Must watch if you have LATENCY / DELAY ISSUES 

Exactly and people call this harder shooting implementation a “skill issue”. 2K expects you to grind your player offline and then learn a whole new game once you’re online. No reason shooting should be this stringent when the latency is as inconsistent as it is.

The 2k community clowned Agent00 years ago when he tried to tell us it's been the main issue with this game glad its finally coming out.

Latency has plagued 2k - jumpshots, layup timing, sliding on defense, workout exercises, dribbling, literally everything involving timing. If they stopped making gameplay changes and simply fixed the server, the game would work as intended.

100% agree on this one. I don't have much of a problem offline playing mycareer nba games. Even in HOF i can hit pretty consistently but as soon as i play online, the latency on every shot is just random. If 2k didn't really change anything on the shooting as they claim, then the fluctuating latency is probably the culprit on why we still get random speed up/slow downs on our shots. One game I'll be 6/6 then next game 0-7 all while taking almost the same open shots. But knowing 2k as a company, they'd probably still blame it on the user side, like get good or your internet is bad, blah blah. Turning off cross play doesn't help either.

I like how 2k is based on timing but for some reason they can’t fix the latency issues, and that’s the problem that the community has been begging 2k to fix for since online was introduced. The fact that 2k is the ONLY game i have to change my MTU and DNS settings in HOPES that I get a better connection is bombastically outrageous.

Thank you Tutes. This reiterates what I have been saying for ages - green windows need to account for latency or be bigger. It is unrealistic to time a tiny bar/animation that has limited room for error from latency. There's a reason why no one complains about hitting jumpers offline but does online. Wake up, complain for the right things 2k community: fix latency or give us green windows that account for it. We drop a 100 on a build and are told we aren't good by 2kdevs when their servers are choppier than Bermuda waters. Nah devs, you 'get gud' and fix your servers.

The latency is put in play by 2K on the servers to make you think in believing you need to buy skill boosts and Gatorades. It's all by design. A very disgusting greedy tactic.

I've had to deal with the latency on every 2k and this one is by far the worst. At least on 23 it was somewhat consistent but this one changes every few seconds and it's ridiculous

Can you test the difference between proam, rec, theatre etc latency, feels like each game mode is different from eachother

that's been the problem for years ! then it was fixed right at the patch of season 2.. but then went back to terrible right after the "hot fix to stop fluctuating shot speeds" thing, before that REC really felt like mycareer for me smh ... having said that im actually shooting very well around 65% from 3. but its annoying because jumpsuit queues keep changing for me.

Latency with a small green window probably the biggest cause of inconsistency that and I only start missing missing after having too many good games and that temporary nerf kicks in

I think your observation is spot on bro...people going around foul circles trying to find what is wrong with their jump shots that worked one day and failed the next one...the problem is latency related from day one...that lag effect, even the slightest one can put a great distance between what you see on screen and what you are actually doing...there are also differences from server to server, even on the same server from game to game...I found myself shooting 5/6 3pts easily on one game of REC and when I just popped out in the lobby, next game I had 0/8 with most shots wide open...and I think that this is something that is happening to a lot of players...

That’s why I think they have to go back to the larger window/RNG base shooting. I don’t even try to play park anymore, going from shooting 60% one game and 20% the next. Rec has been the most stable for me but still not perfect

Thanks Tutes. This explains why shooting can feel so easy and effortless one game and extremely difficult in the next. I’ve also seen huge differences when I turn off cross play as that adds additional latency. It just sucks that you can’t join a friend if you turn off crossplay.

This is actually crazy. You're getting up to a 1000ms delay in this test. And 2k expects us to hit a green window that's only 25-35ms big. This is why we're all brick. Plus factor in the input delay from your controller and why bother even trying to shoot. These servers can't handle crossplay and its becoming abundantly clear. I haven't even played since last Saturday night game is a joke.

This 100% makes shooting miserable. It affects every other movement also shooting is just the most noticable. Imagine making a game and charging hundreds to play where the most fundamental part of the game is that broken. Like making a soccer game where kicking is broken. Like making a shooter where it takes a full second to pull the trigger. If COD can make it work there is no excuse for 2k.

First Xbox needs an option to turn crossplay off from the 2k menus. Then crossplay off needs to be the default option when you load 2k for the first time and if anyone actually wants to crossplay they can turn it on manually.

When im shooting in offline courts like 'Art of shooting' or 'Chris Brickley' court. I feel that's how our shots should be all the time. I'm thinking the latency gets worse with the more people you have connected on the court. Like 1v1 and 2v2 wouldn't be bad because it's the least. 3v3 would be somewhat manageable and 5v5 has to be the worst latency. Honestly sticking to pro am or event centers that avoids connecting so many players may help. Avoid park where it's constantly bringing players in and out the servers.

