Just a tiny correction: You state that in wavetable mode, the time knob controls the filter cutoff. It actually controls the wavetable position, which incidentally might sound like a filter sweep depending on the selected wavetable.
Thanks so much for a really helpful walk-through of the main features of beads. I’ve had this module for several months and really appreciated your steady pace and clear description of the function of each knob - not always obvious at least to me! Yes please to a more in depth look at the modulation possibilities. Cheers Patrick
A correction: Early on you state that the feedback rotary does not work as a feedback with a signal plugged in. This is incorrect. It is in fact feedback just like in a delay. You can use the rotary for manually setting the input level in if you hold down the quality selector button while turning it. If there is NO signal plugged in - the rotary works as a bank selector for the internal sound generator.
Great walkthrough! Clear and to the point, definitely helped me understand Beads a bit better. One thing I've learned that might be useful for some is that you can use the feedback / dry-wet / reverb modulation input to modulate more than one parameter at once - just hold the button and turn the knob you want to modulate, its LED will light up and you've got multiple parameters modulated.
Yes, I think that is an error (simultaneous modulation of those knobs) in this walkthrough based on reading the manual. But otherwise this is a good intro to the module.
This video shows that the music coming out of this module sounds like shit when you scratch the surface. Don’t get discouraged by it, keep the module and learn it. I was on the brink of selling it myself, glad I didn’t do it.
Hey sir, .. thanks much. Nice approach, at the beginning, .. just using the it's own wavetable source to study & demonstrate the basic features. Quite a few arrangements (infinite?), eh? I've had this module, for awhile .. and am still getting the hang of it. Supposing I will always be finding new things. Your demonstration at 13:30, .. those slow, wavy, .. quite lush sounds, .. really ear pleasing. A powerful audio gadget.
A very useful video. Thank you. Yes, a more in depth video would be great...for example successfully programming grains to be triggered by a sequencer and other detailed aspects and tips of incorporating Beads into a hybrid workflow.
