Agree 100% with Shri Pratik Boradejee that only those who truly understand real Indian culture of villages and village life can make a moovie like this and hats off to Shri Rishab Shetty for making this moovie. I stopped watching bollywood moovies in 1990s first primarily because of what happened in Mumbai in 1992 and secondly I just felt Bollywood moovies totally alien to me.

I was a child back in 1988. I belong to Garhwal where we have divine stories and customs in the hills like kantara. Even as a 7 year old I found "Ram Teri Ganga Maili" set in hills revolting. I just cundnt see my reality in that film. 30 years later I understood the ugly agenda of Urduwood

I have seen the gram dewata pooja and procession in Garhwal and Himachal Pradesh they almost same with a different dress. I think all Pahadies will love this film as it depicts their own life and connects to our villages.

Loved the movie Kantara . Recommend everyone in hindi speaking region to support it releasing on this Friday in Hindi dubbed , also other regions like Telugu, Tamil, etc Representing centuries old living folk culture of Bhoothkola (probably dates back to as old as Sapta sindhu river civilization), and the divine worship of Lord Shiva and Lord Varaha. The movie is shot beautifully and the background music is awesome. The folk culture song of Bhoothkola is the highlight. I think I will watch the movie in theaters once again. Love how beautifully the script was interwoven. Update - watched it for the second time yesterday. Can't emphasize enough on how heartwarming Bhooth-kola ritual is 🚩 so divine, so graceful to establish dharma . Mind-blowing depiction. I would also like to mention the lovely way is which it calls out fake activism in one fire cracker scene since Deepawali is closeby and we need to shut up all the so called fake activists ( some of our Urduwood stars love to do it )

To be blockblaster a movie need not require a super star, expensive heroine costumes, expensive curtains, unnecessary skin show of heroine, high paid item song, 100 cr promotion stunt, well know production house, Kapil Sharma show, etc etc that what it shows..

absolutely. bollywood movies only shows the starkids partying abroad on parents' money having a good time. only the nepokids have been brought up like that. the common indian has many dreams but 1. INDIA isn't backward hell for us, we really wanna contribute to our BHARAT emerging stronger. 2. we have to get things on merit. our dreams are for us to make reality - not our parents' money to go on world trip. i love that south indian cinema is emerging much stronger in this crucial time - and INSPIRING ALL HINDUS. Yes..me from himachal We also have gram devta, we offer the offerings to him on every crop harvest. We have the concept of Kul Devi (Usually a presiding deity for 5-6 villages) and offer her the same harvest.

First of all correct yourself, all south indian states do not oppose hindi, only tamil nadu opposes. Karnataka, telangana, Andhra paradesh, kerala do not oppose hindi. However, we do not like our languages to be replaced. Several reasons for this 1. All south languages have about 2000 year old history obviously hindu history which is embedded in stories & other literary work. If the usage of this stops , it will be like any other north indian states , which is already hugely distroyed after by invaders earlier, islamo communists later did to hindu culture. Do we have nalanda, taxashila? How many can speak pure sankratized hindi from north? 2. Why waste time in learning language in modern world when science is so advanced that automatic translators give you fairly accurate translation between languages. 3. If totally different language users could rule us for 700 years why can we govern ourselves with different language, right education with nationalism imbibed is all that matters for nation building.

pratik bhai is correct. i was stunned at the cinematography. i never saw nor expected such beautiful camera work in indian cinema. cinematography actually increased/complemented the movie to have a greater overall impact (like Joker movie, remember the frames). the only thing is the middle part could have been made a bit more crisp by editing - the romance storyline dragged a tad bit longer.. however, from the scene before the movie title to the climax scene - i've never seen a movie like this before (i watched Joker 2019 in theater TWICE and 1917 as well among the recent best contemporary cinema worldwide).

I always used to think that "Kannad" was the original and actual pronounciation, and not "kannada", as anglicised indians have the habit of adding extra "a" at every noun, like RamA, KrishnA, BhishmA. Now I am confused.

This movie is a milestone in indian cinema. It depicts a divine connect between people and nature. Sampradayas like daivaradhana and kola are shown in their pristine form. There is no casteism as the rich man is not a brahmin but he also is a meat eater. Kambla sport is outstanding. Every frame of the movie is superbly picturized. Its so mesmerizing, one becomes a part of the movie while watching it.End gives goosebumps to all.

One important point that i noted in the climax is how Daiva helps to form a connect between villagers, forest department and even the zamindars (not the corrupt one, there is another family that helps forest department) to protect nature. Before that each of these parties were trying in their own way to destroy nature. So it tries to say that all of us need to work together for saving nature.

