Main issue I have with the game, are the visuals. As you mentioned, if you missed a detail on the map, the chance is high, that you'll fail in battle and with these visuals, especially in handheld mode, you will miss details..... a lot! I was highly disappointed and regret, that I bought it in the eShop...

I really enjoy this game. It does have several bugs and crashes on me sometimes but hopefully after some updates they will be fixed. Very good review!

The issue with this game (and w/Mario and Rabbids, and Into The Breach). They are more of a puzzle game than a tactical game. Everyone that plays MYZ will quickly realize that the game wants you to play a certain way. It wants you to pick off the same people in every playthrough silently and then engage in battle when you taken off enough enemies from the board. There is no real freedom with the combat, because the enemies are so overwhelming in numbers. You have to obey this stealth mechanic (pick-off, and then engage).

Playing this through on iron mutant mode, I find the visuals better on some levels than others. Playing on iron mutant really makes you appreciate the characters more not wanting to lose any of them, Nail biting stuff at times I can tell you. I think I may have stumbled on a level glitch purely by accident, I got to level 4 trying to get each of my characters through individually without raising an alarm, got to Ducks on LV4 and was detected by the Shaman on LV10 who called in reinforcements and basically it was game over for me. Starting again and getting to the same level I got Ducks through first but continued into the next level purely by accident thinking to myself “ Oh no I hope I can go back to get Bormin and Selma” but I didn’t have to, as soon as the next level loaded all 3 of my characters where there. So it seems you only have to get one character through any level and all 3 will respawn on the following. Useful with higher level NPCs to get around.👍🏻

That sucks, this game looks awesome, but no way I’m buying it, how can they port dark souls to switch, that runs flawlessly, with amazing graphics, but then this game happens??

Oh hey, it doesn't seem to look too bad docked! I only played undocked, and I probably lost some eyesight. It's so bad it physically hurts the eyes! That trailer they made is shockingly misleading, it's false advertisement.

HAHA the Fuzzy Wuzzy callout was great! Fuzzy Wuzzy was originally a Rudyard Kipling poem about Sudanese soldiers, but the name was also turned into a completely unrelated nursery rhyme. Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear. Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair. So Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't really fuzzy, was he? Sidenote: awesome job CP!

I really look forward to this as I heard the gameplay is like Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle. It's looks great but its a hard sell on the Switch right now since its free on the Epic Games store atm, if you dare go there

Damn, I really wanted to buy the switch version over the ps4 one but looks like Ill have to go with the latter... Its confusing that they've effectively ported games like Doom and Witcher 3 with reasonable success visually but this game....Guess thats the difference when you have bigger companies having the capital to spend to make the best ports possible. Very informative review btw, sub from me.

Picked it up for $8.99, in april '20. Its been out a while and a article on metacritic states that the visuals have gotten an update. Im keeping my fingers crossed and at least Ive not spent alot if thats not the case. But its is the mail will have it in a few days and will update y'all.

Even tho im playin on x im sad for my switch bros out here. This game is awsome(albeit short & sweet). If your ever on a higher tech rig DO give this title a shot.you really wont regret.

When you have Witcher 3 coming out for max of 60 usd it makes mutant look more like 5 for a value.

I know this review is 3 years old I played this day one on game pass loved it I just saw that it and dlc where on sale right now for under 20 us and I was like should I get it on switch or ps5 glad I watched this and bought it on ps5 instead same price but not worth it if it falls short.

I was primed and ready to buy before release, but I don’t want to play this unoptimized mess of a port.

Is the game better now than at release?

I have this one on switch and it’s fine in docked mode but handheld it looks absolutely horrible. Sucks because the game it’s self is excellent.

He is not exaggerating, the visuals are absolutely terrible. I ignored all the red flags and bought this one, can't even play in handheld home, it's that bad.

Got this for free on PC this week, haven't played it yet.

Difficult to justify a Switch purchase like this when the game is free (or was last week) on the Epic Store :)

What a shame on the video and buggy nature of docked play. This is a game I'd like to it back and think about my moves. While holding the switch it would start to feel "cumbersome" for long periods and the remote would be better suited for my play preference.

I'm extremely upset with portable play. After the update it's EXTREMELY blurry, and hard to see anything. And this is coming from a guy who played Wolfenstein in it's entirity on switch.

Real shame, I was really looking forward to this one. This sounds very disheartening. I'll keep my eyes peeled on a sale and on a hotfix. Fingers crossed. I would give the second best to HardWest based on your review, that game was a gem.

I just got this game, and am also irritated by how slow they 'run'. Many elements in the world looks fuzzy and it's hard to spot loot. Sometimes it's also buggy; I just finished combat at the Sea Titans and the feature to split and regroup disappeared and I had to restart to fix it. There's a good game in here I'm sure, but Switch's MYZ is just a bad port. On the other hand, it's not a hard game. It's hard at first... but once you understood what the game could do, combat honestly becomes a bit repetitive. Once I accidentally ambushed an enemy with the skull beside his name, and I won; then I tried it with other skull enemies and I won again. Now I understand why the previous owner of my game card sold it. 🤣

This port still looks like garbage. Not surprised. These devs openly mocked me and others for being upset with their pc release for hiding the fact they were using Duenevo until release day. Said we were all "morons with tin foil hats".

Played it on pc and its a great game with some issues, but the switch port looks really poor.

Cheer up...the graphics couldn't be more dissapointing than Nioh: Complete Edition for PC. And that's a 79 GB download.

No dude, it's because of the Flaw in which the strategic game designed over, if it was made more thoughtfully and expanded more, the more variety it could bring to the table, and more replayability. unlike Xcom new chewed up and spitted for easier digestion for weaker players that this game and games alike, take notes from, The best game ever that beats these games and all the japanese tactical turn based strategy games is Jagged Alliance 2 !

I'd stay away from this one. My buddy and I played through XCOM 2 a few times on his PC and we tried this game when it came out (also on PC.) The only way to play was to use the pig's stun dash on solitary enemies and then whittle them down with silent weapons hopefully before the stun wore off. Unlike XCOM, it took 4 or 5 levels until we realized how boring and painfully repetitive this method was. Attempts to apply different strategies ended up in a loss. He briefly touched on this in the review, but honestly I feel it needs to be stressed how unsatisfying and repetitive the stealth strategies become. If you are only slightly interested in this game, I would probably pass. If you really enjoy repetitive game play then get it on PC, at least you have better graphics to look at and no game crashes.