Yeah I’ve played 2k and nothing else for the past 10 years but I’m done with this game… so frustrated with the inconsistency. And it’s not just shooting, previously there was some predictability to what made a good dunk, layup, steal etc which separated good players from bad (skill gap). Now it’s all over the shop, even to the point you can get dropped off by a trash team because of 2k bs not skill. So I’m done… but keep up the good work Tutes

With latency fluctuating from 30-70ms best to worst servers,and their ideal green windows 35ms, they should have a 0-105ms green window. Or get it to where the latency is always the same no matter what they have to choose. Because timing a small 35ms window with ping varying more than the green window space is nearly impossible to be consistent, like built in RNG.

I always have delay is not that bad bc I play center but certainly perimeter defense and shooting is a nightmare for me.😢

Have you ever tested shots with the right stick vs X shooting. I've always felt like the right stick jump shots are more responsive but maybe that's just me.

We need a latency counter on the top corner of the screen..at least you can monitor it. If it goes up mid game..which it does ..you will know your shot is about to lag a little more. It's almost forcing me to go back to the shot meter. Smh.

Since they're unwilling to invest in better quality servers, I don't understand why they don't just make the jumpshot timing be calculated client side instead of server side. I have some background in game development and I think this makes the most sense and would solve all latency related issues with timing your jumpshot.

And this is why I liked having real player % as an option like in 2k22. They removed it in 23 for online play and it really ruined shooting for me. Timing is easy this year if you don't have latency....😂

Tutes, I hope you see this. Last year I played a lot of Rec and shot around 72% in January. Then in February-March my wired controller broke and my percent dropped to 54% the next season. Finally during the summertime I got fed up and bought a wired controller again and shot a whopping 91% over 50 games (this is 3pt% I only took catch and shoot my guy had 40 ball handle.) oh and I averaged 17.5 ppg so I shot alot of 3pts I swear up and down that wired controllers help massively.

i have solid internet and when I play park I can green pretty easy but when I play rec I struggle bc the visual cue I look at in park doesn’t match in rec

I have a 76 3 ball for my 2-way big and I. CAN'T. SHOOT. 25% outside the arc. And I only take open shots. Can't miss offline. I was 60%+ every previous 2k. The lag is out of control this year.

I feel like in Gatorade shooting wasn’t as delayed in the beginning of the year and now it’s awful.

Thaaank you! Been telling everyone this! It’s the latency in the courts! 2k24 had some of the worst latency since 2k19. They need to address this issue and fix it asap! People going crazy out here thinking it’s their jumpshot!

I've been spewing this almost everyday. The community spends countless hours discussing shot, shot timing , skill gap, when it should be using all that time and effort to complain of the servers being upgraded first.

Coming from someone who can’t get a bucket playing park while having no problem playing ppl irl on HOF it’s definitely latency….only way to play park with this lag is as a big man and I’d rather play offline than be bored playing center getting carried

They keep coming out with new ways to squeeze money from us but can't even provide a decent server. This is the only multi player game that I have latency issues!

35ms green window but inconsistent latency. The only solution is to make a bigger green window to compensate for latency (the cheap route) or invest in higher quality servers (expensive). 2k is all about profit. There has been noticeable input delay for as long as I can remember so we know theyre not spending the money for server replacements. If the community is loud enough, expect a green window patch

Latency is exactly why jump shot variable timing shouldn’t exist. If the pure green window is only 15ms, but we can have 200ms+ variance in latency then how are we supposed to adjust

I dont have here im spain problems in old gen but un new gen is horrible Probably more people playing and few servers. This is the reazon when you see elitw and rise full all day. This could Explain the problems.

2k should make users pass an online connection test. I literally saw a pg one game go 8/11 from range next game he was 1/7 and quit. I know in some other online games before there's a host and their connection mattered not sure if that still applies.

This is why I said bcuz 2k cant fix tbe lstency. Depending on your shooting rating a ppl should get small boost percent of slight lstes/early should go in. U can't hsve green or miss with fluctuation lstency on every shot u take that's insane. 93-99 6% boost 86-92 4% 81-85% 2% and 80 below is get 1% that would fix the shooting issues with the horrible latency

On my college wifi, it's barely playable on 2k. Yet Fortnite's servers without millions of people on runs perfect on the same bad wifi.

100% agree. 2K servers are the worst. You play Madden or Fifa and it plays perfect. On 2K there is always a delay... I guess, because you have 10 players at a time, who knows.

For all these years and latency is still an issue. And 2k earns loads of money!!! Why don’t they just hire some folks from Activision to have this solved. Cod servers are on point.

Fully agree, sometimes my jumpshot even skips part of the animation due to lag. And i pay for 1000 mb download speeds. My tests only show i get 500 mb up and down, but still that should be plenty to not have lag. 2K servers are just trash.
