I really appreciate "chotto" as a way to say you don't really intend to be in the way of the other person, bc that's a thing I worry about constantly. The only way to say that in English is the whole long "sorry I don't mean to be in the way". Chotto is like pre packaged for my anxiety haha

yeah, we English speakers tend to be loose with "give me a minute".....its not really a hard and fast rule for us, even when its just "give me a second" lol. It reminds me of a teacher i had in college who is of German descent and he was telling us how confusing it was to learn "How are you?" is a token niceness rather than a full-invitation to discuss a person's day. We just say, "How are you?" as a way of saying, "hello" and you answer, "fine thanks," or something like that, and move on. Although i think the, "How are you?" thing is mostly American.

Videos are getting better and better. Appreciate de effort in making each video. Especially the part where u always explain the dictionary form/ the original word from which each word conjugates. At least it’s well explained. Example 行ってきます. Very useful for a beginner. Good work. 🥰💐

if it helps anyone, when it comes to things like 行って来ます i word it as "i will come having gone." verb1 て verb2: I *verb2* having *verb1*.

Hi Misa Sensei. I've found that I, and a lot of other Japanese learners feel like our grammar is pretty good, but our library of vocabulary isn't. In Western style schools, we just don't do bulk memorization very much. I always want to use simple verbs like 食べるとか飲むとか行くなど, and I think that's one of the biggest reasons my vocabulary is not the best. Would you think about introducing some lesser used words in your examples? I was happy to learn about 出前を取る in this video. Thanks Sensei!

In my childhood, I played a game called "Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon" on the Nintendo 64. I was always greeted with 「いらっしゃいませ」when entering shops, although I didn't know what it meant back then.

about ちょっと手伝ってくれる in English we sometimes add "real quick" (or depending on the person "real fast" "right quick" "for a sec" etc) to the end to imply it won't take too much of their time ^_^

I'm really not a "book" learner. Studying is extremely hard for me so I can't just sit down with a pen and paper and retain what I am writing. It turns into a "mechanic" of repetition rather than actual memorization and comprehension. Unfortunately, being alone doesn't help that at all.... I'll just re-watch your videos and maybe little things will stick here and there. Being 30, with my brain, make it all feel pretty hopeless honestly... Can't even get an English teaching job in Japan during COVID. How pathetic is that haha
