The science of it is well beyond me but my belief is if the fish was attracted by the color of the flasher it’s likely they will be also attracted by the color of that fly or meat rig. It doesn’t always work but it does often enough that I know it works.
Last year this time was lights out in Holland - Grand Haven. Not now? Sun AM was ok but same temp top to bottom. Fish way scattered. No bites less than 220 FOW. No marks below 50'. Now somebody claims best speed at ball with Fish Hawk was 3.0 to 3.3 mph? Do you ever go that fast for kings? Are spoons better than flasher/flies right now? Thought flashers draw them in?
Sorry for the delayed reply. I always like to have at least one big flasher out there to help bring them into the lures. Let's hope that fishing improves soon.
Hey Chris I had a quick question. Do you ever run the bigfoot 12" spindoctors with meat rigs? I purchased a few last year because I can no longer find the bechhold and sons 11" fish catcher. Tried finding something comparable because they were always my go to. I don't hear much talk about the larger spin doctors though.
