I'm thinking the same. I fast forwarded often to see the end part but only got to see they ended it soon after the criminal pulled over and everything stopped, including the mile long traffic growing behind them.
Who is the reporter? He is not very observant ..."A dog has arrived on scene here" When the K9 unit was first in the line of pursuit when the target vehicle pulled over 21 minutes earlier (In case you didn't know, the K9 units are clearly marked with "K9" painted on the roof.)
CHP has taken driver in custody who led LAPD and CHP on a pursuit since the 11am hour. K-9 helped to get suspect into custody, who was sitting in car not complying with commands. All SB 5 lanes are blocked UFN, but pursuit is over now in Camp Pendelton area.
They shot him in the face with a bean bag and arrested him. He was Marine Corps with PTSD according to his wife and friends. "CHP officials said they spoke to the suspect's wife, who said (Karl) Flores served in the military and suffers from PTSD. A person who identified herself as the suspect's friend -- who saw ABC7's coverage -- called the station and said Flores is a troubled veteran. "He served for us, he was in Afghanistan and Iraq," she said. "We have tried to get help with the VA but with it being so backed up and such a long wait list, it's hard to get treatment for any of our veterans. When is enough going to be enough? These people, like I said, are constantly putting their lives on the line for us, and what are we doing to return the help?" "
He was driving like 5 MPH , Cops could've easily intercepted and boxed him with all their patrol vehicles that are way faster than his car. Why do they give a chance to go to the Free way. They should've been more aggressive and take him down. I swear I could've stopped him with my Mini Cooper .
When they do these pit manoevres, why do the Police hang back so far? It's obvious he's going to drive off again with all that space around him. With all their cars, they could surround him, with guns drawn. Even if the bloke is armed, they have more guns and could shoot if he aims at any of them! It seems somewhat incompetent to me, or am I missing something?
Many criminals are armed. Nobody wants to be strapped in a chair 10 feet away from the guy who doesn't care if he hits people with his car. The goal is to stop the guy without any casualties. If he opens fire the police in the back need to be ready to follow him that distance away gives you time to react, and if the criminal is making a u-turn to keep going down the road the police in the back can gain speed faster than the criminal can.
Can't go wrong with that. .. My stepdaughter was driving one for 3 years. .. She only know 2 positions on the throttle: OPEN and CLOSED. Nothing in between those. .. Also, she believed that"oil change" is a city in Russia. .. The Civic kept going, going, going. Never died or failed to start.
Why do they chase for hours when they have the opportunity to take the driver out so many times. Four pits, why? And they still chased for more than two hours before capturing him. The money they spent to get him, ridiculous.
In this situation which has prolonged ending this, parade...procedures need to be reevaluated. Where the procedures are to utilized by all, local police dept. as a standard policy/procedures for the purpose to ending these pursuit, quickly. Ie. Aggressive tactics. I for one am tired of these, Parades, "follow the leader. Where the suspects merely gawking the police, no?!
From the video recording the police driving their cars seems to value their cars from damage than to apprehend the suspect? If that is the case, why don't they re-inforce their cars for pursuit rather than use normal patrol cars for pursuit?
Each pit by the first officer was followed by the other officers becoming spectators, instead of finishing him off. I would hope LAPD/CHP would review these videos and use them for remedial training. This particular vid should have only been ten minutes long or less.
They're just following the weak policies and procedures that are given to them. Nobody wants to get into trouble. Blame the goons who run these departments and take bribes from pro-crime oligarchs.
these guys need more training. That was utterly stupid. It was so easy to just get 3 of those cop cars very close together. One spins the car and the others promptly block the Honda.
For those who were irritated about the ending, here are the details. Fox 10 Phoenix has the details on who it was, why they did it, and how the chase ended. RU-vid doesn't allow links to be posted in comments so here is the article. Article: "Driver in custody after 3-hour long police chase ends in San Diego County", Jan 3, 2019
The American police have totally absurd protocols of holding back hundreds of vehicles, waiting for the suspect to get out of his car, when a quarter of an hour would be enough, for it to be time to get him out manus militaris . Dangerous when all these retained vehicles are going to hit the road again.
Totally agree! But there are some states that don’t put up with it. Arkansas State Police are fantastic. They will PIT anywhere between 35 to almost 100 miles an hour on interstates or even two lane roads! California is a different story all together!
Don't lump all American law enforcement in that group. Los Angeles is a very liberal city, and in the past, the LAPD developed a terrible reputation for aggressively pursuing suspects and even shooting at vehicles they were pursuing. I don't recall if innocent bystanders were killed or if the city council just decided to reign in the police, switching to a "kindler and more gentle" protocol. I don't know the regulations nationwide, but in my state, they police will back off when there is heavy traffic or the suspect leads them through residential areas. If the suspect is considered dangerous, they will continue the pursuit.
@@seekingwisdom8 Liberals, dont you think we should stop and talk this out ? By the way, what gender do you identify as just so i dont offend you as im trying to stop you from killing someone .
I spent 2 hours watching this live last night ( am in UK ) could not believe it when they just said "Ok we are out of gas now" and cut the feed!!! seriously, what the hell??? so, can anyone fill me in on the outcome please?

