The mid-night pee bottle is brilliant. I literally went straight out to the garage and designated (with very obvious markings) a pee bottle of my own. I always have to pee in the middle of the night, without fail. So frustrating when it's cold AF, and never convenient. I'm stoked on that newfound info 😅
Throw an MRE somewhere in your bags. You won’t be tempted to eat it, and it’s there if you can’t use a flame. And if it has the heater, you still get a hot meal.
@10:35 is exactly my kind of gear. I hate leaving the tent at night, so a pee cup is the way to go! I use a small Nalgene (wide mouth of course)... I carry a whistle instead of a SPOT or other sat unit. Columbia makes a pair of camping clogs that have a nice, thick sole (for trekking into the wilderness to take of #2 business). My tablet is a rugged one (DMD T-865) that doubles as my navigation device. I load it with movies and podcasts. I always have ear-plugs to help me ignore "What was that?" noises at night.
No mention of being armed, especially when solo. I'm out alone quite frequently and would rather carry a weapon than something to entertain or distract me. Helps me get a better night's sleep.
Great video. Thanks for some really good advice/recommendations. Hoping to get out once or twice this month here in Oregon. I am on a small 250 dual sport so need to pack light but I know it can be done. Cheers!
Cool video. How come you carry wood around when you have the gas option? Do you just cary small branches for the firebox or full on firewood for the pit?
So for the firebox you just need little tiny bits of wood so that's easy. I've also been using grill pellets for the firebox and that works really well.. Sometimes I will carry firewood for campfire because you can't really harvest any wood at lots of the campgrounds in California and I dodn't like riding back out to a store or something. However, that's what I do now if it's not too far. If I can't get any close by I just go without a fire.. Which is a bummer but oh well..
Hey, just found ya and enjoyed this video! You won't regret switching to a good quality quilt as I'm a side and stomach sleeper and have done years of backpacking before switching to bikepacking. Just bookmarked one of those cots on Amazon as I'm doing some long trips too. Fixing to spend about a month on the road thru Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and Utah.
Awesome video. Good info. Check out whatever sleeping set up 'Dork In The Road' uses. He is a side sleeper and pretty good sized guy. His set up is top notch
Just found your channel. Hope the Thermacell works out. I’ve nearly bought one several times, but just haven’t seen enough campers recommend it to convince myself it works. I live in Eureka Springs Arkansas, where the mosquitoes may steal your bike in the summer.
Haha! I got that thing like 12 years ago for some weird reason.. It has actually held up pretty decently.. But. it's time for an upgrade.. Thanks for weatching!
I've watched waaay too many of these, but this one has to has to be the best one yet👌 good stuff. Thanks for sharing! (Oohh I can relate to that black tape bottle 😂)
camping in the East .. no need for a spot, camping in the west.. you really NEED one.. people on the east coast can't comprehend how remote it can get in the west
I haven't due to having to carry too much stuff.. However, I'm trying out my new Zen bivy light bed tomorrow on a trip.. So far it seems amazing.. I'll do some video about it i'm sure
As a side sleeper. I SWEAR by the Big Agnus Deluxe Core mattress. I'm a thicker gal, ( ex athlete ) with some extra insulation currently ) so about 180 lbs, lil bulldog..and this mattress is AMAZING. I got the wider one, can't handle those skinny ones. Amd even on top of the camp,cot.. wow... mine came with a air bag to blow it up.. so no moisture from mouth...and it's got stuffing in it plus the air..just a thought for you, and I use on ground and or on a cot, both ways amazeballs...
That sounds great ! I’m using the zen bivy bed now and I might upgrade to a bigger mattress for that set up. I live the quilt! It’s so comfy. Thanks so much !!
Sure, and those older joint pains at my age, is a killer, so maybe call moto camp need, he might hook you up to review it and get one for free.. well worth it... and I'm dying to use a quilt style too.. keep up the great work.. love it
@@milestogomoto I also can’t sleep on my back, but for some reason I had the best sleep of my life in my Eno hammock. Not sure if you would have the same experience, but might wanna try. It’s as though you’re back in the womb lol. Like your vid 👍
I really like your ideas on organizing and it has given me some new ideas, thank you. It'd be great if you could include the names of products to make it ezr for some of us
Thanks so much. Yah I need to put a list of everything in the comments. I’ve switched out some stuff and am probably due for a new updated video. Thank you!
