SHTF can come in different flavors from personal to the end of the world as we know it. The same is with civil unrest. It might be a full-blown civil war or a fight for ideologies. That is even more concerning regarding the fact that the anti-gun lobby becomes stronger and stronger and could do some real damage to free Americans using the power of the then still working state. For you, this means to act fast and to prepare yourself for whatever situation might arise in the not-so-distant future. To make this easier, there are 5 categories of guns that have to be covered.

I know plenty of people that carry a handgun in .380 ACP, including myself, for self-defense. It's a viable round with 2020's ammunition technology, like in Hornady's hollow points for example. Granted, it is low on the power scale, but it still delivers similar psychological feedback response to the assailant as a 9mm Luger could. Don't forget in American history: the Mafia of the 1920's and 1930's used the .32 ACP in pocket handguns until the .380 ACP cartridge was invented in the late 1930's, then they switched gears, making .32 ACP obsolete for pocket or subcompact carry. There had been issues with the .32 ACP cartridge even when it was in common use, as it didn't penetrate very thick/dense objects too well.

32 ACP as loaded in North American standards is underpowered. European standard 32 ACP packs the right punch! 380 ACP is 9mm Kurz or 9mm Short. Never underestimate this round!

Thank You for this video! This is, imho, possibly the *very best list* that's ever been posted by anyone on the Interbews for a list of mandatory SHTF firearms. Seriously -- Kudos & Job Well-Done on this list!! Much Love & Respect --- Directly from the rolling hills and fertile farmlands of Pennsylvania!! Domari Nolo PA III

Not a "high capacity", it's a "high count number capacity" for more firepower when it is needed most. The reason for the distinction is because most firearms today have standard capacity numbers between 10-20 rounds straight from the factories that build them, depending on what they are exactly and what caliber(s) they chamber.

0:33 I EDC a PDP, built my home defense around Glock's magazine compatibility. If/When a hurricane hits, my G19, EP9 and Dagger all share those mags I've placed around the house 2:52 Legally compliant 13.9" AR15 with suppressor. NOT something I'd ever want to fire in my home but train with it every week 5:08 Ruger's 10/22 Takedown, remains one of my favorite firearms and an EXCELLENT iron sights trainer 5:50 Hunting rifle, not my field of expertise. IMO, if civilization's collapsed then you want to stay light and mobile with a minimal noise profile - I'd sooner set fish traps than hunt large prey. Seriously, if it's SHTF then don't hunt large prey. They MUST have a steady supply of water. Stake out the water supply, you're good from there. 6:38 Shotgun... falls under the same category as the aforementioned hunting rifle. I don't like them for home defense, I sure as shit wouldn't use them in the field.

The .22 mag is the best round for SHTF/WW3 the reason is that the .22 mag is equally good for pistols/carbines or rifles and having tens of thousands of rounds will only take up the space of a shoe box and it is best not to have different calibers just one, the 9MM is very close second best as it can function equally in pistol/carbine. In a modern world/money collapse scenerio modern medicine will not be available and getting hit by anything may end up being a death sentence.

22 mags have gotten very expensive

@@patriciadubose5823 22's are still affordable but they are no longer in the realm of going thru a brick of them on the weekend anymore and 22 shorts are about a dime a round where I live. .25 ACP has gotten very expensive as well.

I watch Everything Blackpowder. he's just another 2a tuber, but one thing I've realized from the guy testing different DIY black/smokeless powder in diff pews...not all are the same. IF you're really talking something for SHTF, a consideration (among many)...how difficult is it to reload? Sure you can sand-mold lead bullets no prob. Lead is in every car/boat/rv battery. BUT how does the gun run w/o reloaded cartridges + cast Pb bullets + blackpowder or DIY smokeless?

The answer here is: bigger bullets = better. 45acp, 38spl, .357, 10mm, 44mag. The logic is fairly straightforward: --> bigger bullet = even with factory smokeless powder, low FPS/muzzle velocity -->Black powder = lower fps compared to smokeless. These cartridges have less 'gap' to bridge from their smokeless ballistics (IE 2400fps 9mm =prob impossible w/ black powder in 5-6in barrel). 800fps like w/ 45acp = doable. --> Revolvers ARE KING. arguably easier to clean, the cylinder-barrel gap = any accidents just gona 'cloud of smoke' you. You're not gona have to mess w/ slides n rails/etc getting gunked up with black powder residue. which is also somewhat corrosive

16in barrel is likely better for long guns the additional accuracy is not worth not being able to go through the door.
