Read about these cars in MM&FF magazines growing up. I've had two 94GT's one was a show car I bought brand new in 1994 (Vibrant Red, 1 of 206 made with those options). Those days were the best. Luckily Steeda was only 20 minutes away. I had spent so much money at Steeda I was invited to their new HQ Ribbon cutting ceremony. A 1995 Cobra R would be my bucket list car to have.
I remember these cars. I first learned about them in Motor Trend I believe… These cars are “Holy Grail” and rare as hell! What a collection. The good ol’ pushrod days…
That is so amazing. I can't tell you how many hours I spent pouring over MM&FF magazine, and 5.0 mag, dreaming of one day having the opportunity to see one of these in person. I’m now 45 and the day has never came, kids, bills, injuries, it’s likely it’ll never happen, but seeing these cars on video sparks that fire that still burns down deep inside of me somewhere. Thanks Edit: Back for a rewatch as i contemplate my lifes decisions.
I remember reading car magazines and seen the 00 Cobra R going against the Viper and the Z06. The Cobra R was also one of the coolest cars to own and drive in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. The look with the wing, the hood and the splitter along with the wheels makes for in my opinion, one of the best Mustangs of all time. I might now own one in my lifetime but I am glad it exists.
I remember catching an article of this in one of the old mags back in 1999, Motortrend or something. The late 90s was the premier time period of Ford concept vehicles! Super Stallion (my fav), the crazy GT-90, 6.1 CJR, etc., etc.
Wow what a collection of Ford Mustang history, the Cobra R's are incredible, man 2000 Cobra R w/ 5.4l dual overhead cams (pre-coyote) is just a awesome car. Thanks for sharing Evan.
REVan Evan by far brings the cream of the crop Mustang variety and accurate information on RU-vid. Another great video and I'm really looking forward to the third one.
This is a fantastic collection of cars. Thank you so much for taking the time to document this collection. Big thank you to the owner for sharing with us.
Wow what a collection. Thank you both for sharing these cars with all of us. This is such a dream garage, the amount of history you have is unbelievable. Thanks Evan for bringing this collection for us to enjoy as well
The 2000 Cobra R mustang: My favorite car on the planet. Imagine if Ford stuffed an aluminum 5.4 block instead of an iron one in the 2000R engine bay.😮
@@cali2468 they didn't have an aluminum 5.4 block at the time they pulled the iron block from the pickup and put diff internals and stuff in it and it's topped with 4v heads obviously. It wasn't until the Ford gt they produced an aluminum 5.4.
I recently sold my triple white convertible foxbody identical to the one in the background @10:10 mark in video. The car came white exterior paint, white top, white wheels with white leather interior. Wasn't crazy about the convertible! YOU EITHER HATE IT OR LOVE IT. I wasn't a fan!
Hey Evan, back in 2000, when I was a 17yr old kid, I lived for all the car magazines, I was a total nerd, it was the only thing that I really loved. There was a 2000 Cobra R for sale in my hometown. Clarksville, TN at Jenkins and Wynn Ford and it had that rear diff cooler as it sat on the showroom floor for sale for many months, it was marked up from $54,xxx to roughly $68,xxx. Not sure when it eventually sold, to whom or for how much. But, it had that duct and that diff cooler. I'll never forget that car. Thanks for showing it off.
This is so awesome thanks for sharing, that garage is a beauty. this is my dream for sure wish I could’ve been in that time era enjoying those cars like you guys stay blessed guys
Damn I’m reliving my Ford SVT magazine centerfold dreams of my 20’s. These were the cars that lived in my stacks of Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords when I was in the USAF. You guys are part the reason my 96 GT I bought in 99 now has a 408w in it.
@@revanevan I have been subscribed for a little while now. I really enjoy your content and was just telling my other mustang friends that I really like you and that you are credible and were right there during my favorite mustangs era (94-04) with all your testing and magazine articles. Ive owned 17 of these cars and really appreciate your work.
On the non dealer prep Cobra R, what’s going to happen over the years to the paint under the tape? All you guys blessed with the income to own special Foxbody’s and SN95’s I’d be happy if I could just afford to buy an 79-82 hatchback with the 200-6. I sold my last Pace Car in 1991 and because of health problems haven’t been able to buy another one.
It's insane how much faster the 2000 Cobra R is over the 6.1 and the 5.8 Cobra R's. If John Coletti had his way the 03/04 Cobra would've had the SLA front suspension like the Super Stallion. These were the days. 😎
I have a an 89 fox that's #1 of 5 built. Has about 3,000 miles. I have the mustang magazines it was in in 1989. I've put it in a few shows but I have it stored with a family members car collection. I don't want to give to many details. It's a special ride.
I saw this car in Columbus Ohio at the Ohio State Fair around 1995-6. It had red stickers on the headlights that said CJ. Matter of fact, New Kids on the Block were playing that night.
The most shocking thing about this channel is that you don’t have 100k + subs yet. Keep them coming buddy! Any chance of making it to Carlisle this year?
If I could have any of these rare Mustangs, I would take a 1995 Cobra R, no question. Maybe even just a 94 or 95 Cobra would be ok for me as long as I could get the big Cervini cowl hood, big brakes, wheels and tires, swap a 351w based stroker with good heads, big cam, a worthy induction package and a full exhaust. A 392, 408, 418, 427, 432, 440 ci with a standard roller block or a 427, 454 or 460ci with a big bore Dart block. Maybe a T56 or T6060 swap and a built 8.8 with taller gears to get the most MPH out of the big stroker TQ. I'd like it to be streetable, pull good dragrace numbers and still handle decent.
I seen one for sale couple years ago for 10k. Pretty sure it was legit it sure looked like an r to me that is what it was advertised as. This was before the market went nuts but that was still a crazy good deal imo.
