Very good tips. I never thought about the simple add ons you did with the anti slip pads and the remove before flight tags. 👍👍

LOL, the center bunk is a great idea. I have not fallen yet but I can see it happening to me or my wife in the future.

Thanks for watching. Yes, it is a deep rabbit hole when you start looking into jetski accessories. The key is finding what works best for you. Enjoy your new ski!

I love the idea about the remove before flight tags. They have places where you can get cheap custom ones. You can probably get one in bright neon that says CHECK PLUGS or something. And maybe add one on that swing arm pin as well to remind you to check the pin to make sure someone didn’t mess with it in a parking lot somewhere. Also have an extra pin in the truck just incase someone did.

Absolutely! Amazon does sell custom ones. Great ideas, thanks!

Great list the Australian type safety chains or straps are good insurance if the hand winch fails or isn't locked in. I like the" 15 Clear Red Multi-function Stop Turn Tail Marker Trailer Light Led" for lights they are sealed inexpensive and can be mounted horizontally on the cross member across the back of the trailer so they are visible from behind but somewhat protected. A piece of old bike innertube can cover the chains so they do no damage. A pair of wheel chocks or blocks are useful and can help when parking the trailer or if someone is slipping into the water at the ramp. I through drilled and mounted them on the through rod that secures my fuel cans on the back of my aluminum tongue box so I can get to them.

I would look into getting the retractable transom straps. You can use your existing holes and may make it easier. The chain on the bow is not so much for an accident, any accident that has enough force to break it off the winch, is also going to break the bow eyelet through the hull anyway. It’s more to make sure that the ski stays put if the winch was to fail or the strap brakes when towing. Or maybe someone didn’t engage the lock all the way or it is faulty. A good practice I do is to use the soft loop, and instead of using it through the bow like you do, I use the hook on the bow eyelet and then hook the soft loop to the trailer. That way is the main strap should fail, the soft loop is still connected to that winch hook and will still hold the ski there. The soft loop is narrower webbing and not sewn to the same heavy duty stitching as the hook is, so I never relied on it as the only point my ski is secured with. I only use it as a back up. I even recently bought a replacement winch strap with the main hook and another strap from that hook with the same exact wide thick webbing as the main strap and it has its own hook instead of a soft loop. That way I can just clip that on to the trailer without using a shackle or something through the soft loop. Depending on how many tow vehicles you have, check out the BOLT Locks. They make them for all males and models of vehicles and you key the lock to your vehicle key. They make hitch pin locks, trailer pin locks, trailer tongue ball locks, padlocks, and cable locks. Makes it easy when you only need one key, your vehicle key, for all locks. And it is more secure than having keyed alike locks where you need 3 different keys and they are so easy to pick or a generic key may work. I have the locks for the pins and tongue and a cable lock that I put through the trailer and the bow eyelet. I bought a spare tire lock that screws on the lugs and that what’s holds on the tire, and I use the padlock to secure that. So as long as I have my truck key, I have a key for everything. I even bought two other hitch pin locks for the riser on my hitch ball so I can adjust that without needing a different key. I have had to cut off many different trailer locks and hitch locks because I forgot where I put the other keys. I wish I had two skis to have a dual trailer and have more room. Awesome video!

saftey chains are a must in aus, if you can shorten it and attack to the winch mount its better, less length = less distance it can move. Cover it with chain sock or heat shrink helps prevent hull rub damage.

Thanks for the info. No one uses them here in the US, so I appreciate the tips.

i just did this with mine and had the same idea. Heat shrink worked great. I used about 10 inches of chain and ubolted it around the winch mount.

Absolutely. The VPs are the best. I never spill with those. But the EPA ones leak all the time.

Cheap fix instead of replacing your trailer jack wheel........ Get a Harbor Freight Furniture Leg Dolly. Less than $10 and you can it cradles the wheel of your jack and makes it super easy to move the front end of the trailer in any direction.

Good tip! Although the gears just blew out in this jack, so I have an upcoming video of switching to a Fulton jack.

Brother I see you have thick tires on the trailer what's the difference between the skinny ones and those? I like the looks but the diameter seems smaller . Thoughts? Looks wise they are great!
@professionalweekenders
@professionalweekenders 9 месяцев назад
The thicker tires are better for driving on sand and beach launching. Thinner tires will be easier to fit in your garage.

If you forget to screw in the drain plug, can you just jump in the water and screw it in? Once the engine, it will remove the water. The answer might be yes, but just make sure. I always carry a spare drain plug on me.

Don't worry man, we've all been there. Everyone has to learn somehow. I understand it can be frustrating. First thing to remember when backing up a trailer is you should turn towards danger. Meaning whichever way you want the trailer not to go, turn the wheel that way. If the trailer is moving to the left and you want to straighten it out turn the wheel to the left. I'll try my best to explain how I park my trailer in the garage, but you may be better off just searching for a dedicated RU-vid video on the subject. Perhaps I should do one at some point in the future. Here it goes. If looking at the house, I start by driving down the street forward towards the house from the right. I pull the truck slightly into the driveway and then away at a 45° angle to the left. At this point your truck and trailer should be blocking the entire road with the rear of the trailer at a 45° angle to the driveway, and your truck to the left of the driveway. Now turn your wheel hard left. Once the wheel has locked to the left start to back up until your truck is again parallel with the road. Once your truck is centered in the road straighten the wheel back out. The trailer will continue turning behind you as the truck and the trailer are now beginning to jackknife. Once the trailer is perpendicular with the street, parallel with the driveway turn the wheel hard right. The trailer should straighten out in regard to the truck and your truck will become parallel with the driveway, perpendicular with the street. Back the trailer towards the garage careful not to hit anything. If at this point you realize that you have missed the opening to the garage, pull straightforward and correct it on the reverse, remembering turn towards danger. If you find this to be too much, I recommend practicing in an empty parking lot until you get the hang of it. Another option is to use a trailer dolly to manually push the trailer in by hand. Finally my double jet ski trailer is too wide for a single garage door opening. I am fortunate enough to have a three-car garage, so I have to back the trailer into the double door opening. Once inside I used jack dollies to push the trailer sideways into its resting place on the single garage door side. I hope that was helpful, best of luck to you!

Never seen a winch fail or it's strap break. You can take 50 year old seat belts out of a car and they will hold a thousand pounds easily as long as they are not cut.
