need to go to the bathroom, you don't have to worry about nosy neighbors going through your bag.

I take these with me on the flight: 1 - Therm-a-Rest lumbar travel pillow, I don't always need to use it but some seats don't have much lower back support. It's compact after all the air are out. 2 - Listerine pocketpaks fresh breath strips instead of brushing my teeth inflight, don't want to use their water to rinse. 3 - Neutrogena makeup remover wipes, I don't have makeup to remove but the wipe cleans my face without drying and it's individually wrapped, doesn't take up any room.

I take a small garbage bag or even like a Walmart bag and put it in the seat pocket it front of me. Several uses, if I get sick (rarely but it has happened), you can slip your things you need on the flight, like earphones, or iPad or whatever so it’s easy to reach and you don’t have to expose your items to the funky seat backs and finally I put my garbage from snacks, Kleenex etc into it and throw it away on my way out

Yes to all your suggestions (although the collapsible water bottle was a messy fail for me). The worst part of flying economy is the PAIN from being cramped. I take ibuprofen before every flight, do seat exercises, try to walk the aisles as much as possible, etc. with minimal relief. I truly feel for larger people (I'm 5'2" & 100 lbs) and wonder how they stand it! The airlines are shameless in their pursuit of profit over basic passenger comfort! P.S. I would never put my valuables in the seat pocket due to questionable bacteria plus theft risk. I wear a (no velcro) neck wallet tucked under my shirt/sweater and it is so comfortable that it stays on the whole flight.

I tried one of those collapsible water bottles, they're horrible. Yes, the fold up easily, But once you fill them up, they won't stand up on their own so they take up so much more table space by lying flat, you can't slip them into a side pocket of a bag while you have water still in them, etc. I literally threw mine away in the airport as useless ...

@@jaimetarne9436 There are different collapsible ones. The one shown , which is recommended, will not standup. If you don't have a way to hang it off a clip, you'll have to hold onto it in your hands, or empty it - it will not stand up like a regular bottle in a side pocket, leaving your hands free.

I prefer a thin silicon bag instead of a hard case for medication, so I can keep the tablets inside their sachets if I cut off a few tablets at a time. That way I can prove to security the name and dosage, I can check the expiry date before each trip and keep them sanitary. I also never travel without hydralite sachets, multivitamins or earplugs.

Flight complaints: #1 legroom, #2 using the lav is just awkward on a plane. Plusses: crossbody bag is great for keeping essentials convenient and for comfort. As for moneybelt, I like the pouch style that has belt loops and then just flips under your pants. No strap around you. Instead of collapsible bottles I prefer an insulated mug so my drink stays hot/cold a long time. A space sacrifice that's often worth it. You have good tips/hacks. Thanks!

Be mindful, when traveling internationally, about just putting over-the-counter medicine in a little pill case. Countries have different laws about what drugs are legal to bring in -- for example, Japan doesn't allow some decongestants you can get OTC in the U.S. Also, if any of them are prescription, it's very important to either keep it in the original prescription bottle with the label on it, or carry the prescription with you (if you don't want to carry a bunch of pill bottles, you could carefully remove the prescription label and stick it on a small ziploc bag, but if so, carry the prescription from the doctor). Even if it's just a minor thing, customs agents in your arriving country can use it as an excuse to pull you aside into an interview room and start going through everything, including your social media accounts on your phone (and trust me, this happens to foreigners coming into the U.S. as well as Americans going overseas).

Whether it's a 3 hour flight or a 16 hour flight, besides my over-ear NC headphones, I pack my flight essentials [cell phone, nasal spray, medications, lens case (with solution in it), eyeglasses, gum, tissues, Shout wipes, antibacterial wipes, hand sanitizer, face mask, eye mask, small hairbrush, etc.] into a sports fanny pack that I'll wear if airline is not strict, or put into my personal item if they are. Once at my seat, I strap it around the back of my tray table. It doesn't interfere with the operation of the tray table, everything is safely within reach and not falling onto floor, and there's no need to use the filthy, yucky seat pocket except for trash. And it won't be inadvertently left in the seat pocket as could happen with what you do with your money belt. BTW, on that topic... A money belt is supposed to be worn tucked into the waistband of your pants, not just sitting under your shirt and on top of your pants where it is still plainly visible and can easily be stolen.

I would add Imodium and Benadryl (or generic equivalents of each) to your medicine pack. Vomiting is bad enough, but you really don't want to be running to the toilet every 5 minutes, especially when there is likely to be a line. Also, you may not know of any allergies, but that doesn't mean you don't have any. Having something to help you if you need it can be a life saver, sometimes quite literally.

