Speed Phenom Awesome Review I'm so glad you got to Drive Joey's absolutey gorgeous S650 Mustang Dark Horse and I think you should get one and I definitely agree that Dark Horses are worth the price
Austin's living the life! Always some great content but very fortunate on the cars and track time acquired. But always done a great job on presentation
I own & drive a 2020 Ford Mustang Bullitt, which is a much sort after car because Ford allocated only 300 of them for the UK market back in the summer of 2018. From having recently seen clips of the MK7 Ford Mustang DarkHorse,I am putting my money in my mouth! & ordering one in 2024 from my local Ford dealer.
I didn't order mine but I did pick one up at my Ford Dealership which I think is really well optioned for me. Got mine w/ a 10-speed, Recaro, Blue Ember Metallic, and the Premier trim and appearance pack. Mine was $69,305.
The Tremec transmission is superb❗My only issue about the dark 🐴 would be the Recaro seats. I'm not feeling the hug feel they present. I like the seat's better in the 5.0 💯
You are riding the dark 🐎 mustang iny area ❗ Telegraph, is a road 🛣️ that cross I 96 freeway. I've been to that dealership for repairs to my 21 explorer 🤝
Austin, I really liked your videos, this one was great! I have a question. I have a Dark Horse on order at my local dealer in Washington, it is being held up by supply chain issues. The Handling package is presently unavailable but is listed as an option. Might you have any insight through you contacts at Ford as to when the Handling package will be available ? Thanks so much! Keep up the good work!!
The wheels are not curbed that is the lubricant that the factory puts on the wheels to mount the tires. It might look like that I’m the video but this was before cleaning the car up all good now !
@@josephshehan4763the gt500 in 07 was severely overrated, they only made about 380 hp , a gen 2 coyote with the 10 speed would embarrass an old gt500 ; not to mention a new SS or 392
Maybe in person that color is nice but I'm not a fan on screen. Seems kinda bland. Hood vent is really basic. Im sure the aftermarket guys will go crazy with this one
Imagine paying $75k for a heavier mustang than the S550. Plus imagine the mark-up on these, you’ll be at $80-$90k in no time. That’s m3 territory. What would you rather have? 😅
Yeah,I think for the same money I’d rather have the 20-23 GT500,a lot more performance for around the same money, just can’t get a Tremec 6-speed manual though,(unfortunately)!
It’s quite obvious Ford is attempting to be forward thinking and brand themselves to the younger generations; as many young kids don’t even know who Carroll is/was.. to my best knowledge, this is why they created the “Dark Horse”. It’s an impressive vehicle, and I commend Ford for maintaining the naturally aspirated coyote. However.. prices are starting to get out of hand. I get it, there’s more technology, fancy screens, bells and whistles that mustangs of the old never had.. but I just couldn’t justify spending that much for the Dark Horse. Add in taxes, insurance, fuel.. that’s one expensive car. Thoughts?
Depends on what you want - If you want reliability, durability, and Ford’s latest and greatest creation; I would pick the Dark Horse. If you’re looking for something that’s more track focused, more raw, but a bit more high maintenance in terms of a true racing engine; go with the 350.
God I can't get over how comparatively FUGLY the S650 is. Long Live the 20-22 Shelby Cobra... the most gorgeous one they made. OK... the GTD does look pretty sweet...
Haha there is no paint chips lol you can’t see that in the video just reflection no curbed wheels lol. If that had happened it would have been taken care of at the dealer.
Sure, but you're comparing the price of a not fully loaded GT500 to a fully loaded Dark Horse that's also four model years newer--and inflation has been a bitch during that time.
@@MrHighlyEvolved I also had the recaro seats. Pretty much a gt500 is fully loaded minus the carbon fiber track pack. The dark horse also has a carbon fiber track pack that is $9k so it’s not fully loaded.
@@spacefras The handling pack on the Dark Horse is $5K. You can get a Dark Horse with the handling pack for 66K. It only tops 70K if you get a premium with the handling pack, appearance pack, and Recaros, which is fully loaded minus getting an auto. Regardless, it's priced in line with the Mach 1 and not the Shelby. If you think the Dark Horse is expensive, just wait until you see the price of the next Shelby replacement. Inflation has driven the prices of these cars through the roof.
@@MrHighlyEvolved Shelby is a whole different car. The dark horse is a 5.0 with badges. It’s only 20hp more than a regular 5.0 so there’s nothing special about it. And you can’t even tune the car. If you don’t add all the extra stuff to the dark horse you literally just have a 5.0 so your forced to option it to $74k before taxes. Car is a dud same goes for the entire s650 lineup
GM needs to differentiate their Corvette service like this. Imagine coming in to find your Z06 parked outside right beside the waste oil, antifreeze, and scrap metal bin. Then seeing exactly what you expected to find....the side of your car covered in oil and with large spots of running rust down the side of it. Left like that for days yet. It's not a ford GT level car but it's not a Spark either. They are a lot more than 5 bucks. GM service on their high-end vehicles is horrible. The stories I could tell.
The Name Dark Horse means nothing to me. It has No heritage. Just a label made up in a conference room. Now the new Ford Bronco 2 door is a vehicle with Heritage. I have owned mustangs for decades but not interested I the Dark Horse.
Every name ever made in automotive history was created in a conference room; but as a traditionalist and someone who respects the heritage of Ford, I can understand your point.
Imagine content creators that have owned GT350s, gt500s, and now downgraded (for clout) to a more expensive dark horse, which is slower than a tuned gen1 with basic bolt ons. I hope he won't buy one, since the depreciation will be brutal within a year.
@@CrinklesTV well, locally around me gt500s are 90k-100k US. If one looks for private sellers one can get a better deal. And I seen a dark horse now listed for 90k. (Doubt it will stay like that) But Let's assume 100k is average for gt500, and 80k is standard for dark horse for the benefit of the doubt. The gt500 is twice the car the dark horse is. Heck the gt350 is twice the car the dark horse is from a driver's experience. And it being the last new ice vehicle sold is less of a selling point when one can get better used vehicles, or just order a new c8. As for tuning, the s550 is lighter and not held back by the restrictive dual throttle body/intake design. Mod vs mod, the s550 platform would be the better performer, even if they make the s650 tunable. One would have to gut the chassis to have it catch up with the s550. I should mention, I'm not a fan how the s550 looks (it's a Ford fusion with body kit), but I have to respect it's performance and mod capabilities. As for the collectivity, I would say the dark horse name has no Pedigree, and once they release a Shelby version, it probably will be as popular as a 1999 cobra.
Who tf is buying this over a Corvette? You could get a brand new Vette for under $100k. They’re targeting a new generation of buyer and I hope these kids aren’t so dumb they’d choose tech over performance
He mentioned that it has the spring spacers or whatever they are from shipping still installed. The wheel gap on the handling pack Dark Horse is probably the best out of all the 24 Mustangs.
Joey, after driving this heavy, slow pos you should deny taking delivery so you can help convince ford to give future models the hp they claim a la 99 Cobra. 12.4 quarter mile, gtfo
My opinion-3rd S550 refresh and the most unoriginal Mustang ever produced. Darkhorse - name and image stolen from a wine (should sue the hell out of them) Side profile - Camaro Front end - Dodge charger Read end - Nissan Z Dash-corvette wannabe I love me some Ford, but they are pulling wool with this car. Stop the BS and hold them accountable.
