Wow this is great cos i know of people who are a bit scared of eating out due to the language barrier. This would really help. And as you say restaurants there are generally very friendly and welcoming anyway.

OH my God those ear buds look amazing. I wish I had them ON my very FIRST TRIP EVER (1995 no smartphones, no internet even)! My wife left me alone at her house to go the izakaya with her sister "i'll be back soon." I start watching Every Hills Cop 3..dubbed in Japanese. Two hours later, her her mom comes home, and sits next to me, takes my hand, and speaks kindly and sincerely, for about an hour. I have no idea what she said. She was trying so hard, some times drawing or hand-signing..but it was wonderful. Then my wife came home...and BOOOM. (EVIL DEATH LASER EYES) NANI-SHITENO ? BAKA! JARO! lol it was so funny!

Those earbuds are like the universal translator from Star Trek. Very cool.

Haha they're really cool aren't they?! I first couldn't believe this was true 😂

Those ear buds seem cool, is there any delay, or is close to real time?
@TokyoFoodieSarah
@TokyoFoodieSarah Месяц назад
It's close to real time! As soon as the other person finish what they're saying, you will start hearing the translation on your earbud. The screen recording shows the actual timing aligned with the video. The time when translation is displayed on screen, is when you start hearing it on your earphone!

Hey Sarah 👋🏼😄 Hope you're doing good. Hopefully better since it's not as hot lately haha This might be a little bit redundant, but whenever me and my friends go out to Shinjuku or whatever nightspot and order beers, we typically use 杯 (hai) as the counterword for "glass of" instead of つ (tsu). I guess the latter works too and I didn't know it 😅 Oh well, Kanpai! 🍻
@TokyoFoodieSarah
@TokyoFoodieSarah Месяц назад
Hi! I guess 一杯、一つ、一丁 all work for beer! But 一つ is the one that can be used for other terms like food dishes and cutleries, so to keep things simple, I decided to stick with 一つ throughout the whole video! I hope that makes sense!

@TokyoFoodieSarah Makes plenty of sense 😅 But trying to remember the plethora of Japanese counter words was such a nightmare as a learner so many years ago 😂

Oh for sure that's one of the most difficult thing about Japanese 😂
