After watching your video I'm glad I cancelled my pre-order for my Titan XD. It kept getting constantly delayed and they started screening my phone calls when I called to get any updates since they took over 4 days (or sometimes never) to respond to emails.
So many cons!!! I was done by the like the 5th con.. If everything doesn't work and doesn't improve your experience over stock. It's a done deal!!.. You didn't spend all that cash to have to try and figure anything out.. We all love the big screen but if it isn't practical don't invest.. Thanks for your video saved me a ton of cash and frustration..
I am having the same problems with my head unit with my older model android I thought maybe upgrading to this one would fix the bugs. (Sounds too loud and hissing and crappy turn signal sound.) I guess not. Thank you for making this video.
The radio looks great that's about it.. I asked serval questions about the product before purchased it and after receiving it and installing it i found out i was lied to about all of it. this is on OEM factory replacement but it almost works separately from the factory unit. GMC link still works in addition to the Bluetooth built into the Phoenix head unit so you have to have your Bluetooth connect to both. also i was told the unit has RCAs for a aftermarket amplifier but after installing my amp and subs got nothing out of the amp called in to Phoenix the guy told me the RCAs on the unit are inputs and that i would need to purchase PAC Amp Pro which runs another $400!! Also cannot find any verbage about the radio (user manual) or install manual every link i have found is a broken link. i have only found a 8 min video on RU-vid for a install for my truck and a 2 min video on a demo of the radio
You can actually tie into those to switch to outputs. There’s videos on a couple of his issues, as well as the female ends to male ends. His is a problem because he doesn’t have the right unit for his actual vehicle, therefore the wrong wiring harnesses as well. I’m surprised it works as well as it does. The rest of the issues are basic tech knowledge, learning curves 🤷🏻♀️
Your hiss and loud volume at level 1 is not caused by the headunit. There is too much voltage sent to the factory amplifier. You need to hardwire the RCA outputs into the factory amplifier and that will fix your problem.
your mic gain my need changing that is in main setting ex mic you can cut into the 2 thin wires add a 3.5 jack then run up to wherever when you have unit out you can see the back of there mic be careful to support the wires so they dont break
there is custom firmware that will do everything you want to do on the tesla radios. we offer it for an additional fee as it is a custom program that has to be created and tailored for each radio.
I bought one and had to return it! Phone link wouldn’t work, rearview camera wouldn’t work, and had a huge dead spot with touch screen! 2 weeks of updates and customer service calls and nothing! I got a Eonon love it so much better!
Radio not coming on... usually I could push rest and it'll come back on but not this time. Checked fuse not blown what do you think its just went out??
Wow you had a lot of issues. I purchase from Belsee and have some of the same. Wish someone would write up a manual for customizing and controlling an android head unit for dummy’s maybe. Crazy it is so hard to get answers. I used a PAC interface that works ok and referenced 5 star audio guys on RU-vid for wiring. Highly recommend the wireless car play usb add on if it’s not built in that makes it more worth it.
Another typical person trying to use technology they dont understand. Its just stupid. If your not a techy go buy a pioneer or something. These units require tinkering
Yeah for the amount of money they are selling these for you would think they would have some superb customer service. These type of radios are only all looks honestly. Rather buy something like this from a well known brand.
I have a Yukon just like yours and I was thinking about purchasing one of these for it, but after watching this, I'm just going to stick with my stock system for now. I'm so glad that I didn't throw away my hard earned money on this garbage! It looks cool, but I rather have functionality and reliability over looks any day!
his problem was he bought it from phoenix. they make a cheap product. alot of people think everyone sells the same exact radio which is not the case. there are brands there just like there is kenwood, alpine, "sparkomatic" etc. phoenix radio's are the "sparkomatics" of the tesla radios. we sell which would be the equivalent to kenwood radios, that come with a 3 year U.S. warranty www.raptortechaudiosystems.com
Hey JP to fix the volume issue go to console tab and original amplifier settings change your volume to 10 or lower. I had the same issue b/c from the factory it was set at 50 and the back button is the bottom left corner below the home button
Will check that. sure i did that already with zero change to turn signal and backup alarm. Also new issue if you forget to release emergency brake before go in drive and alarm beep goes off and will not go away until radio is reset min 3 times .. unreal..
Also appears that the Rear AC runs separate and cant be controlled from the Front Radio other then On and OFF.. basically half functioning and you will need to look behind to control the rear Fan.
@Craig Jones This is also what i’m trying to find out!! I heard someone say on another review that the heated seats and ac and heat still work with remote start. I imagine it is linked to that hvac controller board you end up reutilizing.
The hissing noise is because you didn’t unplug your ncs.. noise canceling system . It’s a little box behind the radio. I had it in my Honda and unplugged that and it went away
Works awesome for me. But yes turn signal is annoying. Volume like he said can be adjusted in another location settings. And won't reset. It was loud as all hell like he said. But now it's spot on.
@@killingitkustoms6832 I got to say I've been watching a Facebook group of people who have bought these and it is pretty much convinced me that they are not something worth spending that type of money on.
J P I reached out to them but no response. Been bout a week now. Radio works fine. I have my factory Ac still wired up to the manual knobs til I figure something else out. Really Appreciate you putting up these videos though
@@281skunk sure thing bro,I'll let you now real soon,as it's coming out the shop with a new audio system...11,000 watts..so im eager to see how it sounds with the upgrades.
I purchased one about a month ago. Had quite the struggle figuring it out. But figured the wiring. And yes I did get the rear entertainment monitor working just fine. It'll show main screen ie: radio dial including split screen. Like if hvac controls come up its on the rear monitor too. But if I play a video, only the video plays on the screen. Pretty nice radio.
