I saw a Harbor Freight blast cabinet laying in a grassy field behind a guy's house, he still had all the parts for it, and gave it to me for $50. For a little bit of money I've made this AWESOME. My costs and parts list below. Parts list has Menards parts numbers, but if you don't have Menards in your area you can still look the part up on their site to see exactly what you need to build the metering valve.
Cabinet: $50
Dust collector: $120
Metering valve components and hose: $28
Dust collector baffle: $20
Dolly casters: $16
Gloves: $30
The dust collector (currently unavailable): www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08...
Parts for the metering valve:
hose barb 1/2 ID x 1/2 MI 6801850 ($2.99)
1-1/4 x 1 reducer washer 3655726 ($0.98)
1" chase nipple 365582 ($2.18)
1" Galvanized tee 6858748 ($2.79)
1" galvanized plug 6858777 ($1.29)
1 x 4" Galvanized nipple 6858117 ($2.29)
1" rigid threaded coupler 3656134 ($2.78)
1x2" galvanized nipple 6858094 ($1.39)
1x1/2 galvanized coupling 6855194 ($1.99)
1/2" ID x 10' vinyl tubing 6840455 ($8.59)
3/4" hole grommets 3642973 ($1.49)
Also needed will be some sort of small ball valve to tap into the metering valve to allow air mixing.

You found one of the awesome versions of these cabinets. I found one on Marketplace for $75 and I have been planning on upgrading it. Thank you for sharing the build information...

Nice! I think you inspired me to finally take mine out of the box and build it

Do exactly what I describe here and you won't regret it. It will work so good for you. Use good dry air too! I recommend and after cooler for your air compressor (I have a video on how I did mine as well).

@@TheScientistHayFarmer What's the deal with the dust collector, that just helps with visibility? Would a shop-vac do a similar job?
@TheScientistHayFarmer

Yes, it removes dust so you can see. Shop vac works just as well, just not as convenient.

Good video, thanks. Like oxfletch, mine is still in the box from maybe 5 yrs ago, but I got it on sale with a coupon and they couldn't get their computer to work correctly (try getting all those stars aligned sometime) for $120. new. Unfortunately I don't have enough floor space to set it up yet. I do have the smaller shelf mount type set up and useable but I need a larger garage/shop or some serious cleaning, or evict the truck or farm tractor. The trials and tribulations of more stuff in existing space. I will be useing some of your mods on both of mine. I also watched your air compressor cooling vid tonight. I have the same unit, different brand, I will be ordering parts for that next week. Thanks again, I already subscribed and will be watching the rest as I have time.

Awesome man. Welcome to the family. I make mostly hay farming videos but as I do a lot of car restorations, I occasionally slip in some restoration or tool-time type videos in. Sometimes I worry it’s too diverse of channel content and would like to have a restoration-focused channel, but I’ve spent so much work and time getting this channel established.

Hay farming is ok, my Father used to do around 8000 of the 40 lb squares each year, I got to handle a lot of them. He wouldn't let me run the equipment, I just carried and stacked. He just dropped them on the ground and we loaded them onto trucks or trailers for the trip home.

Hey , What compressor, cfm and pressure are you running it with aluminum oxide?
@TheScientistHayFarmer
@TheScientistHayFarmer Год назад
My compressor is 60 gallon, single stage, 13 CFM I believe, Pressure is around 90 PSI. The blast gun doesn’t require that much CFM, that’s just how much my compressor makes. As soon as I build the new shop the compressor gets bigger :) :) :)