Just the song "Varaha Roopam" is enough to give you that unexplainable bliss. The divine voice, the movements of the Deiva is a something extraordinary. More than expressing in words, you will feel the joy and tear up at the same time. Amazing.

I have read hundreds of reviews but I was waiting sanjayjis review. Finally I saw this today. As far as the movie is concerned, it makes " McKenna's Gold" look pale. Cudos to Hombale films and Rishab Shetty and each and every cast and crew worked in this movie. An experience to watch, which we love to visit theatre again and again.

It takes a lot of perfection to present such subject in form of movie , the climax is unbelievable it gives so much divine feel experience honestly I took recliner seat at pvr but whenever thrs divine scene i was lowering the seat & in climax i left my slipper, automatically my hands joined together my eyes was wide opened just after climax i was like did i see the real God presence my body was vibrating I can feel my blood moving zrrrrrrrr, wat a experience it was ....i love my india ..jai ho my culture

Recently in a news interview, Rishab Shetty was asked that he only showcases coastal Karnataka in his movies, can we expect other part of the state culture just like Kantara in your upcoming movies Rishab Shetty replied why not definitely, but don't know whether I can perfectly showcase or not due to limited knowledge of particular region, so I have to do research and study on the culture of particular area

This was purely an experience and not a mere movie. I think everyone in India was waiting for this type of experience in theaters and Rishab shetty delivered this great yet very simple story of coastal Karnataka. Great job and 100% recommended movie

Kambala, not Kambaala. It has been the traditional game of Tulunaadu. It requires 100% physical fitness and mental agility and is associated with paddy cultivation. The leftists and intellectuals wanted to ban both kambala and jallikattu arguing that both cause violence against animals. Buffalo 🐃 race In Tulu - Kambla and in Kannada - Kambala is traditional race in today's date but tbh what my grand mother and mother told me actually it is not was just race...Earlier Buffalo was used for ploughing the field(Although still this practice still exist for some majority shifted to tractor)... Race use to happeb just to loose up field before and get the field ready for paddy cultivation 🙏🏽. Infact last year or few years back a Nayer in Tulu(means runner) made the news saying he could be the fastest runner or almost made equivalent record for 100m track running

Thanks to Sanjay ji and Prateek ji for this review.. I wholeheartedly bow to Jaipur Dialogues team for the service they are rendering to Hindu Samaj. I have watched this movie twice... First time just because it was Rishabh Shetty movie and his track record is superb.. I went with family and all of us were awestruck.. later, as I watched various reviews, short videos that show making of Kantara, got to know more on rituals n practices followed in our Karavali region/coastal Karnataka my respect n love of this film and Rishabh grew manifold...And we watched this film for 2nd time today!! Practices n belief systems represented in this film are representative sample of similar practices followed all over Bharat per local traditions and that's what is making people connect to this film regardless of the region or language.... By the way, our Dakshina & Uttara Kannada friends vouch for these practices followed and this film has done extremely well in portraying Kambala, Bhoota Kola.. it's only by word of mouth this film became popular and is yet another standing example which shows the power of Story, Content, and connectedness to roots !! Wish to see more such films depicting the rich culture, heritage n diversity of our great country 👍 Thank all fellow Bharatiyas for the love they have showered on Kantara.. we should continue this momentum and make Har Har Mahadev another huge success.. It’s not actually a blind belief. In village there are such stories which took place long back & those traditions are followed till date. Lord Varah is the main God in this movie where he is protecting the land. I am a Kannadiga not from Mangalore but it’s nice to see their culture in this movie. You have explained really well here.

Sanjay ji, this interview sounded like lip service! I could clearly hear a lot of clicking on the background. Prateek’s hand were shown in the video it must be you who was multi tasking! Questions were quite banal!! I expected you to pick in several topics such as showcasing revolution! It was prateek who kept adding points without you asking for it! Sanjay Dixit ji 🙏 with all respect I found the hosting and responses inadequate and prejudiced, almost liberal(andhvishwas included). From someone who is staunch supporter of all forms of Sanatan this was totally unexpected. Watching the movie will be really worthwhile. I'm surprised that close to the end they've very subtly depicted that we become what we worship similar to the Advait as the last stage and is ingrained in this civilisation.

Kannada movies have always been very strong in content, acting, music, lyrics and dialogues, right from the beginning. Old Kannada songs are equal to old hindi songs in melody. I am not saying this as a fanatic kannadiga but with full awareness and I understand eight languages though my speaking lacks fluency of all of them.