The absolute worst part of flying economy s the ever shrinking legroom. I am 6'2" with very, very long legs. Currently the only airline I can fly is JetBlue. Flying any US carrier is my biggest no go for flying. Last time I flew American cross Atlantic, the seats were so worn out, I was sore for 5 days after. NEVER EVER PUT Valuables in the seat pocket, keep them on you. They can disappear if you forget them. If you are changing planes, you can be screwed if you leave your valuables in the seat pocket. The inflatable tube pillows that you lean over and put your face in , let me get 6-7 hours of sleep on long haul flights. Many European and Asian airports don't make you take out liquids any more. At Singapore, Bangkok and Stockholm they didn't make me take out my laptop.

My flying pet peeves: people who take their shoes off. It’s disgusting. The airplane is NOT your home. Keep your friggin shoes on. Nobody wants to smell your stinky feet. Also…people who don’t know how to walk down the aisle with their bags and luggage. Carry it either directly in front of you or behind it, not to your side. Try pocket size Vaseline or Aquaphor; it is harmless for the nasal passages. Neosporan is a triple antibiotic, so in your nasal passages, which is a fast route to the bloodstream, your natural essential bacteria that protect you are neutralized. But the idea to coat them is good, just use something plainer. 13:12 😅

I would never put my valuables like my passport and money in the seat pocket! And then leave it there… Wow! Scary!

Trust me - first class is a joke anymore. You still pay a premium for pretty much NOTHING. The seat back on the last flight had me in tears after the first hour of a six hour flight. I asked the FA for a pillow and he told me pillows were only for international flights. The food was completely inedible and they gave me the wrong meal. (No, I had not complained about anything - as a matter of fact, I gave all the FA's a nice lambskin bag with tip money and quarters for laundry, which I will never do again.) The seats did not have a footrest and I think that added to my legs losing circulation and my back killing me. It was like sitting on a park bench. Oh, and the "first class" bathroom. Everyone from the back kept using it and it was filthy and disgusting. On a flight years ago in economy I couldn't get into the bathroom and asked the FA if I could use the first class one (I was well dressed), and she said NO it was only for "first class." So, at least on American Airlines, don't waste your money. The ONLY "benefit" we got was we got onboard first. Whoo hoo.

I consider traveling a luxury. I find happiness when being on a plane and going to another country. Most people in the world can't travel. Cost, visa requirements, etc. Having a US passport is sacred. I'm grateful even its economy.

Flying economy with a airline like Singapore is not an ordeal as they have great service and high standard. To fly Ryan Air or similar budget airline is not something I recommend. Make sure you got lounge access with Priority Pass or similar, it makes a great difference. As a Star Alliance Diamond member they tend to give me fringe benefits like fast lane, lounge access and higher luggage allowance even flying in economy class.

When are they going to create something to put next to the headrest to stop the stranger next to you from leaning on you when they sleep and breathing their stinky breath on you?
@Js20639
@Js20639 9 дней назад
On some headrest the sides will come out if you pull on them but not everyone is aware of this. They are always pushed back when the plane is reset before boarding.

I find the worse thing is not being able to get comfortable to sleep. I would love to be able to lay down. Sadly, being a mere peasant, that will never happen LOL. I just got some noise cancelling ear buds to try out on my flight to Europe in a few days. I tend to download things to watch on my iPad rather then use the entertainment system

Or you could just spend the extra money and upgrade your 💺 seats rather than having a bunch of junk. You still can book the economy flight ✈️ and just pay for the upgrade seats. Problem solved.

I will be flying to Asia from Washington, DC. Kill me now. I can't imagine you can take a bunch of pills & TSA anywhere saying, "Enjoy your Fentynol." 20+ hours😵‍💫🫨🥴😭I used to drink so much, time flew. They said, "No mo alcohol." I went up to where they were & somehow got more. Now I will try meditation for 30 hours. But, good tips. The eye cover, wipes, chap stick...

My biggest gripe with economy is the lack of back lean to the seats. You get an inch maybe if you are lucky which is more of a tease than a help. I always have a sore back by the end of the day.

Puts the money belt in the seat back pocket… Me: NOOOooOO!😬 Just use a body bag and snap it around the arm/s of the tray table (after disinfecting everything you’re likely to touch, including tray table arms, of course). When you’re going to the loo, take your bag with you.

Seat pockets are nasty. I always pack a ziplock bag inside another ziploc bag containing the things I know I'll want during the flight . I stick both bags inside the seat pocket. When the flight is over I pull out the inside bag and put it in my carry-on or personal item .I throw away the outside bag.
