Pro tip. For the top 2 bolts just remove your intake manifold. Cheaper and less stress and saves you a trip to the store

never done it that way, would be a good opportunity to change some of them gaskets.

The wiring harness gets in the way while doing that, any tips on getting the wiring harness out of the way.... beating my head against the wall on this job

Could I get away with not doing the torque converter bolts and just pulling the transmission off?

Nope, I've tried this before. What happens is there is not enough clearance for the bellhousing to clear the left behind torque converter when pulling the transmission. It hits the bottom of the car. That torque converter is going to have to be unbolted.

@@OldSchoolNoe exactly what we did slid it back and droooped it and it’s slid down and off onto my tranny jack was a bit of a pain but it came off

this is an automatic, a manual is much easier because you unbolt the transmission from the bell housing, and can remove it separately.

When I popped my transmission out, a small compression spring came out.. Any ideas. Same car v6 mustang

That's interesting. There is no spring near the bellhousing area. I have not rebuild this type of transmission, so not sure if its an internal piece.