Thank you for the details. People talking crap without knowing the facts. Glad the soldier got the help he needed. I’m also glad the officers didn’t get hurt. I hope the guy who got hurt is doing great. This is so sad Thank you again for giving us the information.
Thanks for the updates. I was a bit frustrated but came into the comments hoping someone had provided the outcome of this long-drawn out incident. Thank you. Although he caused an incredible amount of taxpayers’ $$$$ and inconvenience to many many drivers and others, I feel sad for this veteran (of course for many others who lost lives/are suffering with PTSD). Thanks to all the veterans who have served and are serving our country’s (I’ve flown many military charters throughout my flight attendant career, even during the Iraq war…). Thanks to the law enforcement officers and the news media stations.

what's funny is that I picked up my parents from LAX around ten days ago and I live in San Diego, so I remember how satisfying the newly paved roads were at around 1:23:14
I lived in Los Angeles and for work I drove all over that place. Every street was packed with cars. Lately, the police chases I've watched there the streets look empty. Everybody moved ??? LOL
@@skipmoto3438 we'd know 4sure if u checked the traffic congestion in ur new area since uve moved there. But take care on the roads wherever you live over there😳☺️. USA is so cowboy😅

the driver must to be punished severely as he hold up an enorm cue of traffic on the highway. insane jerk. he occured with his derranged behavior an economic disaster.
Protect is nice but Serve is also required, and serving the public by keeping this artery open for the flow of traffic, affecting perhaps thousands of people and costing folks money, is Also a worthy course of action ... Action. They just have to be more aggressive and do their job sooner and more efficiently. The media makes the circus and we pay the bread.
Lived for 30 years in L.A. Worked for 8 years with LAPD as a tow operator and never once saw a pursuit as it happened. Always came to clean it up afterwards. (amazing)
@@warriormanmaxx8991 Sorry you missed the point of the comment. LA is called the police chase capitol of the world. It has nothing to do with "my services", just the fact that working so close to the police day by day and never seeing an actual chase as a regular motorist seems funny to me. think about it before trolling others. My last response.
I remember when a canine officer was shot and killed by a perpetrator here in Bakersfield. The outpouring of grief for the dog was just as strong as it would have been a human. RIP ❤
I disagree with the police tactics by following the car too long. One police car can go in front and block the vehicle and stop him at anytime. Their ways of following the car create a lot of traffic.
I agree with you. Cops are the most horrible drivers. They need to take some serious lessons about how to maneuver a car. I think they do the long car chasing distance just for the drama. They love that too.
Save your time and just catch the highlights, I've fast forward so you don't have to. 0:05 First opportunity to end this but we got a show to produce. 2:01 Again lets end this, lol! 3:00 Should have just fired a few shots through the windshield, and end this. Also, the third cop should have drove around and plowed him. 3:45 Another chance for the cops to plow him down. 1:10:00 Perfect time for the cop to fly up on the driver's side and pop a few rounds through the driver's side window. 1:43:45 He pulls over, the next half hour is nothing more than the reporter flapping the gums. Half hour of nothing, guy sitting in car, all the cops standing around watching? Helicopter flies away, no arrest, nothing more to this Reality TV Show. Refuses to get out, fire a smoke bomb? They need to get traffic moving, people want to get home. Don't know why they don't use the Wheel Grappler, show would have been over 2 1/2 hours ago, or more.
suspect was enjoying controlling the law enforcement team. no matter how long he delayed and enjoyed that moment, he would still get the same charges, no more than that.
That was an absolute waste of 2hr and 16 min. Thanks for fast forward and also thanks that i don't live in LA. I guess there is no other crime there as it seems the whole force was after this guy. The dog or tear gas or rubber bullets or real ones for that matter may have worked. Why have those resources if you're not using them?
If he is a Marine, he may just want to go home to Pendleton. A mental breakdown might lead this man to seek help from his family at the base. I hope he can get the help he needs.
Me too. Hope he got help. None of us can imagine what he's been through. Pilots...better fill up your reserve tank next time. People were not happy. The K9's always prove how valuable they are to law enforcement. Bravo.
What stupid cops pitted his ass so many times even crashed into him and still he got away for 2 hours and title says 3 hours what a waste of time those cops should be demoted to foot patrol after this incident happened
Terrible cops need retraining . All these cop cars driving these mean ford explorers and they can’t stop a measly Honda . Pathetic I would of ended it in 2 mins Especially after he it the pedestrian. Game over
Do you realize that we can’t hear what someone is asking you. You carry on a conversation with that person but not letting us in on what they are saying. 👽
These cops are the ones in charge are either scared or just don't care, there's all kinds of way to stop and let the poor people being held go on their way.
Oh it’s Calif. the cops hav3 to wait for the boss. The boss has to get permission from the Biden liberal mayor that is afraid to upset the liberals. LMAO!!! To hell with thousands stranded for miles. We need to coddle this idiot. Take him so water now and make sure he can use phone. Omg help this country.
I lived in Southern California 52 yrs and have seen a lot of police chases occur (on Tv). California has gotten struck on deadly force(too soft in my opinion) .

At the 6 second mark after the first patrol car completely spun the fleeing car around a second patrol vehicle was in perfect position to spin that fleeing vehicle again which very likely would have disabled the car thus ending the pursuit right there.
I got bored in between so I set playback speed to 2x and now... its a bit more fun. Play NFS Most Wanted 2005's police chase music in the background too xD
I don't know how many times I can say pathetic?? Who the hell trains these cops on how to drive? They spin the dude out multiple times and yet all they care about is their Crowne Vic paint job. When he starts driving away you use your push bar and go head on. I'll say it again...pathetic.
I don’t understand the training of these officers when it comes to driving skills. I understand the safety of the public needs to be priority number one. However, so many opportunities do you spike strips or to pit maneuver him approaching an overpass and/or fern second unit to tag him after the initial pit maneuver. If I decide one day to have a place I will definitely know to go to Los Angeles for I will have very little difficulty getting away 😂