I wonder if the unit is so loud because of the GM LAN being bypassed. Have you tried installing your maestro? I Am just thinking because the Bose system on the 07-13’s uses the GM LAN (canbus) low voltage .1 to .5 v signal and the non Bose systems use a more standardized system. That would also explain the issues with the bluetooth back feed and the loud signal and backup beeps.
I'm not sure the maestro can be installed anymore with this unit without cutting wires. I'd like to just disconnect the gm lan see if I can use without
J P I just pulled the specs on the Bose and that is definitely what’s going on. The unit is sending 45 watts to the factory Bose amp and it’s maxing it out. Think of it like a garden hose with a kink at the end and the amp is the kink and the resulting sound (dB level) is the higher pressure water leaving the end once you open the hose even slightly. On the same concept. The Bluetooth signal from your phone to the head unit is the faucet on the wall. And turning up your phone volume is just like turning up the linked hose water pressure. Except you are already sending too much signal to the amp so you would compensate the loudness by turning down the volume on your phone maybe. So the kink is still in the hose and only so much water is being let out but without the pressure behind it it just comes out in spurts. I think your easiest fix is to go to Walmart and buy 3 of those cheap red and white RCA cables (left and right). Maybe 3’ or less it doesn’t matter. And cut the end off that does not plug into the RCA out jacks from the head unit so you have the plug ends for the radio and the exposed ends that you can strip the shielding on to expose the braided wire. Then you will splice the cut ends into the input (signal) side of the amp. I say 3 sets because you have the front signal, rear signal, and woofer / center signal. Then you will take the blue wire (possibly with the white stripe) from the head unit and splice that to the signaling input on the Bose amp. That wire only controls on and off but does not supply any power. Last and only after you confirm that it is functioning correctly, cut the light grey or grey wire set and the white wire set coming from the unit and tape the ends with electrical tape. You can buy a pack of like 10 red splice connectors at Walmart for around $5. This fix should take about 20 minutes. Simply connect the RCA outputs to the factory amp inputs and cut the speaker (line) out wires you have running your fronts currently.
As for the rest of the problems... maybe try looking for an android “sdk” download that someone has already set up. There may already be some patches out there for that unit.
There are some pics and I redlined the wiring diagram for which wires you will need to splice with the RCA jumpers. I also marked the wire you will need to either cut or remove the pin from the connector that is causing your unit to shut off with the rear controls. Let me know if this helps boss. If you decide you just want to dump it and go back to your other unit I might buy that one from you possibly just to play with. Hit me up at devinjdean@gmail.com. I don’t check this very often. share.icloud.com/photos/0SxMNAyh6EsJ-YoBLxOJO2lZg
I would like to buy for my 15 pathfinder but toooo many mixed reviews have me hesistant...... so phoenix has bad customer service with tech support? Getting live support?
So half of these complaints are app specific (Pandora sucks my friend, that was your first mistake) and some aren’t even actually valid complaints (You *can* swap the car photo, in fact). I’m not saying there’s not problems with this unit but I think you’re hardcore shilling for Pioneer.
@@nicetomeetme5150 for the one file you are replacing with. Example: if the original is car.png and your new image is image.png just change the the name to car.png to replace the original image with one you want to use. Theres another way to replace it and you can find the steps on Phoenix radio website in the help sections, I think they even have a RU-vid video doing it.
Not bad. But you can notice a bit of static in background.. and on Bluetooth phone while. On a call very faintly you can here radio in background.. alot of issues.. not bad unit overall I can manage..
Easiest/cheapest way to get rid of the static is get an amp bypass. Bose amps are ehh anyways. Either perform it yourself or take it in and have it bypassed. Typically you can purchase amp bypass kits online. That will fix your sound issues.
I received mine Friday 4/17/20. I installed it next day. Today is Monday 4/20/20 and I've removed it and have it ready to ship back for refund. Too many problems with it. It's a good idea, but the execution is a fail.
@@rellyrell2159 *Screen isn't bright enough. Even at the brightest setting, it's hard to see on sunny days. *My A/C stopped working. All controls worked the first day. Then nothing. *Bluetooth cuts out. My phone still shows BT is on, but the tablet goes mute. *If there's no wifi, you can't see the map. *...and the absolute worst complaint I had was that I tried calling Phoenix several times at different times and they won't answer the phone. That's what sealed it because I was calling with an open mind to resolve my problems.
And this is why I don't buy off brand Chinese stuff. Banggood and wish are not your friend. I'm a firm believer of you get what you pay for. The 700 dollar price tag of this unit sounds nice until you get it and have to deal with this. I only buy name brand stuff and if I can afford it at the time I do a little thing my parents taught me. SAVE SAVE SAVE until you can afford the good stuff
lol kicker that’s funny, kicker is decent at best a lousy representative for made in the USA, you could of at least brought up sundown audio, but yes there is a very few made here, and honestly there no better then the Chinese made equipment, just like the phone you put to your ear every day is Chinese made, but I but you will google one phone that is made in the USA because there is only one, so can keep saving your money like you mommy and daddy told you to do so you can pay for a name brand that is no better and a re stamped china item. There is some knowledge that will save you some money 😊
@shannonb1411 I didn't say sundown because no one puts a 8k watt 200 pound sub in a boat lol. I don't run sundown that's why I didn't say rhat. My speakers are wetsounds my amps and head unit are kicker. I'm about clarity not a wall of bass so you can do hair tricks. My phone is made in south Korea not China idk where you got your phone from. In my experience the quality of knock off shit from China is poor.
It looks like China bootlegged junk I was going to get one but I will only get one if a real company makes it like rockford Fosgate, alpine, Kenwood. You bought a radio that is literally a Mexican cartel bootleg
