Hey RU-vid Fam! Welcome to another video. This video is a guideline on what to buy when traveling to Ghana. These items I believe are essential to have with you before heading to Ghana. It can help and save you lots of spending money when you arrive. Being prepared is the best. I hate to not have these items with me. Keep in mind that you do have the option to purchase these items in Ghana when you arrive, but why not save the hectic, time and money and get it done before traveling. Check it out and be sure to watch the VIDEO TO THE END!!! Everything is important. When i'm getting close to traveling, I will do a checklist video to make sure I have everything and you are prepared as well. PLANNING IS KEY!!!!
Here are the links to a few essentials I purchased on online to ship to Ghana and add along to my suitcase. Keep in mind your suitcase can not be over 50lbs if not you will pay a penalty. Thats why I am shipping most items and it will arrive before I get there. Enjoy shopping 😃. @@newyorknewart you can send money different ways using Apps. I would not advice putting any money in a card. You can use (RIA, Moneygram, Western Union, Worldremit or wave) all are safe to use. As for shipping you can use DHL but very expensive. Using a license shipper to send things might be the safest and cheapest

I know its not always safe to travel with a whole lot of money in your pockets. Would you recommend putting some money in your wallet and the rest pack in a suitcase maybe hide it under your clothes? I’m currently saving up to go to Ghana possibly May 2022.

I’ve personally never put money in suitcases cuz they get lost or delayed at times. Sometimes custom search really deep and I don’t feel like explaining why I have this money. Just remember anything over $10k you must declare it. So if you know someone who can safely hold your money send it over before travel or leave it in your account there are plenty atms to withdraw money from many not a whole bunch at once but that’s an option as well

What tips would you give a single mama who is interested in going to Ghana. I have some connects but none that I feel are reliable. My biggest concern is going and not knowing anyone or having anyone to show me around. I don't want that to hold me back but it is the biggest reason I haven't made any real plans to travel.

Well I would suggest taking a visit to settle things out before officially moving with your child. Like school and child care etc. try and link up with the few people you know and mingle you will definitely meet new ppl all the time. Once u get one good person who can show you around and assist you in the beginning you will do fine.

It all depends on the shipper you use. check out your local African market and ask who ships to Ghana. find out if they deliver to you once the stuff arrive or you have to pick up. don't use any new shipper, use someone who has been in the business for long. its not always a smooth experience to be honest. when the stuff arrive to Ghana thats usually the small stress. delays and all but I can say its better this time around then years ago. start of with a small amount of things if you want to test the shipper first then you can send more. hope this helps

I only know a few in Kansas. You have to find some in your state. Check out the African markets they always know someone who ships. Prices will vary depending on what you sending. The shipper will be the best person to tell you

HOW SO YOU SHIP PERSONAL ITEMS LIKE THAT? WHAT SHIPPING SERVICE? I GOT THE IMPRESSION SHIPPNG IS A PROBLEM, SLOW, AND OFTEN "GREEDY FEES" AT THE PORT? YOU MENTIONED THAT IN A VIDEO BEFORE. IF I WANTED TO SHIP SUPPLIES TO SOMEONE, WHAT WOULD IT COST, BY WEIGHT AND SIZE? HOW IS DUTY FIGURED? WOULD RETAIL STUFF LIKE THAT BE STOLEN? I WOULD APPRECIATE WHATEVER INFO YOU CAN GIVE ME.

Well every agent and how they charge. Mines has a set price for barrels and boxes doesn’t matter the weight. If you don’t have a good shipper your stuff can easily be stolen. I’ve worked with mines for 2 years now and no issues. When the items arrive he calls me and I go pick it up at the warehouse. So I don’t go no where near the port. I pay all my fees here with him before the things are shipped

Yes, that is true but she clearly mentioned things to keep in mind if one plans to travel and is rather PARTICULAR. For example, she doesn't want to buy any 'ol type of gum lol but would much rather have the brand and type of gum she REALLY likes. As someone that lived abroad, these tips are helpful (in my opinion). Thanks!

You don't need to buy all this stuff from d US. They're far cheaper on JUMIA d West African online mart. Alternatively you can produce your own. Sanitizers are se easy to make. I wish I lived in Ghana to mentor you as to local possibilities. Things are far cheaper in Nigeria if you know where to look. Nigerians import directly from China. Chargers and electronics are a fraction of the US cost, here. My Samsung wall charger, for instance, cost $1.20, in Nigeria. Car chargers cost less. Toiletries are far cheaper here, too, as they're manufactured here.
